Texas Shooting Suspect Linked Himself to ISIS in Tweets
CNN ^

Posted on 05/04/2015 11:44:22 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

One of the two men killed while trying to shoot up a Garland, Texas, event featuring controversial cartoons of the Muslim Prophet Mohammed linked himself to ISIS in a tweet posted just before the attack.

The man, identified by a federal law enforcement source as Elton Simpson, apparently posted a tweet before the attack that read, in part, "May Allah accept us as mujahideen."

The tweet from Simpson also said he and his fellow attacker had pledged loyalty to "Amirul Mu'mineen" (the leader of the faithful), which CNN terrorism analyst Paul Cruickshank said probably refers to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi.

After the shooting, an ISIS propagandist that Simpson had earlier asked his readers to follow tweeted, "Allahu Akbar!!!! 2 of our brothers just opened fire" at the Texas event.

"If there is no check on the freedom of your speech, then let your hearts be open to the freedom of our actions," tweeted the propagandist, who was identified by two American groups that monitor jihadi websites as Junaid Hussain, a British ISIS fighter in Syria who goes by the name Abu Hussein al Britani.

I could tweet a supposed link to Burger King an then go out and commit a crime. That wouldn’t mean it was true.

This was a couple of malcontents desperate for attention, and fulfilling an ISIS request to attack Americans in our homeland.

Probably a couple of no-account wanna-bes.

Why are you downplaying an Islamic terror attack?

“controversial cartoons of the Muslim Prophet Mohammed”

Says who?

Some years back the same liberal jackasses were defending “Piss Christ” as ‘art.’

No, but then Burger King isn’t desperate to make it look like it has operatives inside the U. S. doing those sorts of things.

Back in the aircraft hijack days in the Middle-East, you’d have three or four terrorist groups claiming responsibility for a hijacking before you’d find out the one who actually did it.

IMO, this is more or less the same thing on ISIS part.

It was desperately to look like a global concern attacking the U. S. in the heartland.

While you may get an actually player once in a while, I see these two guys as wing-nuts.

They were as desperate to look relevant as ISIS is.

I believe that you empower the other side by giving them credit for things like this.

I believe it’s best to recognize these two as kooks.

I would rather see the Islamic leadership in the U. S. called to account for what they teach, advocate for, and incorporate into their goals here.

ISIS wants desperately to be seen as “very active” in the U. S., and I think you just give them power when you agree to it.

It helps them recruit. It makes them look more powerful on the world stage.

I would term this a terrorist attack. I wouldn’t glorify ISIS by attributing it to them.

most any of the homegrown muslims ive ever read anything about have changed their names.

they don’t seem keen on retaining their anglo sounding monkers and usually have Mohammed as at least one of their names.

even John Mohammed adopted at least one muslime name

Well, one was indicted by the FBI and charged and convicted of lying to the FBI. He claimed he did not want to go to Africa and join jihad in Somalia. Only problem for him was he was telling an FBI informant that he was.

Actually a judge threw out the charge of wanting to join a terrorist group in Africa, but he was under probation for terrorist activities.

Up North they let them bomb things at will and then riot if the police do anything to stop terrorists.

In Texas, the bad guys are dead before they have taken 3 steps out of their car and the police get a medal.

In January 17,2015, and in the same public school center, there was a “Stand with the Prophet” rally by Muslims, a pro-Shariah law event, by supporters Al-Qaida and Isis organized by one of the terrorists implicate in the bombing of the garage of the NY World Trade Center in 1993. I wonder if those who try to blame the organizers of the “First Annual Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest,” for the Muslim terrorist attack would have justified if some patriotic American had irrupted in Muslim rally on January 2015 and made a massacre of Islamic terrorists. After all, Americans are profoundly offended by the abuse of our freedoms by those who made the Muslim rally in support of the savages that decapitate, crucify and burned Christians alive, a real grievance more justified than the alleged offense provoked among the Islamic fanatics by the Mohamed cartoons.
