Kiev can 'end suffering' by agreeing to our terms - Peskov

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov argued on Thursday that Russia's latest attacks against Ukraine's power grid weren't aimed at the civilian population, urging Kiev to "end the suffering" of its people by accepting Moscow's terms to end the war. Russia's requests for ending the attacks include Ukraine proclaiming political and military neutrality, recognizing Crimea as Russian territory and granting independence to Donetsk and Lugansk.

Despite millions of Ukrainians currently without power across the country, Peskov told reporters that Russia's military pays "special attention to avoid striking social targets... As for targets that are directly or indirectly related to military potential, they are accordingly subject to strikes," he concluded.

It was over 6 months ago, the Ukrainian military was decimated. The mop up operation continues against NATO mercenaries

Check it yourself.

“NASA has a very easy to use website where anyone can go and look at the nighttime light situation in Ukraine. Very easy to check if I and others are lying about the grid in Ukraine.”

Putin has forgotten or is ignoring the lessons of WW2 in Europe, namely that bombardment of civilians only hardens opposition.

It’s like China asking the U.S. to surrender Washington State and California and Oregon and Alaska and Hawaii, after starting a war.

With Biden as president, China would win an American surrender immediately.

Anyhow, China has 2 years before their window for taking Taiwan closes. Biden won’t act.

From your Homepage; I'm mellowing out in my old age, which is nice. One of the keys to my mellowing out is having developed a very strong definition of what is and isn't my business, putting a lot of stuff in the "not my business" category

This war isn't America's business.

Ahh yes the true run of the troll, run to the person’s about page.

Ukraine isn’t Russia’s business. They were fine, they were not a threat, but Putin’s ego wouldn’t allow it. Russia started the war. And we signed a treaty that said we’d come in against somebody starting a war there.

Russia leaves, war is over. Just that simple.

Russia has created a strong Ukrainian identity and many are more than willing to fight to their death to drive Russia out of their country. Russia is almost completely unprepared for winter on the front lines, limited shelter, almost no winter gear, limited to poor supply lines and zero troop moral. Russia will impress many more unwilling men, throw them forward and watch them die, it is only a matter of time before the slaves revolt. When that happens Putin will have to choose between supporting the Wagner Group who’s blood thirsty leader Yevgeny Viktorovich Prigozhin has his sights firmly set becoming the next “Czar” or standing with his own military. Their will be a Russian civil war... it’s coming!

Just nuke Moscow! That’ll show ‘em! Eh?

And who is the bully? Who has pushed from ‘regime change’ in Russia, for a long time?

Ah, but nuke ‘em, that’ll make you happy!

They could have saved 100s of thousands of lives abiding by Minsk 2.

Reading through this thread it's like reading a bunch of people from alternate dimensions. Case in point: Minsk required the withdrawal of all heavy weapons and armor from the "borders". Russia refused to do so on the grounds that they claimed they weren't part of Minsk, and then demanded that Ukraine withdraw all its weapons even while it packed Donestk and Luhansk with something like 30,000 soldiers coming and going, plus heavy armor and advanced artillery, all documented and photographed by the OSCE.

IOW, Russians negotiate like Palestinians: the other side must disarm while they continue a military buildup, and if the other side refuses to disarm, then it's their fault for "violating the agreement."

Then we have Putinists on this website come on and repeat, without having any clue what they're talking about, that "Ukraine violated Minsk 2!!"

Re: Right Sektor that supposedly rules the government per your other posts: Zero members in the Ukrainian parliament. 10,000 estimated members nationwide. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_Sector#Election_results

“Russians should just accommodate themselves to the fact that they are going to need to send their young men to die in Ukraine for the next decade or so to satisfy Putin’s ego.”

By taking out the power grid, he doesn’t have to send anyone, just more missiles. More than 10 million Ukrainians are without power after another wave of Russian strikes on critical infrastructure, as concerns over Ukraine’s power supply grew as winter began to set in across the country. Current temp in the Ukraine at the warmest is less than 40 degrees with lows under freezing and rain/snow in the near future. I am shocked he didn’t use this tact before since this little engagement has been going on for eight years. Putin doesn’t want to destroy things, he wants to take them over. What he destroys makes the country less worth having. Used to be called cutting off your nose despite your face.

Like I said, it is surprising he didn’t do this years ago. Would have saved a lot of money and people.

Some folks who apparently have never done serious negotiations in their own lives think that "meeting in the middle" is a fair settlement. But that rewards the side that makes the most unreasonable demands, because then they walk away with half of something they never deserved in the first place.

First, even if Russia succeeded in complete blackouts, this wouldn't win the war. To do so requires Ukrainians to surrender--these people did not surrender even when their military collapsed in 2014 and regular farmers, doctors, and college professors had to pickup arms and fight in the blood and the mud to keep Russia from taking the entirety of the Donbass.

Secondly, Russia has so far failed to succeed insomuch that Ukraine has been getting bombed like this for more than a month, possibly months, and the power just comes back on after 24-48 hours. Right now, the heat is already back on in Kyiv after yesterday's round of terror attacks from Moscow.

Terrorism only works if you are a slave by nature. While many Putinists are slaves by nature and even tell me that the USA should not have been involved in the Korean war, it is clear that the Ukrainians are not.
