Hillary Klinton's hopes of becoming a U.S. Senator from New York sure will have her representing some pretty "familiar" women if she gets elected... One of these women already has spent a lot of time around Hillary's home - and was very chummy with at least one member of the Klinton family. MONICA. How will Senator Hillary react when sweet Monica writes her with her suggestions for education reform - remember, those same suggestions sweet Monica wrote Bill Klinton about? (Will her constituent address her as "Senator" or as "Booba?") From today's New York Post. ========================================================== MONICA Lewinsky has ...

HOUSTON (AP) — Immigration officials say they didn't know Rafael Resendez-Ramirez was wanted for questioning in three murders in Texas and one in Kentucky when they took him into custody early this month but then let him go. The Immigration and Naturalization Service arrested Resendez-Ramirez in the El Paso area during the week of June 1 for being in this country illegally and deported him to Mexico later that day, the FBI said. ``He was processed as one of the approximately 1.5 million illegal immigrants captured by the Border Patrol in the Southwest every year,'' INS spokesman Russ Bergeron ...

2 sue for return of property seized by Harmon RODNEY BOWERSARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE BENTON -- A former Saline County couple has filed a lawsuit in Saline County Chancery Court seeking the return of property seized by former Prosecuting Attorney Dan Harmon and later deeded to the county and leased to a church organization. Phillip DuVall and his ex-wife, Elizabeth Ann Manes, allege in their lawsuit against the 22nd Judicial District that the forfeiture "was a material deprivation of the plaintiffs' fundamental state and federal constitutional rights to property." They also allege that Harmon "employed coercion, duress and threats to personal ...

Clinton Gore Clinton/Gore are planning their swing through America to sell you on more health care control! ********************************************************* After a decade of ruthless managed care crank-downs that stripped doctors of their authority and prestige, no less a bastion of the health care establishment than the American Medical Association has decided to help physicians unionize. Paging Dr. Sam Gompers. There is reason for skepticism. The median physician income, $166,000 in 1997, is not exactly blue-collar. And although the AMA insists it is trying to protect the integrity of the doctor-patient relationship and assure quality of care, there's little doubt that ...

PRISTINA, Yugoslavia -- NATO and Russian troops prepared Saturday for the first arrival of flights at the Pristina airport since peacekeepers began deploying in Kosovo two weeks ago. NATO forces, meanwhile, struggled to cope with persistent unrest. A top ethnic Albanian rebel leader intervened at the last minute early Saturday to defuse one potentially violent confrontation in a sharply divided mining town. Two planes were expected at about 1:30 p.m. (7:30 a.m. EDT) at Slatina Airport just outside Pristina: a Russian transport carrying an advance team of paratroopers and technicians, and a NATO plane with air traffic control equipment. Russia's ...

The local liberal rag...I mean paper (The News & Observer, a McClatchey paper)...actually has a "Faith" section on Fridays. Good for them on that one. Found this little item yesterday; thought y'all might want to weigh in. "TELL US WHAT YOU THINK" "One Nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all..." In the Pledge of Allegiance, the words "under God" were added in the 1950's. There has been a movement in recent years to eliminate the words. No more "One Nation Under God," say critics of the addition. What do you think? Are we a nation "under God" and ...

KLA LEADERS KILLED RIVALS WITHIN OWN RANKS Senior commanders of the Kosovo Liberation Army carried out assassinations, arrests and purges within their ranks to stop potential rivals, the NEW YORK TIMES is reporting in Friday runs. "The campaign, in which as many as half a dozen top rebel commanders were shot dead, was directed by Hashim Thaci and two of his lieutenants, Azem Syla and Xhavit Haliti," the paper's Chris Hedges alleges, quoting Serb sources. Thaci strongly denies that he had been responsible for any killings. While none of the KLA officials interviewed by the TIMES actually saw Thaci or ...

KOSOVO LIBERATION ARMY officials yesterday blamed the continuing violence in the province on "extremists" and thieves masquerading as KLA members. In the Italian sector, an Italian soldier was reported killed as ethnic Albanians burned and looted Serb properties. Hundreds of terrified Serb civilians fled under Nato escort across the mountains to Montenegro. Italian peacekeepers reported that about 20 Serb houses were on fire in the city of Pec. Ethnic Albanians were seen driving away from the houses in cars ...

Excerpt from this week's "The Insider" in Arkansas Times: Everyone had the news when Paula Jones' husband, Stephen, sued her for divorce in California June 8. Funny thing. She sued him for divorce first, citing general indignities, in Lonoke County, May 19. A closed hearing had been scheduled in her divorce suit June 7, but it apparently wasn't held. Paula Jones' lawyer had been unable to properly serve the suit on her husband, who lives in a gated Long Beach development. Lonoke Chancellor Phillip T. Whiteaker also had told the parties he couldn't hold a hearing until the Joneses file ...

The Federal Aviation Administration Wednesday warned that an order slowing traffic at O'Hare International and Midway Airports could lead to serious disruptions in air travel as the agency addresses problems with two radar systems that forced flight cancellations and may have contributed to a near-collision between two planes. The mandatory air-traffic slowdown--which during the next three weeks will limit the number of planes arriving and departing from the Chicago region in peak morning and early evening periods--could have a major impact on airline schedules across the nation, particularly during poor weather, the FAA and airlines acknowledged. Travelers at both Midway ...

It was leadership here at home that gave us strong American influence abroad, and the collapse of imperial Communism. Great nations have responsibilities to lead, and we should always be cautious of those who would lower our profile, because they might just wind up lowering our flag.--RNC Annual Gala, Feb. 3, 1994This fellow they've nominated claims he's the new Thomas Jefferson. Well let me tell you something; I knew Thomas Jefferson. He was a friend of mine and Governor...You're no Thomas Jefferson!--Republican National Convention, 1992Welfare's purpose should be to eliminate, as far as possible, the need for its own existence.--Los ...

The Department of Energy's former security director told a House panel yesterday that his superiors forced him out of his job two months ago in retaliation for his repeated warnings that security was failing at the nation's nuclear weapons laboratories. Edward J. McCallum, a retired Army lieutenant colonel who headed DOE's Office of Safeguards and Security, said the department has a "long history of suppression and reprisal" against employees who disclose security breaches. The House Committee on Government Reform invited testimony from McCallum and three other "whistleblowers" at the departments of Energy and Defense who said their careers suffered ...

KOSOVO: 'PEACE WILL NOT BE ANY EASIER THAN WAR' This survey is based on 61 reports from 32 countries, June 19-24. Analysts focused on a number of germane issues and events, including President Clinton and Secretary Albright's recent visits to the region, the "complexities" of the peace process, the fate of Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic, and the broader implications of NATO's intervention in Kosovo for European security, as well as Western relations with Russia and China. In general, ...

China has overturned a landmark court ruling in Hong Kong over immigration from the mainland - in a decision that could have repercussions for the independence of the territory. In January the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal ruled that any mainland Chinese with at least one Hong Kong parent had the right to live in the former UK colony. But the standing committee of China's National People's Congress decided on Saturday that the court was wrong not to consult the mainland legislature when making the decision. This unprecedented "reinterpretation" of the territory's Basic Law means Beijing will now ...
