AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 1549) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
All of Us | April 18, 2005 | Various News Sources and FReepers

Posted on 04/17/2005 8:00:39 PM PDT by Molly Pitcher

A New Week....Well, almost....

Will the Wall Street jitters continue??

Will, FINALLY, steps be taken to end the judicial log jam in the Senate??

Will the Dems, under Dr. Dean, begin to control their wacko elements??

Just a few questions to ponder....

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!

The press is getting ridiculous with their coverage of the papal enclave. I just heard Cardinal Ratzinger called the "Hillary Clinton of the conclave" because he is the supposed frontrunner. Argh!

How could they, they should be flocking to your place to see what you need, things needed done, it is only the right thing to do. When a neighbor gets too busy to help a neighbor that person needs to sit back and look at themselves long and hard and think ahead, one day they will be in need as well. My problem is I am not to good with the old hands, I leave this heavy work to sil and I do the work.

death brings out the worst in people.

Well, that's certainly true in our family. These two women are DIL's, their husbands are like putty in their hands.

I was so proud of my husband for standing up to them yesterday. "They" had decided they didn't want our Priest to officiate at the funeral because he hadn't spent enough time with the family during the final hours.

I had heard them discussing it shortly after FIL passed when we were standing in the hall to give the boys and their mother some time alone, and told him about it when we got home from the Care Center after FIL's passing.

When the funeral director was walking us thru the list of decisions to be made yesterday, when the Presiding Official topic came up, Hubby spoke up before 'they' could get their licks in. From the tone of his voice, it was very clear that they were going to have a real fight on their hands if they suggested anything else. He made his forceful (to put it mildly) statement, his Mother nodded, and that was the end of it all. Both women had total looks of disgust on their faces.

If I hadn't overheard their earlier conversation and alerted him to their plans, heaven knows what would have happened.

I like the idea of bartering. For instance, one of my neighbors bush hogged a field for me, so I baked him a cherry cheese cake. Thus he just might be open to doing it again! (If he does, he's getting some home baked bread or another cheese cake, whichever he prefers.)

Good morning to you all, especially devolve who posted last night a link to family information. De, welcome to ATRW. We hope you drop in for some pleasant conversation. Can you dance?

Mozie, I hope your headache is better. Mine is definitely. Yesterday, I couldn't lift my head of the pillow without my eyeballs falling out. Today it appears to have finally left. It was only a five day headache this time.

Bevlar, my condolences in the loss of Rusty. I still mourn the loss of my Tippy. Hugs to you, sweet friend.

From what I gather of the 2...how could you tell? Do they have any other look? :-)

IG, you are right. Death brings out the worst in some people, but it also brings out the very best in others. You did right to alert your husband to the machinations of the harpies.

Do they have any other look?

Yes. Most generally, they have a SMUG look, because they are leading their husbands around like dogs on a leash. They believe they are in control of everything important.

These are the 2 who used to spend 3 or 4 hours sitting at a table bragging about their kids at family gatherings. Both relived their teen years thru their kids. It was truely a sad thing to observe.

I'm so glad your husband stood up to them. About time someone did.

Yup. I can relate. Smug and know it all. G's sil.

I'll never forget what she told me a few years ago.

My bil was having difficulty with the home that he was renting and there was a possibility that he was to be laid off from his job in NJ.

His wife told me that 'we haven't told mil yet, but we are going to come back to live with her...give her one room....and I'm going to start my daycare in the rest of the house.'

Right then and there I knew where she stood and believe me she WILL have NO say in my mil's business or G. will get an earful from me.

Services are at 10:30 on Wednesday.

Another BIL and I had requested 10:00 am Mass, because his family has a daughter & SIL who need to be in Chicago with a trade show booth set up by Wednesday night, ready to go on Thursday morning at 8:00 am. I am having serious business conflicts and needed to have as much flexible time as possible on Wednesday afternoon.

"They" decided it was inconvienent for their families to do it at 10:00 am and pushed for 11:00. MIL stepped in and split the difference at 10:30.

I am still really upset about all this bickering. It's not my style to fight with family, but occasionally it's important to stand up and be counted when the Railroad Crew steps in.

I've got to go get ready to hit the road. I'll check back in before I head out. I will try to check in from my remote location as time allows.

Thank you, dear friends, for letting me vent. I don't dare voice all of this to my hubby. He's carrying his own burden right now, and I don't want to unload on him.

Good morning! Should have posted a link to the new thread last night on yesterday's...oh well. Will try to remember tonite.

Thanks to those who've already provided links...

Jane, last night's Miss Marple Mystery was very enjoyable, but I was wrong about the actress: not Ann Massey, but another English actress who's pretty similar in appearance and age.

Any chance hubby can get his Mom to sign a new Power of Attorney? Perhaps she'd do it easily when she hears what the smug SILs have in mind for her.

When I go do something for a neighbor I also take them a big ole mess of collard greens.

I am off to get ready to take gd to school then I am going to start on my yard, cut it, move some limbs and dirt, a little of this, a little of that, you know how it is.
