Latest Kerry "Self-Proclaiming Hero" Problems! Swift Boat Rescue Story Springs Another Leak!
2 reporter friends in DC | MB26

Posted on 08/09/2004 9:12:32 AM PDT by MindBender26

Seems Kerry's "I'm a Swift Boat Hero" story has sprung another leak.

Kerry claimed a Bronze Star with "V" device for rescuing Jim Rassmann, an Army SF 0-2 after a mine exploded under a boat, knocking Rassman into the water.

That Kerry pulled Rassman out of the water is not contested, but the Bronze Star is now being questioned.

According to tro friends at network, not just Rassman but a total of 4 men went into the water that day. Kerry saved Rassman, another boat saved another soldier and a third boat pulled two people to safety!

The problem is, for the other boat skippers, it was all in a day's work. No medals were asked for, recomended or awarded.

Kerry pulls one in four out of the water and gets the Bronze Star!

What does not compute here????

Media types are at DOD Awards Branch, trying to get the documents on this.

Semper Gumby!

And note: in a Fox interview (Hannity and Colmes) Rassmann told Susan Estrich that he was a Republican but turned Democrat in January 2004.

This seems to be a continuing theme in the Kerry-media script: cover up the real leanings of individuals coming out against Bush by labeling them with a Republican label they don't deserve.

They implied that Richard Clarke was a republican when he came out against Bush - but Clarke wasn't- he was on Kerry's team and was working with another antibush, Kerry staffer named Beers, ex intel guy. They they implied ambassador to Gabon Joe Wilson was a republican appointee of Bush sr., when he and his 3rd wife Valerie Plame had a record of financially supporting Democrats, and when wilson was a Kerry advisor. They implied Admiral William Crowe was a republican - he's involved with an antiBush group of diplomats and other officials and he's been a Clinton suckarse for years. He's one of the folks who benefits from the anthrax scare since he's involved with the company that sells the vaccine. They implied Greg Thielman was a conservative, among others. and don't forget the typical liberal seminar caller. They always begin their spiel with "I'm a republican, but..." or "I voted for Bush, but..." or its equivalent.

They really think that is a persuasive argument. Oh well, when it's all they've got we shouldn't be shocked if they run it into the ground.

There is plenty of legitimate stuff to rip Kerry on. PostTraumatic Stress is not one of them.

Not something to rip him personally about. But do you really want someone who wakes up screaming in the night, on a regular basis, to have his finger on the nuclear trigger?

He is in need of prayers.

That and therapy and to NOT hold a public office, especially the Presidency.

That's what he needs. You can pray for him as I choose not to. I don't believe anything about him and find this to be unproven as well.

Why would any sane person think that a twenty-something USN Ltjg. would have gained, in four short months driving a Swift boat, the kind of insight and maturity that would qualify him for President some 35 years later?

Maybe if he had stuck it out for his full year in 'Nam, spent at least 20 honorable years as a Naval Officer and retired, THEN been elected to the Senate and (even) DONE SOMETHING THRE!, an "I fought in Vietnam" scenario would play out favorably.

Instead, this despicable, disrespectful, dishonest, disgraceful, disgusting, dishonorable and thoroughly pitiful excuse for a "man," has the gall to think he can be President of the United States based entirely on his own projections of his (manifestly not!) "heroic" actions in Vietnam 35 years ago!

That miserable sonofabitch was not qualified then, and is not qualified now to pour pi$$ of of a Navy Chief's boondocker!

If enough people buy into his and the LIEberal's lies, however, we may have to endure four years (or until he gets impeached!) of a Presidency several orders of magnitude worse than Bill Clinton's first four years.

God help us if the Lying LIEberals prevail!

Teresa perfectly described Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - wakes up screaming - more than 30 years later

If I woke up next to Tereza I'd be screaming too...no amount of money is worth that to any man...well maybe to a girlie-man like Kerry...

If any members of the media had even bothered to fact check previous stories, they might have seen a pattern over the years, of constantly evolving stories about Kerry's time in Vietnam.
The same swift boat vets that Kerry trots out-have given different and conflicting versions of Kerry's activities, as has Kerry.
Timelines don't jibe, recollections don't jibe, geographical locations don't jibe and eyewitnesses don't jibe.

We may be partisan, but, we're not stupid.

For instance, in 1996, in a conference call to reporters- Kerry claimed that he never went behind the hooch and shot the kid-he did it in front of everyone.

