"I pray that ... you may know ... the surpassing greatness of [God's] power toward us who believe" (Eph. 1:18-19). The same divine power that created, sustains, and controls the universe secures your salvation. God's power is awesome! David wrote, "Thine, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Thine is the dominion, O Lord, and Thou dost exalt Thyself as head over all. Both riches and honor come from Thee, and Thou dost rule over all, and in Thy hand...

I was astounded to hear to Rush Limbaugh yesterday say essentially that he didn't get why Donald Trump was saying that he liked Nancy Pelosi and other high profile liberal politicians, and that he could work with them as well as the Republican establishment to get things done in Washington. *snip* Sean Hannity, Geraldo Rivera and Tucker Carlson seemed dumbfounded last night on the Hannity show that Trump has chosen to revive a feud with Fox News by citing unfairness as a reason for opting out of Thursday's debate. What Limbaugh and Fox News fail to understand is that everything...

One of the occupiers of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge is dead after a shoot-out with federal and state authorities. Eight of the crew, including ringleader Ammon Bundy and his brother, were pulled over while driving to a meeting in a neighboring county. Five of the survivors, including the Bundys, have been arrested, and a sixth man was arrested in a nearby town. The officers had arrest warrants charging several of the occupants of the car with "conspiracy to impede or injure an officer," a less serious charge than "seditious conspiracy" but still good for up to six years. It's...

Just weeks before the Iowa caucuses Donald Trump was subjected to a barrage of criticism from Republican commentators. New York Times house conservative David Brooks, who has threatened to move to Canada if Trump becomes president, called Trump a “solipsistic branding genius whose ‘policies’ have no contact with Planet Earth.†The National Review devoted a whole issue to parsing Trump’s manifold flaws and dangers to the Republican Party and the country: “Trump is a philosophically unmoored political opportunist who would trash the broad conservative ideological consensus within the GOP in favor of a free-floating populism with strong-man overtones.â€

<p>WASHINGTON - Donald Trump on Sunday admitted he considered becoming George H.W. Bush's running mate, but denied it was ever his idea.</p>
<p>The potential Bush-Trump ticket was first revealed in a new biography by historian Jon Meacham, who writes in "Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush" that the 41st president considered the idea "strange and unbelievable."</p>

They are showing up in droves to see Donald Trump: Men and women, overwhelmingly white, frustrated with the country's first black president, fearful that they are being displaced by minorities and immigrants, and nostalgic for the way America used to be. And Trump is thriving, tapping into the fears and anxieties that have erupted into the open in an extraordinary presidential campaign. The voters pledging their allegiance to the Republican front-runner hail from all corners of the country. They work on farms, in nursing homes and run small businesses; they've voted for Mitt Romney and Barack Obama and participated in...

Western-backed Syrian rebels on Tuesday suffered one of their most significant defeats since Russia's military intervention in Syria turned the tide of the war in favor of President Bashar al-Assad, further complicating prospects for a negotiated settlement at peace talks scheduled later this week in Geneva. After a month-long offensive backed by Russian warplanes, government forces and allied Âmilitias reclaimed control of the town of Sheikh Miskeen, strategically located at a crossroads commanding a southern supply route between the Jordanian border and the Syrian capital, Damascus. It was the latest in a string of defeats inflicted on rebel fighters in...

The Federal Reserve this week will update its assessment of the U.S. economy and could take note of recent volatility in global financial markets. But any move or definite signal on interest rates is extremely unlikely. All the action will come in Wednesday’s policy statement, due out at 2 p.m. EST, since Chairwoman Janet Yellen isn’t scheduled to hold a press conference and officials won’t release updated economic projections until March. Here are five things to watch out of the two-day policy meeting that starts Tuesday. 1 Flexible Messaging The Fed won’t raise its benchmark federal-funds rate on Wednesday... 2...

The journalist who forced the State Department to release thousands of Hillary Clinton’s emails is opposing the government’s efforts to delay the final release by one month, warning the extension would cause "irrevocable harm." On Monday, lawyers for Vice News reporter Jason Leopold filed a motion seeking to block the department from extending the amount of time that it has to release emails from the former secretary of State's personal server. The Obama administration "has failed to show good cause for the requested extension, that it is necessary or that the interests of justice will be served by granting it,"...

'The late Dr. Jerry Falwell Sr. would be rolling over in his grave,' one social conservative leader warns. Jerry Falwell Jr.’s endorsement of Donald Trump on Tuesday was swiftly met with a backlash from other Christian conservatives sounding the alarm about what they see as a dangerous candidate with questionable morals. While the official backing of Trump wasn’t a big surprise — Falwell had heaped praise on Trump last week when he spoke at Liberty University — it came during a fraught time, as many are waking up to the real possibility that Trump could win Iowa next week and...

While working as Hillary Clinton’s chief of staff at the State Department, Cheryl Mills lost her personal Blackberry, on which she sent emails that the State Department has determined contain classified information. Records obtained by The Daily Caller through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit show Mills revealed that she lost her Blackberry in a March 20, 2010 email she sent to Bryan Pagliano, the State Department IT staffer who managed Clinton’s private email server. “Somewhere b/w my house and the plane to nyc yesterday my personal bb got misplaced; no on [sic] is answering it thought [sic] I have...

NEWTOWN - A proposal to create detailed profiles of students’ personal lives as part of a plan to better manage mental health issues in the classroom might sound like a transgression of the school district’s authority. But in the post-Sandy Hook world, the danger is not that privacy rights will be sidestepped by school districts looking to create comprehensive diagnostic pictures of students with special needs, Superintendent Joseph Erardi said. “There would only be a danger if we didn’t do that,†he said. “The question needs to be: ‘If the school district doesn’t take this on, how do we forge...

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu strongly condemned remarks made by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, in which the UN chief expressed sympathy for Palestinian terrorist attacks. "The UN Secretary-General's words give encouragement to terror," Netanyahu fired in response. Another aspect of the speech, which was held at a Tuesday UN Security Council Session devoted to "the Situation in the Middle East," is the proportion devoted to the Israeli-Palestinian issue, as opposed to other conflicts that are ongoing – most markedly, the one in Syria. Over 55,000 people were killed in the Syrian civil war in 2015 alone, according to the Syrian...
