Seems Kerry's "I'm a Swift Boat Hero" story has sprung another leak.
Kerry claimed a Bronze Star with "V" device for rescuing Jim Rassmann, an Army SF 0-2 after a mine exploded under a boat, knocking Rassman into the water.
That Kerry pulled Rassman out of the water is not contested, but the Bronze Star is now being questioned.
According to tro friends at network, not just Rassman but a total of 4 men went into the water that day. Kerry saved Rassman, another boat saved another soldier and a third boat pulled two people to safety!
The problem is, for the other boat skippers, it was all in a day's work. No medals were asked for, recomended or awarded.
Kerry pulls one in four out of the water and gets the Bronze Star!
What does not compute here????
Media types are at DOD Awards Branch, trying to get the documents on this.
Semper Gumby!
Looks like a doofus.
I thought you had to actually be injured to get a Purple Heart?
Go to the thread "Christmas in Cambodia" for lots of information on the subject:

Audie Murphy.
Maybe Rassman had a hamster in his pocket and the other three did not. Makes all the difference in the world.
Steve Gardner or Clover, SC, was Kerry's gunnersmate. He is one of the vets against Kerry's claims of extraordinary heroism under fire. Contrary to Kerry's advocates' claim, Gardner WAS ON Kerry's boat.
Ah, you and I both know, but what about The Sheep?
bump
And note: in a Fox interview (Hannity and Colmes) Rassmann told Susan Estrich that he was a Republican but turned Democrat in January 2004.
Amazingly, he repeated the Cambodia claim in a 1992 interview with the AP.
He dropped the Nixon reference though.
There are two sets of references to Nixon:
The first is explicit and is in the introductory clause preceeding those you've seen published:
"Finally, President Nixon, 1970, "in cooperation with the armed forces of South Vietnam, attacks are being launched this week to clear out the major enemy sanctuaries on the Cambodian-Vietnam border. Mr President, I remember Christmas of 1968 and I remember ..."
Look at the hard copy provided by instapundit again & you can find a copy posted on the first page here. This speech was originally televised on C-SPAN at the time of the debate (1986)
The second sets of references are all implicit and essential to John Kerry's entire being. For years he has claimed that this experience was "seared into his soul" and that formed all of the fundamental building blocks underlying all of his positions and postures over the years since.
He was tipped off by the UN.
I think she hate John and the little people he is so intouch with. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-backroom/1163131/posts?page=11608#11608
Well, jslade, you and I remember Audie. The Sheep might guess Ben Afleck.;-)
I'd just love to see Kerry try to explain he really didn't mean to be criticizing Nixon all those years and it was really liberal hero LBJ he was mad at for lying about him after all ROFLMAO.
While the people who pick the nominees are part of the problem. The mainstream media is really to blame. They keep giving democrats free passes year after year. If they did their job the democrats wouldn't have sociopaths as nominees.
The Horror. The Horror.....
That memory apparently wasn't as "seared" into him as he says it was- else he would remember who was president at the time. Are we supposed to believe his memory of 911 is "seared" into him in a more permanent fashion?
note my post above - the Senate speech more than inferred Nixon because it was in his introductory clauses including quoting of Nixon that he made the remainder of his statement.
