The chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science said Attorney General Loretta Lynch did nothing at a hearing this week to convince him of the legality of President Obama's gun executive orders. Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) grilled Lynch during that hearing about the executive actions as well as her beliefs in the Second Amendment. Lynch said she has "complete confidence that the common-sense steps announced by the president are lawful" as "they clarify laws that are already on the books."

An opossum was found in California on Friday after being shot in the head and torso with what appeared to be crossbow arrows. Riverside County Department of Animal Services were amazed by the opossum's survival after it was found trying to remove the arrows near an intersection in the city's La Sierra neighborhood. [snip] The opossum survived the surgery and is now recovering at the animal hospital. [snip] The city's department of animal services has began an animal cruelty investigation into the incident.

CATAWBA, N.C. (WBTV) - A good Samaritan, who stopped to help a driver who spun out on ice, was fatally shot by the driver in Catawba County. According to the Catawba County Sheriff, a driver spun out on ice along Mathis Church Road Friday night. Neighbors who overheard the wreck, went out to check on the incident. The driver of a truck came up on the incident and pulled over the help the driver, later identified as 27-year-old Marvin Jacob Lee, of Claremont.
