No one protested when Pamela Geller's cartoon contest attracted about 200 people to suburban Dallas Sunday, even though some Muslims in Texas were already feeling aggrieved and fearful over growing anti-Islamic sentiment in the state. SNIP Anti-Islam sentiment has been reverberating in Texas, from the state Capitol to local governments. I was targeted by the IRS in a coordinated attack at the highest levels of government...and we now have the proof. My IRS files, obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by Judicial Watch, clearly implicate the IRS and a Democratic U.S. senator. "An IRS audit that required researching my political views clearly wasn’t a “normal random audit.” I was targeted for my political views. My civil rights were clearly violated." Per Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch: “The Obama IRS obstructed the release of Wayne Root’s tax documents. The abuse of process Judicial Watch and Wayne suffered through to...

To some, a makeshift shrine in the middle of the Ferguson street where Michael Brown was killed last summer is a hallowed symbol of a new civil rights movement over race and policing. To others, it has served its purpose and is now more of an eyesore and a road hazard. Within hours of Brown’s Aug. 9 shooting death by a white police officer, people began placing stuffed animals, candles and other tributes in the middle of Canfield Drive, where the unarmed black 18-year-old’s body lay for about four hours before it was removed. […] Ferguson Mayor James Knowles III,...

The All-Star Panel on Fox News’ “Special Report” Tuesday was extremely skeptical of former Republican Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s chances of winning the 2016 Republican presidential primary. One panelist compared him to a segregationist and another said “he has no chance” in the current political environment. “The problem is, he won Iowa once before, he has to win it again, really,” syndicated columnist George Will said. “The only person who’s done that twice in contested caucuses was Bob Dole in ’88 and ’96, and he did it by having the evangelicals, but only the evangelicals. This time around, before he...

New policy verges on apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgradeIgnite 2015 Microsoft has shown off some of the new security mechanisms embedded in Windows 10, and revealed a change to its software updates. Windows supremo Terry Myerson reckons the revised security patch rollout – effectively ditching the monthly Patch Tuesday – will shame Google. "Google takes no responsibility to update customer devices, and refuses to take responsibility to update their devices, leaving end users and businesses increasingly exposed every day they use an Android device," Myerson said during his Ignite keynote in Chicago today. He was referring to the sometimes tardy...

Voice actors and band revoke usage of their work.Game developer Skaldic Games, i.e. Randall Herman, has made a game so offensive that its page was removed from Steam Greenlight in a matter of hours. It was so offensive, in fact, that many of the game's voice actors have distanced themselves from the project and claimed they were misled about the context of their dialogue. The game in question, titled "Kill the F*****" [censoring ours], tasked players with shooting folks who appear gay or transgender in some fashion - like sporting a pink vest, for example. Upon slaying a civilian, the...

Not sure what this holiday is all about?Well, according to www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org: The Torah teaches that "the Jewish people are obligated to count the days from the second night of Passover to the day before Shavu'ot - a total of exactly seven full weeks or 49 days. This period is known as the Omer, in reference to the biblical omer which meant a unit of measure. On the second day of Passover, in the days of the Temple, an omer of barley was cut down and brought to the Temple as an offering. The counting is intended to remind us...

Russia's ministry of defence has unveiled a new array of war machines that it said would revolutionise the country's army and put it in a position to outclass Western rivals for the first time since the Cold War. Photographs released on Tuesday show the T-14 Armata tank, a semi-robotic replacement for Russia's current T-90, and its sibling armoured personnel carriers, fighting vehicles and self-propelled artillery models which will take pride of place at Saturday's Victory Day parade on Red Square. In earlier photographs released last month the turret was covered with fabric and only the chassis was visible. The Armata...

Across Massachusetts – and across America – thousands of schoolchildren are given sexually graphic, psychologically intrusive surveys by the public schools without parents’ knowledge. These surveys also ask youth to reveal their criminal activity, personal family matters, and other intimate issues. This is done in the public middle schools and high schools during school hours. At best, parents are told about the surveys in vague terms, but are rarely allowed read them beforehand. The surveys are “officially” anonymous and voluntary. But they are administered by the teacher in a classroom and (according to teachers we’ve talked to) there is often...

Spark aimed at saving lives. Australia's peak science and research organisation today released a homegrown software tool to help emergency services predict the severity and spread of destructive bushfires. The CSIRO's Spark tool gathers geospatial data on topography, vegetation, humidity and wind patterns from Landsat satellites, and combines it with data provided by fire authorities to give an accurate prediction of fire behaviour. The organisation expects Spark will not only help emergency services save lives, but also reduce the financial burden of bushfires. Spark should also allow emergency services to better manage infrastructure planning, fire fighting resource allocation and deployment,...

...That means the first task any potential GOP nominee has in 2016 is energizing the base of the Republican Party in the primary. And right now nobody is doing a better job of that than Ted Cruz, and the proof is in the pudding. In my home state where the first step to winning the Iowa Caucuses is to win the activist caucuses going on now, Cruz announced a 24-person campaign that amounts to a mini-conservative dream team. It includes several current and former GOP office-holders, candidates, and important activists. Even more impressively, these are names that previously worked for...
