Kennedy likely would have faced campaign questions about fuel it received from Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez — a persistent U.S. critic. He also has settled into a comfortable lifestyle since leaving Congress in 1999, taking home a $545,000 salary as Citizens Energy’s president as of 2007.

On Aug. 13, ExxonMobil pleaded guilty in federal court to killing 85 birds that had come into contact with crude oil or other pollutants in uncovered tanks or waste-water facilities on its properties. The birds were protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, which dates back to 1918. The company agreed to pay $600,000 in fines and fees. ExxonMobil is hardly alone in running afoul of this law. Over the past two decades, federal officials have brought hundreds of similar cases against energy companies. In July, for example, the Oregon-based electric utility PacifiCorp paid $1.4 million in fines and restitution...

Here is video of Glenn Beck this morning on Fox & Friends saying he is going to continue exposing the radical in President Obama's Administration. He will begin talking about someone else later today on his show that he described as a "mindboggling" radical. Beck made the point that radicals like Van Jones reveal how radical President Obama and his policies are. Glenn Beck also reacted to the resignation of Van Jones, which Beck had a great deal to do with as he led the way all last week, and before, on exposing Jones and his radical views. . ....

Bill Sammon just gave a lengthy report on Fox regarding ObamaCare. According to Fox, Pelosi and Reid are meeting this AM at the White House to iron-out details of Obama's address to Congress tomorrow night. Pelosi says she has the votes if the bill includes the public option. Reid says he does not unless the bill excludes the public option -- unless he goes "nuclear" and passes it through the Senate with 50 votes plus Biden's to break the tie. Obama now said to be willing to be either for or against the "public option," whichever helps the bill pass....

Conservatives in the US are advocating a national truancy day next week because of President Barack Obama's plan to address the nation's students. The White House hopes next Tuesday's speech will be watched live by students and teachers across the nation but the President's critics say it is an attempt to indoctrinate rather than motivate the country's youth. The controversy highlights how much ground Mr Obama has lost in his first six months and how aggressive an opposition he is facing. Next week President Obama will visit a Washington area high school where he intends to deliver a 15 to...

Any time corporate executives and directors are heavily selling their company's stock there's reason for concern. And lately they've been doing just that. The last time insider selling was as high as it is now was in the period from late 2006 to late 2007. It was right after that insider-selling surge that the stock market began its long painful decline, says Charles Biderman, CEO of TrimTabs, an independent institutional research firm. Biderman believes that insider trades shoot higher when there's a disconnect between broad market opinions and what business executives feel in their gut. "When [insiders think] things are...

My Fellow Americans. Today you heard from our President, Barack Obama. Some of your parents voted for him, and most of the rest of the country voted for his opponent, John McCain. What you heard from President Obama today was a plea for you to pay attention in school and finish your education. What you did not hear from President Obama today was that your government, together with your school, has refused to provide you with the knowledge necessary for you to understand what has happened to this nation and its economy over the last 30 years. This is not...

The Senate must move legislation to raise the federal debt limit beyond $12.1 trillion by mid-October, a move viewed as necessary despite protests about the record levels of red ink. The move will highlight the nation’s record debt, which has been central to Republican attacks against Democratic congressional leaders and President Barack Obama. The year’s deficit is expected to hit a record $1.6 trillion. Democrats in control of Congress, including then-Sen. Obama (Ill.), blasted President George W. Bush for failing to contain spending when he oversaw increased deficits and raised the debt ceiling. “Washington is shifting the burden of bad...

A British playboy who held a fundraising event for Hillary Clinton is facing life imprisonment for the murder of a caretaker who stood in the way of a $3.2 million property deal. Christodoulides, 55, a shy loner known as Bambi, was hooded, tied to a chair, beaten and strangled. His body was wrapped in a sheet, covered with paint-stripper and hidden. The case against Papalexis was strengthened after a former...

Thanks everyone for turning out, even if only in spirit. Estimated attendance was 5700-6000, well above the 4000 of July 4th. We were greeted early Monday AM to flyers taped to every light pole around the green denouncing us as "Racists & Seditionists." Other than that, no problems at all from a handful of opposition protesters. Everyone appeared to have had a very good time.

Once upon a time, a fresh new politician, Barack Obama — black, young, eloquent, and hip — soared with rhetoric about hope and change. The people were mesmerized. What a contrast with the tongue-tied outgoing president, George W. Bush, and his unpopular wars in Iraq and Afghanistan! Presidential Candidate Obama sensed their ecstasy, and so he made two great promises: 1. Whatever Bush was, he would not be, and 2. despite the right-wing slander about his former intimacy with Bill Ayers, the Reverend Wright, Father Pfleger, Rashid Khalidi, and all his other old Chicago radical friends, Obama would be a...
