In the wake of the massive 9/12 march on Washington, American citizens outraged by President Obama and the actions of Congress are now setting their sights on a new target – the so-called mainstream media. Talk show host Rush Limbaugh urged citizens who are frustrated by a media blackout of the nation's growing movement against Obama administration policies to bring their protests to the front doors of major media outlets...

Peter Schiff, a Waterbury money manager, author and financial pundit, today used "Morning Joe" as the platform from which to launch his much-anticipated bid to challenge Sen. Christopher Dodd. The announcement came as no great surprise. There have been multiple reports, it was teased on a twitter feed and a grassroots group of California liberatarians have been pushing for Schiff to run for months. "Smashed your TV? Fix it and tune into Morning Joe at 8:15 tomorrow morning!," Schiff tweeted yesterday afternoon. A Web site for Schiff's campaign is already up and running.

Whom do Democrats trust more for news: Fox News or the New York Times? With all the vitriol directed against Fox News, one would think that it is a no brainer. But a new Pew Research Center for the People & the Press poll shows that it is Fox News. While 43 percent of Democrats have a positive view of Fox News, 39 percent of Democrats feel the same way about the New York Times. Of course among Republicans or Independents it isn't even a close contest. 72 percent of Republicans have a favorable view of Fox News compared to...

I don’t sing in my videos (much to the relief of every living creature). I don’t dance either (there is a limit to self-deprecation). But Tim Hawkins does sing and dance, and he uses those skills to great effect in this video. Enjoy.

How Obama Tried to Kill the Brazil-France Military Deal Written by José Wilson Miranda Thursday, 17 September 2009 Les Echos, a French daily, has shown a little of what they say happened backstage during the negotiations between Brazil and France to buy the French military jet Rafale. Trying to upstage his French colleague, American president Barack Obama called Brazilian president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva twice, says the Paris newspaper. Les Echos revealed up-to-now unknown information on the Obama administration's efforts to make sure the Brazilian government would choose the F-18 manufactured by Boeing, instead of the French fighter. The...

New Book Debunks Human-Chimp Similarity by Brian Thomas, M.S.* Evolutionary science repeatedly declares that chimps and humans are 98 percent genetically identical, which is then taken as solid evidence that mankind evolved from an apelike ancestor. But a former BBC producer’s new book has found reasons to emphasize research that is often overlooked by evolutionary advocates—scientific results that reveal the uniqueness of man. In Not a Chimp: The hunt to find the genes that make us human, which was reviewed in New Scientist magazine, evolutionist Jeremy Taylor investigated not only the genetic distinctions between humans and apes, but also the...

Even though one doesn't want to run. A poll shows Joe Kennedy remains the favorite for his uncle's Senate seat despite his decision to remain at Citizens Energy. Republican prospects look predictably bleak.

Is propaganda just a quaint artifact of the past, or are art, design, and other communications being used now to exert a subtle but powerful influence in the political arena? And—are taxpayer dollars being used to fund it? (Make sure you read through to the end for the answer to that one) In the commercial arena, US businesses spent over $400 billion on marketing in 2008, down from much higher numbers in years previous. Business is driven by the bottom line, so all that spending must be reaping big rewards. What happens when the tools of marketing influence are turned...

Snow Leopard lacks security features that are built in to Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7, a noted Mac researcher has said. Dubbed ASLR, for address space layout randomisation, the technology randomly assigns data to memory to make it tougher for attackers to determine the location of critical operating system functions, and thus make it harder for them to craft reliable exploits. "Apple didn't change anything," said Charlie Miller, of Baltimore-based Independent Security Evaluators, the co-author of The Mac Hacker's Handbook, and winner of two consecutive "Pwn2own" hacker contests. "It's the exact same ASLR as in Leopard, which means...

During the campaign in 2008, President Obama was quite clear about what was needed in Afghanistan. Although he did state that military action was not enough, he described the situation as precarious and urgent, with Afghanistan being the central front in the war on terror. So now he’s taking a wait and see attitude? Here’s a clip from the CBS interview in July 2008. He seemed pretty clear as to what his strategy was at the time.

Once again, the usual discord. On the one hand, U.S. envoy George Mitchell is in Israel to try — once again — to drum up Israeli-Palestinian peace talks that in President Obama’s vision are supposed to blossom, and in a rather short time, into an overall Arab-Israeli peace. On the other hand, the latest hit in the region is Jews as murderous organ harvesters. A story first offered by Algeria’s al-Khabar daily and now spreading like wildfire, the Jerusalem Post reports, in “the anti-Semitic blogosphere and many Arab and Muslim media outlets,” notably including Iran’s official Press TV agency, claims...

AND NOW . . . amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke. . . it is time for . . . that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-the-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and he’s not retiring until every American agrees with him, do NOT doubt him, with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name...

The morning after President Obama's address to Congress on health care reform last week, Jonah Sachs sat in a Berkeley cafe and took the pulse of a dispirited half of the country. "People working on progressive issues, with truth and information on their side -- those should be the greatest weapons," the co-founder and creative director of the design and strategy firm Free Range Studios said. "But those things are actually a huge liability. The left ends up relying on truth and information too much, and neglecting the impact of the emotional and the irrational." When it comes to the...

On Sept. 12, a large crowd gathered in Washington to protest ... what? The goals of Congress and the Obama Administration, mainly — the cost, the scale, the perceived leftist intent. The crowd's agenda was wide-ranging, so it's hard to be more specific. "End the Fed," a sign read. A schoolboy's placard denounced "Obama's Nazi Youth Militia." Another poster declared, "We the People for Capitalism Not Socialism." If you get your information from liberal sources, the crowd numbered about 70,000, many of them greedy racists. If you get your information from conservative sources, the crowd was hundreds of thousands strong,...

The health-care proposal unveiled yesterday by Senate Finance Committee chairman Max Baucus is fundamentally flawed because — like the other flavors of Obamacare — it tries to expand coverage through coercion and hidden taxes instead of through consumer choice and price competition in a free market. Like the bills that have been approved by committees in the House and Senate, the Baucus plan is built on mandates, expanded governmental control, and taxes. It would require all Americans to sign up for government-approved insurance or face a hefty federal tax penalty — up to $3,800 per family. Employers would be required...

Pushing for health care reform didn’t turn out so well for the last first lady in a Democratic White House. But with a retooled staff and an under-the-radar summer behind her, Michelle Obama plans a packed autumn that aides say will include a “dedicated focus” on health insurance reform — the same issue that brought such headaches to Hillary Clinton. “She will do things that fit in with what she cares about, like health care reform and the implications it has for family and kids,” said Camille Johnston, Obama’s director of communications. “She will spend her time focusing on where...

A 40-year-old man didn’t fare very well after a Kapowsin bartender refused to serve him more alcohol, according to Pierce County sheriff’s deputies. As the man walked out of the Kapowsin Tavern on Saturday, he pulled a gun and pointed it at the bartender, deputies said. A witness threw a pool ball, hitting the man in the back of the head, court documents state. Kevin J. Valentine now faces second-degree assault charges. Court documents gave this account: The bartender told deputies Valentine got upset after she refused to serve him more alcohol because he was already drunk. She said he...

On the same day that the anti-poverty group ACORN announced the launch of an "internal review" after four undercover videos exposed its workers offering advice on how to skirt federal laws, a fifth video surfaced that purports to show a worker offering to help bring underage girls into the U.S. for the purposes of prostitution. The latest video was filmed in San Diego by conservative activist James O'Keefe, 25, and partner Hannah Giles, 20, who posed as a pimp and prostitute as they did in their previous undercover stings. In the latest video, O'Keefe asked the man if Tijuana is...
