Why is Earth pulsating every 26 seconds, and why cant scientists explain it after 60 years? This is an enigma wrapped in a periodically predictable mystery motion. It could be a harmonic phenomenon, a regular seismic chirp caused by the suns energy, or a beacon drawing scientists to its source to begin a treasure hunt.
➡ The world is weird. We'll show you how it works.
In the early 1960s, a geologist named Jack Oliver first documented the pulse, also known as a "microseism," according to Discover. Oliver, who worked at Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Geological Observatory at the time, heard the noise, but didn't have the advanced instruments seismologists have now at his disposal.
Since then, scientists have spent a lot of time listening to the pulse and even finding out where it comes from: a part of the Gulf of Guinea called the Bight of Bonny, Discover says.
I saw The Pulsating Zits on Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert on tee vee back in the day but they were a passing fad in adolescence.

What are you doing, Zardoz?
I'm setting up this gong to clang every 26 seconds. It'll drive 'em crazy up there!
Gas pains!
It’s the ptomaine burritos at all those Chipotle franchises causing it.

Those pulses were every 17 cycles, as in the 17th letter of the alphabet, ....
FYI, I worked at a plant manufacturing nails.
The thick, hardened wire came from the steel mill on a coil, similar to a spool of thread.
With heat and lube, the wire was straightened, head and point formed.
Heat and pressure will do amazing things!
I had a career in chip-making beginning in 1967. Some of my handiwork is on the Voyager Space Craft that has completely left our solar system.(And...will still be travelling long after I'm gone)

[snip] Oliver figured out that the pulse was coming from somewhere “in the southern or equatorial Atlantic Ocean” and that it was stronger in the Northern Hemisphere’s summer months (or, the Southern Hemisphere’s winter). [/snip]

Yeah, until that Klingon captain blasts it to smithereens!...................
