The U.S. military is preparing a bulk transfer of 10 detainees on Thursday from its detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, two defense officials told Fox News. The transfer, amounting to about 10 percent of the remaining prisoners, marks the largest group of detainees to be shipped out of the camp since Defense Secretary Ash Carter informed Congress in December his department would transfer a wave of detainees at the beginning of 2016. The accelerated transfers reflect a renewed effort by the president - who is likely to highlight the issue in the State of the Union address Tuesday night...

ARI SHAPIRO, HOST: Black people are disproportionately victimized by gun violence, and prominent African-American leaders are among those calling for tighter gun control. Yet as Karen Grigsby Bates of NPR's Code Switch team found out, many other African-Americans believe that owning guns is crucial to protecting themselves and their rights. KAREN GRIGSBY BATES, BYLINE: Know how some people can't do without something? April Howard has three possessions that are non-negotiable. APRIL HOWARD: I have a .22, a .38 and a rifle. BATES: And she's keeping them all. Howard's had guns for several years now, the result of a close call...

Donald Trump made a rare retail campaign stop in Manchester, New Hampshire after a Monday rally, surprising patrons at the famous Red Arrow Diner. The Republican presidential candidate got some grub, but also something unexpected -- an earful from one patron who was clearly not a fan. "Enjoy your burger, racist!" a young woman shouted from the back of the restaurant before walking out.

Get this. GOPe shill Michael Medved of Salem Media just opened his show with Jeb Bush as his guest. First thing Jeb says when asked about what he'd be saying in a State of the Union speech if he were President was that he'd have congress authorize a use of force to ... Wait for it. Take out Assad. Not take out IS? No, Assad. Just like Obama, and Hillary. And McCain. These guys are obsessed and cock-eyed. He would send US troops to overthrow Assad. But not The Islamic State? This is how he thinks he can gain votes...

German police are hobbled at every possibly opportunity by the Federal government from dealing with the criminal migrant problem, with one officer complaining they have even been banned from preventing suspects escaping custody. ... 95 percent of refugees are single men. ... migrants, who he said regularly "sexually harassed" women around the local railway station, the first stop in Germany after the railway crosses from Austria. Most remarkable in the report of Bernd of conditions on the frontier were the crippling orders he was under duty to follow, even if they made his job near impossible: "If a refugee wants...

Petrol prices could fall back to levels last seen in 2009 in a $10-a-barrel world as major banks say there is no bottom in sight for the world's lopsided market __ Oil prices have fallen to fresh lows of less than $30 a barrel amid warnings the price rout could reach as low as $10 and bring down petrol prices to levels last seen in 2009. Standard Chartered became the latest major bank to downgrade its oil outlook, joining the likes of Goldman Sachs, RBS and Morgan Stanley in making ultra-bearish calls as prices have collapsed by 15pc this year....

A federal appeals court on Monday tossed out a veteran's conviction for wearing military medals he didn't earn, saying it was a form of free speech protected by the Constitution. A specially convened 11-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the First Amendment allows people to wear unearned military honors.

The reports coming out of European and Scandinavian countries indicate that sexual assaults against women by Muslim men have become nearly epidemic in some cities, with European women regularly being attacked by military age Middle Eastern males who left their homelands and sought refuge, and were welcomed in by the governments of these nations. Yet until the most recent attacks occurring in the German city of Cologne, one might never have even know it was happening, since any news media coverage of this problem has been lacking both in Europe and here in the United States. But why have marauding...

In the wake of the Cologne sexual assaults, many are calling for refugees found guilty of such crimes to be deported... But these proposals are morally bankrupt populism.... By definition a refugee is someone being offered protection because their life is at risk in their home country. To send them back could mean sending them to their death... And the fact is that no crime in Europe warrants death - so whatever criminal act we are talking about, be it theft, sexual assault or murder, none can justifiably result in someone being deported to a country where their life is...

Four Brooklyn teenagers were charged as adults this morning in last week's gang rape of an 18-year-old woman in a playground, and a fifth suspect was being questioned by detectives, authorities said. The four boys, one as young as 14, were arraigned on a single count each of rape and sex abuse and two counts of participating in a criminal sex act. The fifth suspect, who was taken into custody at about 11am at Tilden high School, where he is a student, is awaiting charges. Police identified four of the accused rapists as Denzel Murray, 14; Shaquell Cooper and Ethan...

A leftover from Sunday that I missed yesterday. If you’re going to stand on the Senate floor and call the majority leader a liar and a crony, I guess you shouldn’t be surprised when he won’t do you a favor.Although … this is sort of a favor to Cruz, isn’t it? Every time he gets to tell his fans that it’s McCain or McConnell who’s behind the attacks on eligibility rather than Trump, it makes it easier for populist voters to dismiss them out of hand. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) says the upper chamber won't issue a...

Summary: - It's the SEIU behind the complaint against MCD. - This is about the fight for fifteen and a union in the US, not Italy or Europe. - MCD doesn't even have the dominant market position being complained about. Something of a fun complaint out of Italy about McDonald's (NYSE:MCD). That being that they own most of the real estate which is used to underlie McDonald's franchises: and that they then charge well above market rents for that real estate. Rather breathlessly we get told that this is an abuse of their dominant market position and that the European...

Trump’s supporters loved his promise last week to create a “deportation force†to remove all 11 million illegal immigrants living in America, and his repeated declaration that everyone here illegally will “have to go.†But his supporters tend to overlook his other promise—repeated in the Fox Business debate in Milwaukee on November 10—that under his immigration plan “they will come back.†That’s right. Under Trump’s immigration plan, almost all of the 11 million illegal aliens (save for a small minority with criminal records) will get to return and get permanent legal status to stay here in America. Trump supports amnesty.

Over the holidays, Europeans were rudely awakened from their utopian dream of open borders and peaceful coexistence to discover, as Oscar Wilde once wrote, "...nightmares are dreams too." Rape and personal crime are on the rise in Europe. The Courier-Mail reports that along with Germany, a rash of sexual assaults took place in Austria, Sweden and Finland on New Year's Eve. In Cologne, Germany alone, police received 120 criminal complaints with witnesses reporting that groups of 20-30 young men "who appeared to be of Arab origin," surrounded, sexually assaulted and sometimes robbed females. Finnish police also reported an "unusually high...

I am hearing some support for Donald Trump coming from fellow travelers — tea partiers, constitutional conservatives, and even a few libertarians — in my grassroots community. So I have to ask: What's up with that? At a superficial level, I get it. I get the economic anxiety and a belief, completely justified, that insiders in Washington, D.C. are really all about themselves, not the rest of us. I also get the profound political paradigm shift that is taking control from party bosses and shifting it back to the voters and activists that participate in the political process. This democratization...

A yearling mountain lion killed by a hunter in Southeast Idaho was a little toothier than usual. It had teeth as well as fur and whiskers growing out of the left side of its head. Fish and Game officials in Preston checked the male after it was killed in late December, and are hoping to be recontacted by the hunter to find out where the carcass is. Spokeswoman Jennifer Jackson says that biologists would like to check it out to see from a scientific standpoint just what was going on with the cougar. They're waiting on the hunter to return...

The Idaho Republican Party held its annual Winter Meeting over the weekend and held a presidential candidate reception and straw poll as part of the festivities. It was great news for U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who received 40 percent of the vote, followed by U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) at 18 percent. Donald Trump came in third at 13 percent, while Ben Carson and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) received 11 and 8 percent, respectively. No other candidate received more than 3 percent in the Friday evening straw poll vote. The next morning, the Republican Liberty Caucus of Idaho...
