Some lawyer must have just called B&N - the correct bookcover is on the site you posted.

Far be it, that the truth would carry these people anywhere.

I hope the lines are smoking at Barnes & Noble.

Funny not. . .at all.

How about Purple Heart Truth? May it be loud and clear; and in spite of a Media reducing itself to the Lenin model of educating the public.

"Well, I'm glad you did, Billie, because I do a LOT of business at Amazon, and I don't think they want to lose it."

Maybe everyone who places orders at Amazon or B&N online; should go and order about ten books - or more. . .and then cancel the order in protest for what they have done.

I don't know; might be a good way to protest. (?)

Meant to add; not just those who 'normally' place orders; but rather anyone who can; place an order and then cancel; and let them know you are not happy with their misrepresenting an Author; and for their efforts to deceive the public.

Or just for 'being there and allowing it to happen; whatever; no excuses for B&N; Amazon; we know what they are doing or those people who take care of the websites.

Recieved this in reply to my complaint:

Dear XXXXXXX,

Thank you for writing with your concern regarding the erroneous book cover image for Unfit for Command.

The erroneous book image to which you refer was caused by a simple human error, not a computer error. As you may know, Barnes & Noble.com carries over one million book titles. We pride ourselves on the accuracy of our book database, striving to make a tremendous selection of merchandise available to our customers. On rare occasion, a mistake may be made by publishers, authors or reviewers. We make our best effort to correct errors on a timely basis.

Upon discovery of the problem with the title to which you refer, we took immediate steps to post the accurate book cover image. You may visit the corrected page at:

Please note that any orders for the above book "Unfit for Command" would have shipped correctly, had you placed an order.

This almost has to be an inside job. If the B+N site had this vulnerability, it would have been exploited many times over by now. The HTML is rendered by a web server. You would have to have access to the file system where this image is stored and replace it with the phoney.

Anyhting is possible. But, as with most crimes, look inside the family first, they alwasy have the best opportunity. I suspect someone will get the opportunity to update their resume' over this.

On a side note, the original cover photo is repulsive. He looks like he went to the funeral home for his makeup (which I am sure was the intended effect.)
