Al Jazeera Bemoans the Celebration, in Italy, of Oriana Fallaci (Part 2) AUG 21, 2019 10:00 AM BY HUGH FITZGERALD Oriana Fallaci was acutely aware of the changes being brought to Italy by those she called “the sons of Allah.” And while she was in a state of alarm about the tens of millions of Muslims who had been so foolishly allowed, as she saw it, to settle in the very midst of Europe, her anxiety became rage, la rabbia, when she saw what was happening in her own country, Italy. A few months before her death, Fallaci famously said...

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia's Rosneft, one of the world's top oil producers and exporters, has notified customers that future tender contracts for oil products will be denominated in euros not dollars, five trading sources told Reuters. The move, which could come as soon as this year, is likely to be seen as an attempt to offset any potential negative impact of U.S. sanctions on Russia. Rosneft, which accounts for over 40% of oil output in Russia, produced 45.8 million tonnes of oil products at home in the first six months of this year - from diesel and gasoline to fuel...

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee is dropping out of the 2020 presidential race, he announced Wednesday night on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show.” "It's become clear that I'm not going to be carrying the ball, I'm not going to be the president so I’m withdrawing tonight from the race," he told Maddow, vowing he'd help keep the other 2020 candidates focused on issue of climate change, the focal point of his campaign. "I’ve been fighting climate change for 25 years and I’ve never been so confident of the ability of America now to reach critical mass to move the ball."

'The only reason' for spying was to 'inform the president' Former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy pointed out that counterintelligence operations by the FBI, Justice Department and are carried out for the president. So it would have been the responsibility of the Obama administration's counterintelligence investigation of the 2016 Trump campaign to make sure Barack Obama knew what was going on, he said in a Fox News interview with Sean Hannity on Tuesday night. "What I'm saying is not that the president sits there and directs that there be counterintelligence investigations, McCarthy explained, according to BizPacReview. "What I'm saying is that...

Justice James Wilson "It is the BEST form of government which has EVER been offered to the WORLD" He was one of six founding fathers to sign both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. President Washington appointed him to be a Justice on the Supreme Court. His name was James Wilson. Born in Scotland, James Wilson was one of the first to argue against British dominance. Harvard law professor Laurence Tribe unleashed an unhinged attack on President Trump and his supporters Wednesday after the commander in chief said he was considering an executive action that would end the practice of "birthright citizenship." "This fuxxxng racist wants to reverse the outcome of the Civil War," Tribe claimed. He was referring to the 14th Amendment, which is often cited by media figures as a Constitutional guarantee to citizenship for anyone – including children of illegal immigrants – born in the United States.

There is an exceptional amount of lying in Washington these days, and our media and politicians are entranced by it. Lies must achieve extraordinary bulk and quality to impress the sport’s most ardent practitioners: Only a particularly nasty outbreak of mendacity could draw Washington’s attention to a subject it knows with such intimacy and depth. Most Americans are unsurprised. Long ago, they learned lies are the oxygen of the political world. They know the phrase “political deception” is a redundancy, like “false pretense,” “free gift,” or “foreign imports.” Most electoral lies, they’ve found, are dandruff on the body politic, pedestrian...

Former U.S. Sen. George Hanks Brown (R-Colo.), who goes by “Hank Brown,” said in a recent interview that former vice president and current Democratic presidential front-runner Joe Biden is by no means a moderate. “Senator Biden is a pleasant, outgoing individual,” Brown said. He was a colleague of Biden’s in the early to mid-90s. But Brown added that Biden is certainly no moderate: “He was consistently one of the most liberal members of the U.S. Senate. To hear him described as a moderate could only happen only in Washington D.C.”Hanks’ comments on Biden came in an interview with National Review...

Rolling Stone magazine recently published an article titled "Trump 2020: Be Very Afraid," which carries the following subtitle: "America is the first country to ever elect a Mad King, and the way things are going, we may be dumb enough to do it twice." The author, Matt Taibbi, sat down with CNN's "New Day" on Tuesday morning. Among other things, Taibbi said the enthusiasm at Trump's campaign events this year is even greater than it was in 2016, and reporters who cover Trump are not explaining that. "What is the magic that he doles out?" CNN's Alisyn Camerota, not a...

An organization comprised of life-long Republicans unveiled a new TV ad Thursday morning, taking aim at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for recently blocking election security bills as officials continue to warn about ongoing Russian efforts to subvert U.S. elections. The minute-long video, created by Republicans for the Rule of Law, comes as Democrats have blasted McConnell and other Senate Republicans for blocking votes on various House-passed measures that would, among other things, provide additional federal funding to states and would require post-election audits, back-up paper ballots and the notification of federal authorities about any offers from foreign entities to...

In 1970 I was named Head Football Coach, Athletic Director and Dean of Students in a high school of nearly 2000 students. In my role as dean I kept records of discipline actions on every student referred to me from their enrollment as 9th graders through graduation. In total the numbers represented less than 10% of the schools total population and the vast majority had only one or two referrals in four years. But, there were a few really bad asses. It really doesn't take a psychiatrist to recognize a potential a criminal when four years of behavior provides evidence....

Abortion advocates are upset that women searching for abortion and pregnancy-related words online might potentially still be “lured” toward pro-life pregnancy centers — and they’re seeking to further silence them. In May, Google changed its advertising policies to require that pregnancy-related advertisers be “certified” before displaying their ads, below which Google would also display whether or not the facility provides abortions. The so-called “loophole” that abortion activists are now targeting involves specific search keywords. Since that time, Google’s policy has applied to searches with the keyword “abortion,” but not for other terms such as “free pregnancy test” or “pregnancy...

Authorities are pulling out all the stops to shove “disobedient” believers under the state’s control: churches shut down, congregations threatened and surveilled.Provincial and municipal governments across China are intensifying efforts to close down underground meeting venues where conscientious objectors who refuse to join the Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association (CPCA) continue to practice their faith. Such actions by the government are disregarding and distorting the Vatican’s June 28 pastoral guidelines that allow Catholic priests and Bishops to join the CPCA but also permit “conscientious objection” by those who believe joining the state-run organization is against their principles. Confidential document calls for...

Moscow, August 20, Interfax - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has asked Russia to help train Russian language teachers for Syria, according to the State Duma's liaison with the Syrian parliament Dmitry Sablin. "Al-Assad said at a meeting on Tuesday that broader studies of the Russian language in Syria will accomplish an important task of diverting Syrians from Western culture," Sablin told the press over the phone on Tuesday after he met with the Syrian chief of state. "In the words of al-Assad, the problem of Arab countries is that half of them are influenced by extremist ideas, and the other...

Norwich's Anglican cathedral installed a helter-skelter in its nave to try to bring people to church A controversial amusement park ride erected in Norwich Cathedral has come down after an 11-day installation. Rt. Revd. Johnathan Meyrick, the Anglican bishop of Lynn, delivered a sermon midway down the helter-skelter slide during the final liturgy held in the cathedral with the ride present. “God is a tourist attraction,” Meyrick said, claiming that God would be “revelling” in the joy it brought to visitors. During the time the helter-skelter was installed, over 20,000 people came to visit the nearly thousand-year-old cathedral. While an...
