The legal journey of Sergey Aleynikov, the former Goldman Sachs computer programmer, has been almost Kafkaesque. The latest — but certainly not last — step came in a verdict last week in New York State court that hit all three possible outcomes: guilty of one charge of unlawful use of secret scientific material based on computer code he took from Goldman, a hung jury on a nearly identical charge, and an acquittal for unlawful duplication of computer-related material. The case began with Mr. Aleynikov’s arrest by federal agents nearly six years ago at the Newark Liberty International Airport. Since then,...

RUSH: Former President Bill Clinton is surfacing to defend the Clinton Crime Family Foundation because, as predicted, news stories about the Clinton Foundation are scaring off the people that want to bribe the Clintons, the access-buyers. The reason that is happening is because the scam has been exposed. The scam is that it isn't about charity. It's about personal enrichment by selling future access and granting favors from a sitting secretary of state for exorbitant sums of money, under the guide of selflessness. The Clintons have gone out and they tell these donors (Clinton impression), "You know, the American people...

“The belief that Islam is a peaceful religion and that Islamic terrorists have twisted that faith to unrecognizable extremes is a false interpretation that surrounds today’s narrative regarding Islam”, writes Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch. The greater overall threat this misconception poses is neglected because of fear and outright denial to acknowledge what or who our enemy truly is. The more we lie to ourselves and allow our politicians, media and government officials to lie to us, the more we enable terrorists to become embolden. Spencer further notes, “we cannot possible defeat an enemy whom we refuse to understand, refuse...

Of course he was a convict. Elton Simpson was the first figure identified in the latest eruption from the Religion of Peace™ — an attempted massacre at an exhibition of anti-Islamist cartoons in suburban Garland, Texas, which ended in the shooting of Simpson and his coconspirator, because Texas is where terrorists go to get out-gunned at an art show. Simpson and his pal are as dead as a tuna casserole — in Texas, we shoot back. We got lucky when luck wasn’t what we needed. Simpson was, like the overwhelming majority of murderers and most of those who commit serious...

DEVELOPING: Baltimore police shot a man multiple times Monday in the same area where massive riots broke out last week over the death of Freddie Gray.
-
After a week of unrest in Baltimore, chief prosecutor Marilyn Mosby calmed the waters Friday by indicting six police officers in the death of Freddie Gray. “To the people of Baltimore and the demonstrators across America, I have heard your call for ‘No justice, no peace,’” Mosby declared. When justice is not deaf, one wonders whether it can be blind. But I’ll leave others to ponder that. Because the Baltimore riots exposed something with much farther-reaching implications than the Freddie Gray tragedy: More than five decades into the War on Poverty, our inner cities remain wastelands of dysfunction and despair....

Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore issued a statement demanding that police officers in America be barred from carrying firearms and that all imprisoned African Americans be released. Moore says he sees this "as a long term balancing of the scales. For hundreds of years in this country Blacks were enslaved and at the mercy of white overlords. Cosmic justice cries out for a reversal of this tyranny of white over Black. Let's see how the white man fares under racial oppression." The looting of white-owned businesses in Baltimore was characterized by Moore as "long overdue reparations for slavery" and the random...

GEORGETOWN, Texas (CBS Houston) — It was a scene straight out of “The Naked Gun.” Rachael Jonrowe, mayor pro tem for Georgetown, Texas, was speaking during a council meeting about deadly infectious diseases when everyone in the room could hear someone going to the bathroom.

You know that recovery in the housing market that’s just around the corner? It’s not coming, no matter how confidently market watchers gloss over the recent string of weak economic reports, one analyst said Monday. “The street is still waiting on the cyclical bounce that all prior post war recoveries experienced to show through in the data. Unfortunately, our analysis suggests that a cyclical pop for housing is not going to happen due to the bursting of the housing bubble which led to the financial crises,” said Steven Ricchiuto, chief economist with Mizuho Securities USA. Take a look at housing...

