Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem Exodus 17 Water from the Rock 1. Then all the congregation of the children of Israel set out on their journey from the Wilderness of Sin, according to the commandment of the LORD, and camped in Rephidim; but there was no water for the people to drink. 2. Therefore the people contended with Moses, and said, “Give us water, that we may drink.” So Moses said to them, “Why do you contend with me? Why do you tempt the LORD?” 3. And the people thirsted there for water, and the people complained against...

CBS Masters art of following Woods Updated: 6:07 AM, April 11, 2011 The unsurprising twist about the weekend's Masters coverage on CBS is that Saturday's was no different from Sunday's. When Tiger Woods was behind by five, Saturday, or tied at the top, yesterday, it was still mostly all Woods, mostly all the time. What TV now does best is beat things to death. Doesn't matter who or what it is -- Charlie Sheen or Charles Barkley -- TV is going to squeeze it dry. The Masters used to be televised by CBS as one of golf's majors, as special....

SINGAPORE: Spot silver may surge to record highs above $50 an ounce by the end of 2011, based on technical chart observations by Reuters analyst Wang Tao. Silver was one of the strongest performers of 2010 and has rallied by a third so far in 2011, to trade at a 31-year high of $41.93 on Monday. "The super bull cycle appears to have started from a low at $3.53 in 1993, rising during the subsequent 15 years to the 2008 high at $21.24," Wang said. "That can be labeled as wave "A", and the subsequent sharp drop to the 2008...

A young Tauranga man wants "legal weed" banned, claiming an addiction to it drove him to steal and left him riddled with anxiety. Student Robert Moore, 23, (pictured) says he smoked up to $80 of Kronic each day and claims the marijuana alternative has had damaging psychological and physical effects on him. But Kronic has rejected the claims, saying its products are not addictive and are harmless unless used irresponsibly. The R18 synthetic cannabinoid is made from a mixture of dried herbs and is available at about 20 outlets across the Western Bay. The product usually contains the 1,1-dimethyloctyl homologue...

Pope St. Martin I Denver, Colo., Apr 10, 2011 / 08:01 am (CNA).- Catholics will celebrate the memory of Pope St. Martin I on April 13. The saint suffered exile and humiliation for his defense of orthodoxy in a dispute over the relationship between Christ's human and divine natures. Martin was born in the Italian city of Tuscany, during either the late sixth or early seventh century. He became a deacon and served in Rome, where he acquired a reputation for education and holiness. Pope Theodore I chose Martin as his representative to the emperor in Constantinople during a...

JUNEAU — The state House on Saturday easily cleared a plan to clarify — or broaden, depending on who’s talking — people’s right to defend themselves with deadly force. It would expand the explicit (in state law) right to use lethal force to apply anywhere someone has “a right to be.” Proponents say it will assure everyone in Alaska he or she does not need to back off if they find themselves in a dangerous situation and want to fight back with a lethal weapon. Rep. Eric Feige, R-Chickaloon and a co-sponsor, said the change would send two messages. To...

"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."(John 14:27) "Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare of the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I am trusting Him."(Psalm 91:1-2)

Statements made regarding conservative skeptics of SB 1, the pending school choice legislation in the Pennsylvania legislature, at the 2011 Pa. Leadership Conference has those skeptics seeing blue. An email blast sent by Lisa Esler of the Delaware County Patriots notes that critics of SB1 were not represented on a panel aimed at discussing the bill and that those on the panel were insulting to the critics and painted a false picture of their motives. Mrs. Esler, in her email, said that Matt Kibbe of Freedomworks called the critics "bedwetters" while State Sen. Jeff Piccola (R-15), who is one of...

Homosexual men are to be allowed to give blood for the first time, in a move which will increase fears of transfustion patients contracting HIV. The ban on gay men donating blood is being lifted because it was decided that the rule could be discriminatory and might breach equality legislation. There are estimated to be 86,500 people with HIV in Britain, with a quarter unaware that they have an infection. About 42% of people infected with HIV in 2009 were homosexual men, according to the Terrence Higgins Trust, the HIV charity. Homosexual men are also at risk of passing on...

The White House stopped just short of dismissing Donald Trump as a clown Sunday - calling him a "sideshow" act with "zero chance" of becoming president. SNIP Trump countered that he represents Obama's biggest nightmare in the 2012 race and that the White house is running scared. "I know for a fact that I am the only candidate they are concerned with," Trump told The Daily News. "They are very concerned because I am challenging him as to whether or not he was born in this country where there is a real doubt." "He should focus on properly dealing with...

Although my organization’s home office is in Washington, DC, I log some 150,000 miles a year flying around the country. Traveling back and forth from the nation’s capital provides good perspective on the bold contrast between the realities there and the rest of America. Washington is booming today while working Americans in cities across the rest of our nation struggle to see the economic light of day. Washington Business Journal reports that, based on their latest annual job growth data from February 2010 to February 2011, DC is the number one job market in the nation. Compared to a national...

PORTLAND -- Ceasefire Oregon collected 243 guns Saturday at a turn-in event at Portland’s Memorial Coliseum. The group worked with the newly reinstated Portland Police gun task force to host the event. The firearms collected Saturday were given to police and will be destroyed. For each gun turned in, the owner received a $50 Fred Meyer gift card. Helen Carons and Andrew Perez, who attended the event, were both affected by gun violence two years ago when Perez accidentally shot Carons' son. "I just want to thank everyone for turning in their guns,” Carons said. “I really do appreciate it....

Donald Trump might be off base with his birther views. But does that mean he shouldn't be allowed on TV to express them? Yes--according to Charles Blow of the New York Times. I have decided that Groklaw will stop publishing new articles on our anniversary, May 16. I know a lot of you will be unhappy to hear it, so let me briefly explain, because my decision is made and it's firm. In a simple sentence, the reason is this: the crisis SCO initiated over Linux is over, and Linux won. SCO as we knew it is no more. There will be other battles, and there already are, because the same people that propped SCO up are still going to try to destroy Linux, but the battlefield has shifted, and I don't...

Sorry boys, Betty Dukes is not a California girl who models daisy dukes. She’s a Californian in her sixties who is leading the charge in Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. v. Betty Dukes, et. al. Six female plaintiffs, led by Betty Dukes, are current and former Wal-Mart employees with sexual discrimination charges against Wal-Mart. They seek to represent the group of over 1.5 million women who have worked at 3,400 domestic Wal-Mart retail stores since December 26, 1998. This case has been moving through the court system since 2001. Last spring, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth District ruled in...

For Katie Couric, the offer in 2006 to become the anchor of “CBS Evening News” came with another incentive, one she prized almost as highly, according to two of her friends: the chance to report for “60 Minutes,” the newsmagazine that for Ms. Couric stood for the kind of serious journalism she had always aspired to. Regular appearances on “60 Minutes” were written into her $15 million-a-year contract with CBS, but once she arrived at the network, she found a chilly reception from some of the staff members at the venerable program. Some of Ms. Couric’s associates said that the...

In 2006, Senator Obama wisely said, “Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.†Amen! But as President, working with the Democrat-controlled Senate, he’s toying with a government shut down over the House’s responsible $40 billion cut in a proposed $3.83 trillion 2011 federal budget. That’s just over a one percent cut in spending! This comical political display from the party that...
