Barnes & Noble Website Carries Altered Cover of Anti-Kerry Book
Human Events Online ^

Posted on 08/09/2004 1:45:22 PM PDT by freespirited

Will Kerry's supporters stop at nothing?

The cover of the new anti-Kerry book, Unfit for Command, set to hit shelves soon, has been given an alternative, pro-Kerry cover at the Barnes & Noble online store. The title of the book has been changed to Fit for Command, and the cover image has been changed from a close-up of a finger-pointing Kerry to a picture of Kerry in uniform with other Vietnam veterans. (The book currently sits at #7 on the Barnes & Noble Top 100 and at #2 on Amazon.)

The book, which challenges the "war hero" status of John Kerry's four months in Vietnam, was a part of a major firestorm last week as portions of the book were first revealed by The Drudge Report and a new anti-Kerry advertisement from the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth -- a "527" group of which the author of Unfit, John O'Neill, is a member -- was first reported by Human Events Online. Following the Human Events exclusive, a letter from DNC and Kerry lawyers to various TV stations attempting to intimidate them into blocking the ad from the airwaves was also exclusively revealed by Human Events Online.

Though no information on the source of the cover change has been found, the latest tactic from the pro-Kerry crowd -- whether from a computer hacker or an employee of Barnes & Noble -- can hardly be considered surprising.

I wouldn't be so sure. There's a big pattern at work there.

Aside from all the outrage...anyone remember what the federal sentencing guidelines are on hacking? It might be good for the guilty parties to know...

I heard Jerry Agar reading some of this book today; if the part he read is indicative of the rest of it, I now know why Kerry brought out the lawyers.

It's devastating.

The part Agar read was about the swift boat commanders' reunion in 2003; Kerry showed up with a camera crew, shoved aside some of the veterans so he could get to the dock to be photographed beside the boat; when asked, none of the swift boat veterans agreed to be photographed with him.

These were the men who served in his unit (is that the right word?).

And the thing that infuriated them most? After he got his film/photographs, he left. He did not stay for the memorial service for those who died.

Hugh Hewitt, author of "If It's Not Close, They Can't Cheat: Crushing the Democrats in Every Election and Why Your Life Depends On It", has had his website hacked today, as well... it's down:

I am stunned by what they have to do to keep this bum afloat.

Truer words were never spoken.

Barnes and Noble totally supports Hillary and Kerry.

That they would alter a cover is a no brainer.

I hope they can trace the hack back to the souce. Anyone want to place bets on who is responsible? MoveOn? DUmmies? The Kerry-Edwards campaign?
