Latest Kerry "Self-Proclaiming Hero" Problems! Swift Boat Rescue Story Springs Another Leak!
2 reporter friends in DC | MB26

Posted on 08/09/2004 9:12:32 AM PDT by MindBender26

Seems Kerry's "I'm a Swift Boat Hero" story has sprung another leak.

Kerry claimed a Bronze Star with "V" device for rescuing Jim Rassmann, an Army SF 0-2 after a mine exploded under a boat, knocking Rassman into the water.

That Kerry pulled Rassman out of the water is not contested, but the Bronze Star is now being questioned.

According to tro friends at network, not just Rassman but a total of 4 men went into the water that day. Kerry saved Rassman, another boat saved another soldier and a third boat pulled two people to safety!

The problem is, for the other boat skippers, it was all in a day's work. No medals were asked for, recomended or awarded.

Kerry pulls one in four out of the water and gets the Bronze Star!

What does not compute here????

Media types are at DOD Awards Branch, trying to get the documents on this.

Semper Gumby!

Point taken. I think that people are too preoccupied with the Nixon reference because it is so easy to refute. More importantly, Kerry was never in Cambodia. He made up the story out of whole cloth. Even some of his Band of Brothers won't support him on that point.

wakes up screaming - more than 30 years later

This is not a reason to denigrate him. He is in need of prayers. The vast majority of us have no idea of what a man or woman goes through in a war. Whatever he did, or didn't do, - honorably, or not so honorably, he was there.

There is plenty of legitimate stuff to rip Kerry on. PostTraumatic Stress is not one of them.

"I keep getting this funny gut feeling that Teresa Heinz is doped up."

I was speculating early last month that she might have a pill problem. Then I saw her at the DNC acting a TAD overmedicated. THEN I discovered she was proscribed Prozac to treat depression after Heinz' death....not surprising, but if you put all the pieces together, it's looking like she's been pill dependent for years. Oh, and Teresa describes herself as "needy." All the ingredients of an addictive personality are there, including her and John's weird, co-dependant relationship.

Nightline is going to air a report on the Swift Vets tonight.

Make sure they know several things.....

1) one of the members of Swift Vets was on Kerry's boat, unlike the claims of the Kerry campaign that nobody was
2) the boats were close together and went on missions together; it wasn't like Kerry was just with his crewmates; others saw him and so did other commanding officers
3) numerous affidavits came with the ads
4) in the new book, even some Kerry supporters who were on his boat (2 of them), say they never went to Cambodia.
5) Only one of the commanding officers support him

It sounds like a man on Kerry’s boat was relaxing eating a cookie. When another boat hit a mine and sunk. Kerry hit the gas to get out of the area, and his cookie eat partner fell off the back. Kerry turn around picked up his clumsily cookie eating crewmate, while the other boats rescued the survivors from the sinking boat. And Kerry received a medal for his heroics that day. Is this the story?

The Swift Boat book has disappeared from the Regnery Publishing website. No mention at all that I can find... anyone know what's going on?

I'd love to see Kerry explain why he's been criticizing Nixon all those years WHILE explaining why he lied about being in Cambodia at all.

I would like to know a lot more about his waking up screaming. I read one article (but lost the source) about someone who stayed overnight with the Kerrys some years ago and was awakened during the night by shreiks from Kerry's room. In the morning he asked Kerry's daughters what was going on and one of them said something like, "Oh, that's just Daddy. He does that all the time."

I have no doubt that he experienced things in his military duty that would be terrifying to the normal person. That would explain the nightmares well after returning home.

My father experienced these same kinds of nightmares for more than 30 years after WW2. Being strafed and bombed on your airfields for a couple of years would likely do that to anyone.

I won't be too concerned with nightmares in the still of the night after military service. Those are pretty common. I will be concerned with fabricated and embellished stories of a person's service. That is a symptom of an empty person trying to fill a void within themselves. Staking a country's leadership on an empty house of cards is never wise.

Interesting. TODAY a reporter I've been in contact with suddenly got VERY INTERSTED in the info I'd sent him on John Lehman signing Kerry's Silver/Bronze citations. Something seems to be clicking.
