‘Big Bang’ Star Mayim Bialik Reveals Nightmare Side Effects from Taking GLP-1 Weight Loss Drug
Breitbart ^ | June 09, 2026 | Warner Todd Huston

Mayim Bialik, star of The Big Bang Theory, has come forward to reveal the severe reaction she suffered for two scary weeks after taking one shot of the popular GLP-1 weight loss drug.

Bialik discussed her terrifying trauma in an article for The Free Press that she entitled, “My GLP-1 Nightmare.”

The 50-year-old actress told readers that she has struggled with her weight as an adult — especially as an actress in image-obsesses Hollywood. And at one point her doctor told her that GLP-1 “might help ease symptoms I’ve struggled with for basically my entire adult life.”

The one-time child star added that when she was 23, she was diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder Grave’s disease. Years later, she was also diagnosed with connective tissue disease, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), Sjögren’s syndrome and dysautonomia.

She went on to say that she decided to take GLP-1 because several doctors told her “the drugs have shown promise in reducing the systemic inflammation that drives autoimmune conditions.”

She added that she had tried several other therapies and drugs to ease her various conditions, but none had worked. So trying GLP-1 was just one more step in the search to ease her symptoms. But instead of a “magic cure,” her life was turned upside down after taking the first dose of GLP-1.

“I took one shot of the lowest dose of a synthetic GLP-1, and to say I had an adverse reaction would be somewhat of an understatement,” she wrote. “Explosive, uncontrollable diarrhea. Sulfur burps so violent they left me afraid to open my mouth in public. Sneezing attacks every time I tried to eat or drink—which apparently has a name, snatiation.”

Those sugarless gummies are sweetened with Xylitol. Xylitol has a laxative effect if you eat too much of it, as she learned.

My wife had a bad reaction when she moved to a higher dose of Mounjaro. She suffered nausea and vomiting for a week. For some people it takes longer to tolerate the drug. (titration) I have had zero side effects from the compound semi glutide I take at the highest dose.

Wife says, “We aren’t eating as much, but the boys are making up for it.” So, nothing I guess.

I have TWO friends taking this drug. One has lost over 100#. Every time I see her, I ask if she’s hoping for us to bury her in a SHOE BOX in the near future. She looks nothing like her old, happy, fat self. Nothing. She’s aged 20 years in the past few. Plus, I see her hand tremors that she tries to hide. Grrrr!

The other has lost maybe 15 pounds, but you’d never know it. Both are on dosages of 5 and 3...and they have to stay on it the rest of their lives if they want to maintain a weight loss.

I really fear for them both! When I think of which one of us 4 friends of 45+ years is going to go first, it’s no longer a speculation. Makes me so SAD that people care about weight loss to this extent! Our fourth group member is tall and thin and has always been and always will be. And she eats like a horse, LOL!

As a woman who had to ration every morsel of food that went into her mouth from the time she was 18 until her mid-30’s, (Army Fitness Standards USED to be VERY strict!) I am 100% over this.

The first and largest shedding of weight is elimination of water. Hence the diarrhea.

It would seem that the actual problem is that she was 40 or older and is unable to control the natural growth transformation that includes weight gain.

*** She looks nothing like her old, happy, fat self.***

Oh, I forgot to mention how my friend doesn’t seem happy like she used to be. That medication changed her demeanor. She’s not a mean person, but she doesn’t smile like she used to.

I learned about these reviews years ago. Like many of you, I laughed like maybe I’d laughed 5x in my life. Unbelievable creativity and - having had a LITTLE bit of xylitol in my life - very accurate. Well, maybe over the top but in a good way. And the fact that these are PG-13 reviews make them all the better.

Amazon purged itself of these reviews. Thankfully, on the web nothing is forever. Enjoy if you like this kind of entertainment (the airplane one at 30,000 feet review is one my other favs).

I had an experience with stevia leaf extract that was much like that gummy bear review. I was incapacitated for most of the day after having it in something. I have resorted to only using real sugar in things, and sparingly if I can help it. It made me become a label reader.

I also use wegovy now as it is getting more and more difficult to find other GLP1 medication due to dietary use of people. (I’m diebetic since 1986) You mentioned a couple of things that can go wrong with the drug, here might be some more you might consider.

Wegovy may cause serious side effects, including:

Inflammation of your pancreas (pancreatitis)

Gallbladder problems

Hypoglycemia

Dehydration leading to kidney problems

Severe stomach problems

Increased heart rate

But the most common side effects of Wegovy® may include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach (abdomen) pain, changes in skin sensations, headache, tiredness (fatigue), upset stomach, dizziness, feeling bloated, belching, gas, stomach flu, heartburn, and hair loss.

I take it because I have to take a GLP1 for my illness along with ejecting insilin (Two types). It’s the lessening of evils as the combination has kept me alive a lot longer and still with all my body parts than many with the same maladies.
