Barnes & Noble Website Carries Altered Cover of Anti-Kerry Book
Human Events Online ^

Posted on 08/09/2004 1:45:22 PM PDT by freespirited

Will Kerry's supporters stop at nothing?

The cover of the new anti-Kerry book, Unfit for Command, set to hit shelves soon, has been given an alternative, pro-Kerry cover at the Barnes & Noble online store. The title of the book has been changed to Fit for Command, and the cover image has been changed from a close-up of a finger-pointing Kerry to a picture of Kerry in uniform with other Vietnam veterans. (The book currently sits at #7 on the Barnes & Noble Top 100 and at #2 on Amazon.)

The book, which challenges the "war hero" status of John Kerry's four months in Vietnam, was a part of a major firestorm last week as portions of the book were first revealed by The Drudge Report and a new anti-Kerry advertisement from the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth -- a "527" group of which the author of Unfit, John O'Neill, is a member -- was first reported by Human Events Online. Following the Human Events exclusive, a letter from DNC and Kerry lawyers to various TV stations attempting to intimidate them into blocking the ad from the airwaves was also exclusively revealed by Human Events Online.

Though no information on the source of the cover change has been found, the latest tactic from the pro-Kerry crowd -- whether from a computer hacker or an employee of Barnes & Noble -- can hardly be considered surprising.

Just sent the following note to their customer support - the closest thing to customer feedback they had on their web site ...

The picture for the soon to be published book "Unfit for Command" is inappropriate. The picture in place has the title "Fit for Command" and displays a pro kerry picture. Either your system has been hacked or you have an employee that needs to be fired. Please don't accept the excuse "It was an honest mistake". That should insult your intelligence.

Schweet! Think of the poor dumb libbies who'll buy this thing expecting more fluff about Sir John of Gaunt.

Buy local, folks.

Pretty lazy hacker. He went through all the trouble of creating a new cover and hacking into B&N's system, but still left the "Swift Boat Veterans Speak out against John Kerry" blurb on the cover.

Strange story.

Apparently their web site was hacked by Kerry supporters.

The real headline on this story is:

***BREAKING***
Kerry Supporters Hack Barnes & Noble Website!

Now the 8 million $ question is a simple one. Why hasn't the left wing controlled Barnes and Noble removed the hacking?

Can Kerry and the Left really keep this up? I am stunned by what they have to do to keep this bum afloat.

That company has major profit problems. I guess they are a not for profit company. For years, for sport, ive walked in and asked where THE conservative NY times top 5 read was, only to hear everytime.."we only ordered 5 copies, they were supposed to be here, we sold out our order". Them BAMM! like a bad dream they design a Klinton "My story" shrine in each store. I shop Amazon. At least they ship to me with no lip, or smirk and log the sale.

All of B&N's images are hosted at akamai.net, here's the URL for the 9/11 Commission Report:

Yep, B&N's web site got hacked. I wonder if it was done by an undercover member of the VRWC in their employ. LOL!
