CHICAGO (WLS) -- Betsy Ebeling, a native of Park Ridge and Hillary Clinton's best friend, has died. Ebeling grew up with the politician and diplomat in the northwest suburb. She was a vocal supporter of Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign and cast the Illinois delegate votes for her at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. The Chicago Sun-Times reported Ebeling died Sunday after a battle with cancer.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two women who worked as peacekeepers on Chicago's South Side were shot and killed in the neighborhood they worked to protect. Chantel Grant, 26, and Andrea Stoudemire, 36, were both mothers of four children who worked with other moms to stem violence in the Englewood neighborhood. Both women were hit by gunfire at the corner of W. 75th Street and S. Stewart Ave. that is often occupied by members of the group Mothers Against Senseless Killings. The group hoped their constant presence at the corner would help break the cycle of violence.

On Wednesday, LGBT campaigners won a partial victory in Bulgaria, where a court ruled to recognize the validity of the same-sex “marriage” of a pair of foreign women residing in the country. A missile launcher was found in a man’s checked luggage at the Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport Monday morning, Transportation Security Administration officers said. TSA officials said they tracked down the traveler and detained him for questions, according to WBAL.
