Hi Tulip! Nice to see you. Thanks for the ping. I'm celebrating Peanut Day, because my nickname many moons ago used to be "Peanut"! :)

Jesus' Very Own Peace

Read: Matthew 16:21-23

My peace I give you. —John 14:27

Bible In One Year: Proverbs 19-21; 2 Corinthians 7

On the eve of the execution of Christian martyr Nicholas Ridley (1500-1555), his brother offered to stay with him in the prison to be of comfort. Ridley declined, saying that he planned to sleep as soundly as usual. Because he knew the peace of Jesus, he could rest in his Lord.

The next morning, Ridley told a fellow Christian who was also being executed, "Be of good heart, brother, for God will either assuage the fury of the flame, or else strengthen us to abide it." Then they knelt and prayed by the stake and, after a brief conversation, were burned to death for their faith.

Jesus had given Nicholas Ridley His peace (John 14:27). But what kind of peace did Jesus have? In Matthew 16:21-23, we see His peace in His determination to go to Jerusalem even though He knew He would suffer and die (see Luke 9:51). Peter rebuked Him, but Jesus trusted His Father and went to the cross. His purpose for living was to die.

Amy Carmichael said, "The peace of Jesus stood every sort of test, every strain, and it never broke. It is this, His very own peace, which He says 'I give.'"

No matter how big or small our trials may be, we can trust Jesus to give us His very own peace in the midst of them. —Anne Cetas

For Further Thought
How can we be at peace with God? (Romans 5:1-2).
How do we find peace in our trials? (Philippians 4:6-7).
Have you experienced Jesus' peace?

When Jesus rules the heart, peace reigns.

Running Through Fields

We are all children
running through the fields of life,
some taking worn paths,
some racing through tall grass,
others rolling in wildflowers,
but
we are all together,
here,
running through the fields of life,
and some,
the ones that see beyond the fields,
they catch themselves
in laughter
and make chains with dandelions
to wear upon their heads,
and hold hands with others,
giggling,
casting off shoes
to run barefoot
in the variety of possibilities.

There are so many paths each day, today I found yours.

Ooey gooey was a worm, and what a worm was he!
He stepped onto the railroad track, a train he did not see
Oh, ooey gooey..

The Warrior

The Warrior isn’t all fight,
There’s more to him than that.
They’re brothers, fathers, husbands,
When they aren’t in combat.
Men train to fight when need be,
But once they were just boys.
Now they carry weapons tight,
But they still miss their toys.
The fight requires their focus,
They take it all in stride.
Pray for them as they protect,
And pray for those who’ve died.
To them we owe our freedom,
They put it on the line.
If you cannot support them,
Leave soon please, that is fine.

Amy, here's one I put out a few months back. Hope you enjoy.

Warrior Poet

The skies above me burn tonight,
just as my blood did, during the fight
that started with the rising sun,
where we stood our ground, until we won.

The ground beneath my boots shook then,
from pounding hearts and the wars of men,
Fear arose in my aching throat,
that coppery taste of which the poet wrote,
but tempered with resolve, for this I knew:
that I’m the best at what I do.

Faster friend, or fiercer foe,
which would you have, in the afterglow,
as the sun sets upon a day of swords,
and I take time to forge these words?

The night-breeze whispers, soft, serene
belying the truth of this battle scene,
for tomorrow’s dawn shall come once more,
as The Poet pauses, and trades words for war.

That is beautiful CG!.. Today is National POW MIA day. God bless all those who have fought to protect our freedom.

BTW- yesterday My 6 y/o old son told me that he would like to be a solider when he grows up.

My thoughts are with the parents of our troops today too. I wonder how they fare with their little boys and girls going to war.

How bittersweet it must be to raise someone to love the flag and this country- and then know someday they may have to fight for it and for their lives because of it.

God bless them. Where we be without them?
