GOP primary voters aren’t thrilled with Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and nearly half wish they had a more conservative Senate candidate to support, a new poll finds. According to a survey from Public Policy Polling, 49 percent of GOP primary voters want a more conservative Senate candidate than Cornyn, who is up for reelection next year, while 33 percent back him. His approval rating clocks in at 46-33 percent among those voters. Sixty-two percent of Republican primary voters surveyed think more highly of the state’s junior senator, Republican Ted Cruz, than they do of Cornyn. But the Texas primary filing...

Fourteen Marines on their way home from serving in Afghanistan were upgraded to first class on their flight from Chicago to San Diego. The Marines learned that American Airlines - which has a policy to upgrade servicemen and women in uniform whenever possible - had six empty seats in first class for the group. That gesture was followed by seven first-class passengers who jumped out of their seats for the other Marines so they could sit together. "It was incredibly touching," Capt. Pravin Rajan said in a telephone interview from Camp Pendleton in California. "Afghanistan is a very complex and...

I doubt they'll pass it, if they're dumb enough to pursue such a policy they'll probably be too dumb to figure out that this graphic means it's not working.A former colleague from a job I had years ago (even before TLS) posted this to their Facebook wall...obviously they're unhappy about this.Even though I received permission to share this the name and any indicator of where they're from has been redacted to respect privacy.

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)The public’s problems in trying to deal with the troubled Health Insurance Marketplace website aren’t the only problems plaguing the system. WNCN Investigates learned the state’s largest insurer has experienced a number of problems with the system Blue Cross Blue Shield has more than 3.7 million customers in our state, but internal emails obtained by WNCN show that as of last Friday, only one person had enrolled for health insurance through the Exchange and that person hasn’t paid. Without payment, enrollment means nothing because the customer is still not officially in the system.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius admitted Wednesday that it was possible convicted felons could be hired as ObamaCare ‘navigators,’ giving them access to personal information like Social Security numbers and addresses of anyone signing up for the program. Sebelius made the admission in an exchange with Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas., during a Senate Finance Committee hearing. It was the second time in a week Sebelius was on Capitol Hill, forced to defend the problem-plagued ObamaCare website. “Isn’t it true that there is no federal requirement for navigators to undergo a criminal background check,” Cornyn asked her. “That is...

This is a map that I pulled from the Virginia State Board of Election site showing the unofficial results of the governor's race county by county, and city by city. Red = Cuccinelli, Blue = McAuliffe. The annotations and commentary are my own analysis of how McAuliffe managed to win this contest.

In George Orwell’s dystopian novel, “1984,” which describes life in an oppressive, virtually inescapable Surveillance State, the vocabulary of the populace is so tightly controlled and manipulated by the central government, it becomes a language unto its own: Newspeak. The purpose of Newspeak is to limit individual thought and provide the government virtually complete control over how citizens communicate. This, in turn, allows government agents to engineer whatever reality best serves the interests of the State. As a result, “truth” is whatever government wants it to be at a particular time and under specific circumstances; and the vast majority of...

Erick Erickson reported today on RedState that expected Democrat for governor candidate in Texas, Wendy Davis, once claimed in court her mental health was damaged by negative coverage of her city council campaign in a local newspaper. Davis, labeled as the “abortion Barbie” by some, after her filibuster of the abortion restrictions that later passed in the Texas legislature, is considered the Democrats leading candidate to run for governor of the state in 2014. In 1996, Davis had run for city council in Fort Worth, Texas, and lost the election. She filed suit against the Fort Worth Star-Telegram for defamation....

Josh Barry, of Camp Hill, Penn., wants to know why the president of the local teacher’s union thinks he’s a neo-Nazi after he complained about a classroom assignment that he believed to be biased. “I’m Jewish and my wife is half-black, half-white,” Barry told me in a telephone interview. “I am the furthest thing from a neo-Nazi.” Last week, his daughter’s eighth grade American History class at East Pennsboro Middle School was asked to analyze a New York Times story about the recent government shutdown. Barry, who said he is a registered independent, read the story and then read a...

Here's a list of events and instances that this President, President Barack Hussein Obama, has personally been involved in: Obama abjectly and knowingly lied about OBamaCare, misrepresenting it to Congress in order to get it passed, and lieing about it and its impact to the entire country time and again. Obama abjectly and knowingly lied about the Terrorist attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi to the entire country, and the world, covering up the death, at the hands of our enemies, of a US Ambassador, a US State Department employee and two US Navy SEALS. Obama has abjectly and...

Jon Runyan, R-N.J., announced on Wednesday that he will not seek re-election in the Garden State’s 3rd District, creating an unexpected opening in a competitive district for 2014.“After a great deal of thought and discussions with my family, I have decided not to seek re- election in 2014,†Runyan said in a statement. “Politics shouldn’t be a career and I never intended to make it one.â€The two-term Republican is one of 17 members of the House GOP caucus to represent a district...

The UAW has put together a flier on right-to-work "facts" that it is handing out to union members. The pamphlet's facts are wrong. I'll stay away from some of the statements that are more nuanced — for example, the UAW says the law requires them to provide services for all employees in a union shop, but neglects to mention that they fought to make that the law to increase bargaining power. Instead, I'll focus on the figures that are demonstrably untrue. Claim: "Workers in free bargaining states make on average an astounding $6,590 or 17% more annually than their counterparts...

I know this will get a lot of replies but go for it. I just want to get some opinions on the different rifles out there to help me decide. I grew up in PA until I was 11 so I never got to actually hunt with my brother and dad so I'm not super educated about all of the rifles out there. I have pistols, shotguns and a couple of .22 rifles but now I would like to get a decent rifle for deer in case I get an opportunity to go hunting with a friend. Nothing too fancy...

So it turns out Terry McAuliffe and Ken Cuccinelli were able to draw away enough votes to keep Robert Sarvis from winning Virginia’s governor’s race. I hope the folks who put those guys on the ballot are happy. Last night, my Twitter feed had quite a few conservatives laying the blame on Sarvis for costing Cuccinelli the election (which really isn’t true according to polls, and it probably wouldn’t even had been a close outcome but for the Obamacare mess). So in the spirit of reconciliation, here are some tips from a typical third-party voter to major party movers and...
