In explaining why the Bible is a best seller year after year, Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington said there is something "tugging" inside of us, "telling us to believe in something," which is God, and that the Bible provides "the answer people are looking for" even if they do not realize it at first.

There is so much at stake for the charlatans that have foisted the failed “global warming” hoax, followed by the equally dubious claims and predictions regarding “climate change”, that it should come as no surprise that they have begun to wage a propaganda war on the courageous scientists who led the struggle to educate the public about the truth and the organizations who supported their efforts. Along the way, many groups and publications claiming scientific credentials abandoned those standards to pump out global warming and climate change propaganda. Scientists discovered they could secure grant money for “research” so long as...

One of the definitions of the word “legacy” is something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor, or from the past. Just this past weekend, 21 year-old Jordan Spieth became the second-youngest competitor to ever win the Masters Golf tournament. His impeccable, 18 under par finish ties that of Tiger Woods. During the spectacle we have come to know as “March Madness,” the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team continued to build an impressive legacy with their 10th national championship. And the Duke men’s basketball team won their 5th national championship. The University of Kentucky fell just two...

Religious oppression was one reason many of our ancestors came to America. They wanted to escape rulers who demanded that everyone worship their way. In Ireland, Catholics couldn't vote or own a gun. I assumed that because many of America's founders came here to escape such repression, they were eager to allow religious freedom in America. After all, the very First Amendment in the Bill of Rights says, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion." But I was wrong. On my TV show this week, Chapman University economist Larry Iannaccone explains that many American settlers were just...

A group of 10 undocumented women will start a partial hunger strike this Tuesday to protest against their detention at a center that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has in Karnes City, Texas, according to a non-profit organization which provides legal representation to some of the facility's detainees. During a conference call held this morning, Mohammad Abdollahi, member and one of the spokespersons of the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES), said the women, who have their children with them, "are gonna have one meal a day each evening (during a week), however they are gonna...

WASHINGTON — The White House relented on Tuesday and said President Obama would sign a compromise bill giving Congress a voice on the proposed nuclear accord with Iran as the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, in rare unanimous agreement, moved the legislation to the full Senate for a vote. An unusual alliance of Republican opponents of the nuclear deal and some of Mr. Obama’s strongest Democratic supporters demanded a congressional role as international negotiators work to turn this month’s nuclear framework into a final deal by June 30. White House officials insisted they extracted crucial last-minute concessions. Republicans — and many...

University tuition continues to rise, but the tendency of some critics to blame the trend on overpaid professors might not be an accurate one. When university administrators in the UNC system and nationwide decide to increase tuition, they often cite the need for funds to retain faculty as a reason for the hike. Still, according to an annual report about myths of professor pay from the American Association of University Professors, faculty salaries are not the primary cause of higher student costs — cuts to state support and declining university endowments are to blame. But Jenna Robinson, president of the...

He is the first two-term Republican to hold the position of governor in Florida. “Liberty University is honored to welcome Gov. Jeb Bush to campus for our 42nd commencement exercises,” President Jerry Falwell said. “Throughout his years of public service, Gov. Strange but Rich Verses File: What Does Acts 1:4 Mean by Saying That Jesus Was “Eating Salt with Them”? By: Msgr. Charles PopeThere is an unusual verse that occurs in the first chapter of the Acts the Apostles, describing a gathering of Jesus and the Apostles after the resurrection but before the ascension. For the most part, modern translations do not reveal the full oddity of the verse. The verse in question, as rendered by the Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition, is,And while staying with them he charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father (Acts 1:4).However,...

'"It is as if nothing has been learned from the confrontations with secular and atheist ideologies in the last 50 years. The passages he chose to quote from John XXIII and Paul VI are revealing: the former's dichotomy between the Council's "medicine of mercy" as contrasted with "severity", and the latter's glowing profession of trust and admiration for the modern world. Francis, for all of his talk of going forward, seems intent on going back to the naiveté of the immediate post-Conciliar years. With the Jubilee of Mercy as the instrument of this time-travel."

By almost a full percentage point India’s economic growth may surpass China’s much sooner than initially expected, with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasting earlier this week that Delhi will take the lead in 2015. The IMF’s World Economic Outlook, released Tuesday, indicates that India’s growth rate will rise to 7.5% this year, while China’s is expected to drop to 6.8% from 7.4% last year.

Pope Francis has admitted that he has "some nerve problems" which require treatment as well as various neuroses. See here. A neuroses is defined as, "A relatively mild mental illness that is not caused by organic disease, involving symptoms of stress such as depression, anxiety, obsessive behavior and hypochondria." Now, I would never make light of another person's mental illness or disorder. There but for the grace of God go I as Saint Philip Neri once said. Time to put the pedal to the metal. On a sunny Sunday afternoon, just hours after officially declaring her presidential bid, Hillary Clinton hopped into a black van for a 16-hour road trip from Chappaqua, New York to Iowa. Clinton is traveling with longtime aide Huma Abedin and spokesperson Nick Merrill. Secret service is with them and she is not likely behind the wheel herself. The trip will take her along I-80 through the swing states of Pennsylvania and Ohio before she arrives in Iowa. Americans love road trips. As Clinton prepares for her first public appearance as a presidential...

The finding by the Government Accountability Office presents chilling new scenarios for passengers. The report doesn't suggest it would be easy to do, or very likely. But it points out that as airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration attempt to modernize planes and flight tracking with Internet-based technology, attackers have a new vulnerability they could exploit. The avionics in a cockpit operate as a self-contained unit and aren't connected to the same system used by passengers to watch movies or work on their laptops. But as airlines update their systems with Internet-based networks, it's not uncommon for Wi-Fi systems to...

I think it's time for another FreeRepublic Wager. Basically, we decide on an event that's going to happen one way or another shortly. (Like who would win a sporting event, or if someone on trial is found guilty or not guilty.) Everyone makes their predictions, then after the event has passed, those who predicted incorrectly agrees to pay $20 in donations to FreeRepublic. Several months ago, we had a thread on how SCOTUS will rule on Obamacare (still pending), and hopefully everyone will keep to their pledge if they predicted wrong. So...your ideas?
  • Full - Mark Levin EXPOSES how US Senate just GUTTED constitutional treaty power and GAVE IT TO OBAMA

Mark Levin exposes the treachery in the US Senate today, who he says just capitulated completely to Obama by gutting their own constitutional duty to approve treaties, giving it solely to Obama. So in short, Obama can make a treaty with the Islamo-Nazis in Iran without submitting it to the Senate and the Senate can only stop it if they can get enough nays to vote against it.
