The Republican Party tapped South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley to deliver its response to President Barack Obama's State of the Union address Tuesday night, but her most memorable jabs landed squarely on the GOP's own Donald Trump. Haley took clear aim at the GOP front-runner, discussing her family's immigrant experience while warning against rhetoric that would threaten "the dream that is America." "During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices," Haley said from the governor's residence in Columbia. "We must resist that temptation. No one who is willing to work hard, abide...

Then the Lord said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land. And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the Lord: And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name Jehovah was I not known to them. And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage,...

Forget the nonsense from President Obama’s State of The Union diatribe of same/same left-wing nonsense cloaked in claims of incivility from his opposition. Forget that nonsense, it was predictable. Most of the electorate were more interested in whether the DC Republicans had received the message within a six-month-leading Donald Trump candidacy. And…. the answer is a resounding NO !

House Republicans said Tuesday that they will launch an election-year study of what they say has been executive overreach by President Barack Obama and other recent presidents. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said that his panel would vote in coming weeks on creating a task force to conduct the investigation. Goodlatte said the probe would be led by Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King, a conservative and frequent Obama critic. Goodlatte announced the examination at a time when Republicans have repeatedly accused Obama of exceeding his constitutional powers. ...

A suburban mega-church's plan to create a small community center in the Hollygrove-Dixon neighborhood has sparked racially charged opposition among the mostly black residents whose homes surround the proposed site. Celebration Church and its representatives are outsiders looking to impose their will on the neighborhood, a lawyer for opponents of the project told the City Planning Commission Tuesday (Jan. 12). "None of them look like the clients that I represent in this neighborhood," he said. Residents said they felt harassed by the influx of outsiders knocking on doors and asking to talk about the development. "They are forcing their way...

There has been no announcement, no peer review or publication of the findings - all typically important steps in the process of releasing reliable and verifiable scientific research. Instead, a message on Twitter from an Arizona State University cosmologist, Lawrence Krauss, has sparked a firestorm of speculation and excitement. Krauss does not work with the Advanced Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory, or LIGO, which is searching for ripples in the fabric of space and time. But he tweeted on Monday about the apparent shoring up of rumor he'd heard some months ago, that LIGO scientists were writing up a paper...

"I'm Nikki Haley, Governor of the great state of South Carolina. "I'm speaking tonight from Columbia, our state's capital city. Much like America as a whole, ours is a state with a rich and complicated history, one that proves the idea that each day can be better than the last. Imagine Ted Cruz as president. That was the senator’s theme when he launched his campaign last March. On Tuesday night, as President Barack Obama headed to the Capitol for his final State of the Union address, Cruz took his theme to the next level, offering up his own first State of the Union as he envisions delivering it two years from now. Remember the IRS? It’s been shut down, the bureaucrats replaced with tumbleweeds, the building turned into a luxury hotel by the vanquished Donald Trump. Oh, and that border wall? Not only did we build it, “Donald paid for...

DUNCANNON, Pa. (AP) — A constable serving an eviction order at a central Pennsylvania apartment fired at an armed tenant but the bullet passed through the man's arm and fatally struck his 12-year-old daughter, authorities said. The constable went to the apartment near Duncannon, about 10 miles northwest of Harrisburg, at about 10 a.m. Monday to enforce a district judge's eviction order, state police said Tuesday. A man answered the door, closed it, then reopened it and exchanged words briefly with the constable, police said. He then pointed a loaded .223-caliber rifle that had been "slung and concealed along his...

All three YouTubers posted videos expressing their excitement and encouraging fans to send questions their way: (VIDEO-AT-LINK) The State of the Union airs...

Plans are in place for Iran to return 10 US sailors to a US Navy vessel in international waters within hours, after they were taken into custody while travelling from Kuwait to Bahrain. Late on Tuesday, a US defence official said it was deemed safer to carry out the exchange in daylight early on Wednesday. The plans call for Iran to bring the sailors to international waters, where they will be transferred to a vessel from the USS Harry S. Truman carrier strike group, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. It was not immediately clear what would happen...

LONDONDERRY, N.H. — Ted Cruz on Tuesday ended his two-month absence from this early voting state with a provocative tour that featured him ratcheting up his rhetoric against all the usual suspects and a less frequent target: his chief rival for the Republican presidential nomination. Over just seven hours on the ground here, the U.S. senator from Texas debuted a more antagonistic stance toward billionaire Donald Trump, whom he has been resistant to criticizing for months as the two have emerged as the top contenders for the nomination. In campaign events and media appearances, Cruz made clear his kid-gloves approach to Trump...

This source doesn't allow for reposts I believe so I'll just summarize: An investigation apparently 'couldn't find any evidence' that a crime was committed when Gov Cuomo shut down his own ethics committee. It appears that the big investigation that was announced for January is now over, and of course 'no corruption could be found' according to the investigators- http://poststar.com/ap/national/no-crime-found-in-shutdown-of-anti-corruption-panel/article_c577fe47-a397-5996-a0d8-972acd7d0892.html

Controversy is brewing in North Carolina over its new requirement that abortionists submit ultrasound images to state officials after every abortion at 16 weeks or later to prove they are not violating the state’s 20-week limit on legal elective abortions. The bill, which took effect on January 1 and was signed into law last year by Republican Governor Pat McCrory, also requires abortionists to provide the state health department with the methodology used to determine gestational age and measurements of the fetus. Louisiana and Oklahoma also require ultrasounds to be submitted. Planned Parenthood Votes! South Atlantic director Melissa Reed denounced...