Kerry in 1996- "I never went behind the hootch, and this is the first time in 30 years that anybody has suggested otherwise."

One of Kerry's Band of Brothers, Fred Short, however, told interviewer Michael Kranish-

" As Short recalled, the guerilla ran behind a hut."

Page 102--" The Complete Biography of John F Kerry, By The Boston Globe Reporters Who Know Him Best:-Michael Kranish"

Rassmann told Michael Kranish that he was
in the boat behind Kerry's and
was thrown overboard by " an explosion."
Page 106, ibid.

"Rassmann was eating a chocolate chip cookie in the pilot house when his craft was rocked by an explosion."

The cookie story seems irrefutable.

However,Rassmann told Michael Kranish in the book and that " he swam to Kerry's boat "
as it " was the closest "
-not that Kerry specifically came back for him.

Rassmann told Michael Kranish that ALL the swift boats were turning to help him-not just Kerry's.

Rassmann tried climbing up the netting on the bow of Kerry's boat, but, because of his recent weight loss-(50 Lbs)and fatigue from dodging either enemy fire
or Kerry's over reaction-he couldn't haul himself up into the boat.
Kerry bleeding from a wound the size of a grain of rice, showed incredible heroism,
beyond the call of duty-
by giving the 135 lb Rassmann a hand up, into the boat.
Kerry implies that none of the other swiftees would have done the same.

As an aside, I wonder which Swift Boat veterans-all of them-are the racists ?

In an interview with black journalists, April 7,2004, in his Washington headquarters, Kerry said this-

" The junior senator from Massachusetts spent much of the time detailing his plans ...., expressed his strong support for affirmative action,
and said he saw racism first hand during his time in Vietnam."

Richard Prince's Journal-isms, The Maynard Institute, April 07,2004.

What action did John Kerry, as an officer, take to address the incidents of racism he witnessed first hand ?

"And none of the swift boats were damaged."

I just recreated almost all the text from one of the combat action reports and posted it HERE

Among other things, it included a damage report for PCF 94. It also says that, while 4 men other than Kerry were given treatment at USCGC Spencer, 2 others were also listed as injured that day. Kerry's injuries were listed as minor and he was returned to duty... 4 were medevaced from USCGC Spencer to 'destination unknown'.

Here's the damage reported to PCF 94:

ALFA: 1. PCF-94 HULL REG NR 50NS6678 BATTLE DAMAGE
BRANO: 1. C-4
          2. PCF NOT CAPABLE OF EXECUTING MARKET TIME PATROL

VRC-46 RADIO AND ALL REMOTE UNITS PILOT HOUSE INOP.
AC WIRING SHORTED OUT. ONAN GENERATOR INOP. STEERAGE
CONTROL AFTER HELM INOP. STBD BILGE PUMP BROKEN.

"I didn't really want to get involved in the war," Kerry said in a little-noticed contribution to a book of Vietnam reminiscences published in 1986. "When I signed up for the swift boats, they had very little to do with the war. They were engaged in coastal patrolling and that's what I thought I was going to be doing."

But two weeks after he arrived in Vietnam, the swift boat mission changed -- and Kerry went from having one of the safest assignments in the escalating conflict to one of the most dangerous. Under the newly launched Operation SEALORD, swift boats were charged with patrolling the narrow waterways of the Mekong Delta to draw fire and smoke out the enemy. Cruising inlets and coves and canals, swift boats were especially vulnerable targets.

Who was it this weekend that defended Kerry with "KERRY VOLUNTEERED FOR COMBAT!!" Was it that liberal weasel, Juan on FNS?

He did nothing of the sort by his own admission. He outhunk himself, and ended up in combat.

What I can't see is why Kerry doesn't attack the President on his not volunteering for Nam. W could have gone active duty and been in Nam. If I were Kerry I would be raising holy hell if someone was attacking my tour of duty.

So why doesn't Kerry defend himself, aside from using lawyers to shutdown the vet's ad. Why?

Nothing to defend?
Does not want to sound warlike to the lefty/commie/tofu/pencil necked crowd that comprises such a large part of the ass party?
why?

I looked this guy up in the "who gave money" Web sites. He's nowhere to be found.

I think what Rassmann actually said on the Hannity and Colmes show was that he had voted both Republican and Democrat before. So, the Dems lied again, claiming he was a Republican when in fact he was probably "independent."
