This is false for the very obvious reason that NATO membership is impossible without the consent of France and Germany, who both opposed; and also because NATO membership is impossible while an active conflict was going on (Russia's first invasion in 2014).
There was no imminent threat of Ukraine joining NATO, despite the lie being repeated constantly by Russia and Putinists on this forum.
