U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer has expressed a willingness to ban protesters from burning the Koran as the modern day equivalent of shouting fire in a crowded theater.
The Supreme Court has ruled burning the American flag in protest is protected speech under the First Amendment of the Constitution.
Breyer spoke to George Stephanopoulos on ABC's Good Morning America today:
But Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer told me on "GMA" that he's not prepared to conclude that -- in the internet age -- the First Amendment condones Koran burning.
“Holmes said it doesn’t mean you can shout 'fire' in a crowded theater,” Breyer told me. “Well, what is it? Why? Because people will be trampled to death. And what is the crowded theater today? What is the being trampled to death?”
Breyer is promoting his new book, Making Our Democracy Work.
Breyer was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1994 by President Bill Clinton.
I’ve got an idea. If Muslims react violently, send in the troops or the cops. Arrest them, or shoot them if necessary, just as one would do, not Christians, real Christians don’t riot or murder, but Westerners.
Try them, punish them with the appropriate penalty. Repeat as often as necessary.

seeing as islam is not a religion but more of a political ideology then why is it being hidden by the 1sr amendment anyway.

I would love to ask “Justice” Breyer what is next to be banned.....a ban on drawing mohammed? How about short skirts because that offends muslims?

IMO, this is foolish enough to warrant stripping him of his SCOTUS status......if he clearly is not ready to uphold the Constitution, he is not fit for the job.

He’s open to burning the US Flag; he’s open to burning up your property deed and handing it over to the government; and apparently he’s open to burning the US Constitution; but a ban on burning the koran seems reasonable to him.

I'm sure you were referring to the burning of the Quran, not the Holy Bible, with regards to Breyer's equating that with yelling fire in a crowded theater.
