Barnes & Noble Website Carries Altered Cover of Anti-Kerry Book
Human Events Online ^

Will Kerry's supporters stop at nothing?
The cover of the new anti-Kerry book, Unfit for Command, set to hit shelves soon, has been given an alternative, pro-Kerry cover at the Barnes & Noble online store. The title of the book has been changed to Fit for Command, and the cover image has been changed from a close-up of a finger-pointing Kerry to a picture of Kerry in uniform with other Vietnam veterans. (The book currently sits at #7 on the Barnes & Noble Top 100 and at #2 on Amazon.)
The book, which challenges the "war hero" status of John Kerry's four months in Vietnam, was a part of a major firestorm last week as portions of the book were first revealed by The Drudge Report and a new anti-Kerry advertisement from the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth -- a "527" group of which the author of Unfit, John O'Neill, is a member -- was first reported by Human Events Online. Following the Human Events exclusive, a letter from DNC and Kerry lawyers to various TV stations attempting to intimidate them into blocking the ad from the airwaves was also exclusively revealed by Human Events Online.
Though no information on the source of the cover change has been found, the latest tactic from the pro-Kerry crowd -- whether from a computer hacker or an employee of Barnes & Noble -- can hardly be considered surprising.

As of 1640 CDT B&N has the cover graphic corrected, but the title link still reads Fit for Command.
You won't hear a peep about this on the mainstream media. The bias palpable and felonious.

That's what I do. I go into the store, and when I don't see a huge display of a certain conservative book, I make them go search for it (they had NO copies of Larry Elder's Showdown on display). Their mouths might be a little pursed when I'm checking out, but I am the one paying for it, so I gush that it was such a great book, I'm buying one for my sister/brother/mom/niece/etc. LOL, it's great fun!

Fit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out against John Kerry |
|
|
|
|
|
From the Publisher |
|
|
In 1971 John ONeillthe officer who took over John Kerrys Swift Boat in Vietnam returned home from Vietnam only to realize that the man he served with, John Kerry, had become a leader of the radical group, Vietnam Veterans Against the War and was slandering his fellow veterans as war criminals. ONeill debated John Kerry on the Dick Cavett show in 1971, successfully demolishing Kerrys accusations against his fellow troops in Vietnam. In his new book, Unfit for Command, ONeill and co-author Jerome Corsi bring together the voices of more than two hundred Navy veterans who served with Kerry, and who feel it their duty to tell why John Kerry is unworthy of the presidency.

I heard O'Reilly today talking about having Steve Gardner on tonight. It was very obvious O'Reilly already has his mind made up, and doesn't see any proof the Swiftboat Vets are right. He said, "All the proof is on Kerry's side."
O'Neal is going to be on Hannity tonight, and Nightline is going to have a special.

Too late - already sent the following to their customer support site.
I was going to order Unfit for Command by Vietnam Veterans, yet, I found that your online store decided to take literary license with the authors' publication and change the title to better suit your propaganda pursuits.
How would I ever know you had not changed parts of a book I purchased from Barnes & Noble?
Guess I will make a trip and see for myself whether a bookstore has "altered" a book before I purchase it.
What utter despicable propaganda by a bookstore. I will not be using your store in the future.

But title says FIT For Command!
To: jtminton
Speaking as an author, you bet it is. The title is always copyrighted (when possible), and most major pubiishers copyright the jacket design, too, esp. when they have a hot property on their hands.
This is also a criminal matter; B&N are willfully mislabeling a product, with intent to deceive, a crime in every jurisdiction with which I'm familiar. And, there are UCC violations here in addition.
Question: will anyone bother going after these jerks? No idea.

Dirty dogs, whoever did this. I called B&N just before it was changed. The woman had no idea what I was talking about.
I don't have time to read all these posts. Where's the best place to buy the book?
