FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) -- Marcy Palmer paces in the shade of a post oak tree. Two dozen people listen as she teaches the tenets of an ancient religion: ``We believe in the divinity of all things.'' ``We believe that we are all of one life force.'' ``We believe that we are one with nature.'' ``Know thyself.'' Scenes like this have rankled one congressman and triggered a debate about religious freedom within the military. That's because Ms. Palmer is a witch, the high priestess of a group that practices Wicca at Fort Hood with the knowledge and approval of the ...

Washington -- One of the great and anti-democratic goals of American Liberalism is to make public matters so complicated that the public despairs and transfers the matter at hand over to the liberal bureaucrats. Another of the great and anti-democratic goals of American Liberalism is to stand on both sides of every issue. Again confusing the public is the Liberals' desired end, all the better to control the public. On the matter of improved education, the Clintonian Liberal stands four square for educational standards. Yet now when it comes to the standards maintained by SAT college-entrance examinations, the Liberals ...

There has been a lot of chat on the radio about the constitutionality of the new 10 Commandments Law which passed Congress today. Something Limbaugh said sparked an idea. Since the 10 Commandments are really great rules to live by (considering the author, what did you expect), yet the anti-religious crowd want to ban them altogether. Herewith I submit a rewording of the 10 Commandments I believe the ACLU would have a difficult time arguing against. To wit: The Original (and best version): 1. You shall have no other gods besides me. 2. You shall not worship any idols. 3. ...

SUMMIT NOTEBOOK: Rolling Stones, rolling in, as G-8 meets COLOGNE, Germany (AP) - If the Summit of Eight can't generate enough excitement in this city, a small collection of rock legends certainly can. And U2 frontman Bono planned to wrap a human chain around downtown Cologne. Bono was to arrive Saturday in hopes of delivering a petition to G-8 leaders urging debt forgiveness for poor countries. PALO ALTO, California--In an industry where doubling and tripling stock prices are as common as sudden, often irrational reversals of fortune, Internet watchers are not surprised by much anymore. But some of the most jaded among them are perplexed by the upcoming public offering of Salon.com. Salon, the San Francisco-based online magazine that has no profits and only a trickle of revenues, has been criticized for its shaky financial model as much as it has been praised for the thoughtful commentary it prints. Not only did Salon bring in a mere $3 million in revenue last year, but almost ...

Graduation speech censored Nicholas Lassonde's commencement speech has been cut short by school officials, who say he can't urge his fellow students to follow God. When the A-plus student gets up on the podium for Amador Valley High's graduation today he will give only half of his planned speech. After the first four paragraphs, he'll stop and announce that the rest has been censored. The censorship is especially dismaying, he said, because he planned the speech as tribute to his grandfather, who died Sunday. suppressed speech in full at -- http://www.deadmoose.com/speech

House Loosens Gun Curbs ABCNEWS.com W A S H I N G T O N, June 18 — With a very narrow vote after midnight, the House moved early Friday morning to lighten restrictions on sales at gun shows, handing a victory to gun rights advocates and successful lobbying by the National Rifle Association. But the fate of the overall House gun bill was highly uncertain, lawmakers said. A final vote on the bill was slated for later today. Some deeply pro-gun conservatives, mostly Republicans from western or southern states, don’t want any new gun control laws, while most ...
