We knew it. This IS the real deal Bill. Cripes, it's a miracle we survived him.

Remember when Rush Limbaugh had a TV show back in 1993-4-5? Well, he got some candid footage of Slick tearing some junior White House aide's butt off after a public appearance before a friendly crowd. Seems the Bent One's big entrance wasn't handled just right, and Clinton got steamed -- about the "appearances" and showbiz aspects of his endless photo-op.

Limbaugh was right to show that clip over and over. It was the essential Clinton shining through all the BS and two-bit theatrics.

My best guess is, Clinton knows he needs help in the legacy department, so that using his personal charm and sucking up to George and Barbara Bush is his way of reminding everyone "Hey, I'm a member of the ex-presidents' club, too!"

Social-climbing, but also politics. If Slick does photo-ops and charities with Bush 41, he insulates his "legacy" from anything that might come up during 43's term of office.

Test the thesis: If Hillary gets elected -- or any Democrat -- in 2008, look for Slick to stop schmoozing with 41 and avoid 43. Just something to watch for.

Actually, Clinton got less than 50% of the popular vote in each of 1992 and 1996.

1992:
Clinton 43%
Bush 37%
Perot 19%

1996:
Clinton 49%
Dole 41%
Perot 8%

Of course, it is the Electoral College vote that decides who becomes President, and Clinton won handily in both elections.