May 4, 2015 (ThePublicDiscourse.com) -- Bruce Jenner and Diane Sawyer could benefit from a history lesson. I know, because I suffered through “sex change†surgery and lived as a woman for eight years. The surgery fixed nothing—it only masked and exacerbated deeper psychological problems. The beginnings of the transgender movement have gotten lost today in the push for transgender rights, acceptance, and tolerance. If more people were aware of the dark and troubled history of sex-reassignment surgery, perhaps we wouldn’t be so quick to push people toward it.The setting for the first transgender surgeries (mostly male-to-female) was in university-based clinics, starting in the...

Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Jon Tester (D-Mont.) want every state to offer same-day voter registration for federal elections. The Democratic senators have reintroduced the Same Day Registration Act, which would require states to allow voters to register on the day of an election. Ten states, plus the District of Columbia, currently allow eligible voters to do so, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. In addition, the group notes that Illinois is expected to implement statewide same-day voter registration later this year. Advocates argue it can help increase voter turnout, while opponents say it increases the chances for...

(VIDEO-AT-LINK) Conservative radio host Glenn Beck said on his show Monday that he's "not sure" Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is able to "govern." Beck made the comment while discussing each of the potential GOP presidential nominees and what he saw as their ability to lead. "We are looking at unbelievable times ahead of us," Beck said. "And I would say on this, I'm not sure [Cruz] could get the coalition together. He'll be a bulldog and he'll stand for principles but I'm not sure that he could govern. I'm not sure yet." One of Beck's co-hosts asked how Cruz...

Early in President Obama’s tenure in the White House, Catholic Online and other media outlets reported what appeared to be a deliberate attack on the Constitution’s “freedom of religion” protections. The report noted a crucial change in Obama’s language between his June 2009 speech in Cairo, Egypt, where he spoke of a Muslim America and its “freedom of religion,” to the November 2009 memorial for the Fort Hood soldiers gunned down by a radical Muslim, where he termed it “freedom of worship.” From that point on, “freedom of worship” has become the term of choice, the report said. Now, the...

The solar energy industry may prove to be a dark horse in the race to provide global energy security. The world has renewed its interest in solar energy investment as it searches for a cleaner and more sustainable alternative to conventional fossil fuels. Countries like China, Germany, the UK, the US, Japan and Canada have already made significant investments in solar power. Who are the other players who are investing big in solar energy? With its own set of limitations such as high installation costs and high plug-in time, are consumers across the world ready to choose solar energy to...

One of the two men killed while trying to shoot up a Garland, Texas, event featuring controversial cartoons of the Muslim Prophet Mohammed linked himself to ISIS in a tweet posted just before the attack. The man, identified by a federal law enforcement source as Elton Simpson, apparently posted a tweet before the attack that read, in part, "May Allah accept us as mujahideen." The tweet from Simpson also said he and his fellow attacker had pledged loyalty to "Amirul Mu'mineen" (the leader of the faithful), which CNN terrorism analyst Paul Cruickshank said probably refers to ISIS leader Abu Bakr...

This High-Res Moon Photo Was Made by a Self-Taught Astrophotographer May 04, 2015 · Michael Zhang   It’s amazing the kinds of space photos that amateur photographers can create from their own backyards these days. Case in point: the high-resolution moon photo above was captured last week by Polish photographer Bartosz Wojczyński. It was stitched together using 32000 separate photos. Wojczyński tells us that he used “advanced image acquisition and processing techniques,†mapping violet and infrared images of the moon to blue and red channels in the final shot. It took him about 28 minutes to shoot 32000 photos...

Good morning Austin: Today’s question. Who is more populist – Bernie Sanders or Ted Cruz? Bernie, right?I mean his campaign is all about – all about – wealth and income inequality and breaking up the incredible concentration of American wealth in the hands of a tiny few. He’s so far left in the Democratic Party that he’s not even actually a member of the Democratic Party. At a time when Democrats are afraid of being called “liberal,” he’s proud to call himself a socialist. He’s running against the Koch Brothers and Cruz is a creature of the Kochs. So, no...
