Guess who's hosting this edition of the singles thread!?! Scary, ain't it folks.
Anyhow, in the process of cleaning out boxes, it came to me....the questions that we all ask ourselves as we uncover chunks of our long lost past.....
What WAS I thinking!?!
So, my questions to all of you are:
What hobby or interest did you have when you were younger that you still have a passion for?
Ok, now....is there something you used to do that you now think "I can't believe I used to like that!"
Same with music---
What was your favorite band/song in highschool, then early adulthood compared to now? (Those still in early adulthood have only 2 questions to answer. Or maybe just one ;))
Is there anything in your interests, hobbies or life that would surprise people who know you? (Nothing weird, just.....) And if it invovles being on wanted posters, you can skip the question :)

To your "room?" I am not doing my job as chaperone very well, then. KNOCK, KNOCK! LOL!! You've got to keep your eye on those two every minute!

I haven't really followed any music for a long time. I have a few CDs that I play in the car. Most of them are country. There are a few rock CDs that I have mostly because they keep me awake and alert when I'm driving at night. I might have heard the name MercyMe long ago, but I can't remember any of their music. What is it about that song that you think is significant? I'm not in Iraq, and I hope I didn't leave that impression.

I share your philosophy. And I too may be single for the rest of this life, but I can hope. I don't want to relocate either, not too far anyway. I like where I live, its just right, except for this rain we have had for a whole week. I also enjoyed this thread and its good to know others have same issues.
Us girls will just have to hang in there and maintain our standards. Good luck to all
To: RockinRight
you are so sweet! thanks for your support. I'm hanging, believe me.
To: Goodgirlinred
Good for you, and your dog! I have always liked animals better than most people. I am waiting for spring so that I can get outdoors and go. I feel a road trip coming on. Here comes the sun (and springtime). Thats my favorite time of year. I'm just hibernating right now.
What kind of dog is Harm? small, large, full-blooded or Heinz 57? I love em all

Question is, where do you find this man with similar interest? I want a helpmate, a soulmate, a kindred soul, but where is he? Where do you find that special one in this life? That's a very good question
It seems that our modern culture has not brought people together but has alienated many.
Its very difficult today as years of radical feminism has created deep wounds and mistrust between the sexes.
You can "see" it here on FR with the "woman bashing" threads and the woman who wont trust a man again.
Many have just given up entirely on dating or finding someone
In short we are working in a different climate than say 20 years ago and we have to work within that climate
Where to find someone?
Just be you and get out of the house!
Church is a good place, pursuit your interests, hobbies, get politically active, try some of the Internet dating sites but KNOW what you NEED (as opposed to everything you want, there are no perfect men or woman!) and what you won't accept
You have to use your HEAD as well as your HEART
The main thing is DON'T GIVE UP,HANG IN THERE, BECOME THE PERSON YOU WOULD WANT TO BE WITH

Sorry I am late to the party as Ive been dealing with a MONSTER barometric induced sinus headache. Pretty much has laid me low. Missed the Josh Turner concert and my horseback riding lesson but I seem to be on the mend now, thank goodness
Great job with the thread najida!
What hobby or interest did you have when you were younger that you still have a passion for?
Pretty much have the same passions that I had as a kid with the exception of my love/hate relationship with politics! LOL
Still adore animals and will always have a dog, in addition always wanted to learn to horseback ride and I am now taking lessons, Western & English and have found out I am a natural horse woman! Jumping and barrel racing could be next! LOL
Still love the outdoors, reading, history, gardening, dancing
Ok, now....is there something you used to do that you now think "I can't believe I used to like that!"
In high school I did lit drops for Robert Kennedy in Indiana and as a very young adult I was a hippie! Although a clean one!
What was your favorite band/song in high school, then early adulthood compared to now?
In high school it was popular stuff, as a young adult more rock&roll and now I listen to mostly C&W and Christian
Is there anything in your interests, hobbies or life that would surprise people who know you?
Most people seem to be surprised that I am still single! Of course they arent doing their part by fixin me up! LOL

Sorry I am late to the party as Ive been dealing with a MONSTER barometric induced sinus headache. We all have had those and yes sometimes death would seem a positive alternative.
If you are so inclined try a strong bloody Mary, heavy on the horseradish.
It is the horseradish that clears the head, the rest is only good if it doesn`t work.

horseradish
Been there done that, straight out of the bottle!
Thursday evening I made some "comfort food" for me, spagetti (as I am Italian) and drank a 24oz beer so I could get some sleep
Friday night I put a good shot of Triple Sec in my Sleepytime tea
Its a bear to go to bed with a headache and wake up with one!
Muscles are super tight also
Seems like I might have to retire to Arizona or New Mexico instead of Montana or Wyoming!
BTW your smileys are sweet, thank you

MercyMe is a Christian rock group. The song is about what heaven might be like, but it is more than that. I know you are not in Iraq. Let me quote a letter to the group from Lt. Col. Joseph Piek, Task Force Olympia Public Affairs Officer/Mosul, Iraq, that is included in the book "I Can Only Imagine", named for the song:
"Hi. This is Lt. Col. Joseph Piek, and I'm writing to you from Mosul, IRAQ." snip "Just last week I bought a MercyMe CD with "I Can Only Imagine." Our Brigade Chaplain, Major Wayne Garcia, and I walk around our compound at night singing this song.."
"A few nights ago, we lost our first soldier to hostile fire--an improvised explosive device, or IED as they've become known. A friend of the soldier who died sought me out right after the incident. We talked and prayed, and comforted each other. When I finally got to my bunk that night, I played "I Can Only Imagine" until the batteries ran out in my CD player."
"I'm sure this song has brought comfort and healing to thousands of people and this past Monday night, Feb. 16, it brought great comfort to me."
After MercyMe got that letter, they sent boxes of CDs to Lt Col. Piek who distributed them to their soldiers. He wrote back, "In distributing them, it has given me an opportunity to tell my story of how Bart's "I Can Only Imagine" touched me. The CD's have brightened many soldiers' spirits. Thank you so much."
The book is filled with testimonies from people of all walks of life who have been healed, touched, and lifted up from desolation by this song and its meaning. It has helped me in my walk since my husband died nearly 5 years ago.
It is a beautiful song, also has a great musical rhythm to it. Listen to it sometime, you might enjoy it and it might "speak" to you, too.

Harm is a cross breed. He is Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Husky on his father's side. His mother was a Chocolate Lab. He looks like an Alaskan Malamute with Lab ears. Actually, I have a picture of a timber wolf and Harm looks exactly like him except for the ears. Harm weighs about 90 pounds.
