Jay McKinnon, a self-described Department of Homeland Security-trained document specialist, has implicated himself in the production of fraudulent Hawaii birth certificate images similar to the one endorsed as genuine by the Barack Obama campaign, and appearing on the same blog entry where the supposedly authentic document appears.
The evidence of forgery and manipulation of images of official documents, triggered by Israel Insider's revelation of the collection of Hawaii birth certificate images on the Photobucket site and the detective work of independent investigative journalists and imaging professionals in the three weeks since the publication of the images, implicate the Daily Kos, an extreme left blog site, and the Obama campaign, in misleading the public with official-looking but manipulated document images of doubtful provenance.
The perceived unreliability of the image has provoked petitions and widespread demands for Obama to submit for objective inspection the paper versions of the "birth certificate" he claimed in his book Dreams from My Father was in his possession, as well as the paper version of the Certificate of Live Birth for which the image on the Daily Kos and the Obama "Fight the Smears" website was supposedly generated.
Without a valid birth certificate, Obama cannot prove he fulfills the "natural born citizen" requirement of the Constitution, throwing into doubt his eligibility to run for President.
McKinnon, who says he is 25-30 years old, operates a website called OpenDNA.com and uses the OpenDNA screen name on various web sites and blogs, including his comments and diary on The Daily Kos. In recent years he has divided his time between Long Beach, California and Vancouver, British Columbia. He is a Democratic political activist, frequent contributor to the left wing Daily Kos blog, and a fervent Barack Obama supporter.

First of all, PJ...you were RIGHT about the hidden seal
Many thanks to Texas Darlin and Greg Gelembiuk, but props to the GIMP development team (http://www.gimp.org/) for providing the software used to examine these images.
* QUESTION: Are there seals hidden from view on the “Certificate of Live Birth” images posted to (a) the Daily Kos. (b) BarackObama.com (aka “Fight the Smears”) and/or (c) the two images posted on OPENDNA’s PhotoBucket account?
* ANSWER: YES to (a), but a big, fat NO to (b) and (c)
Basically, I believe I put to rest a flurry of posts on the other blogs that are showing off an enhanced version of the Daily Kos image which reveals what appears to be a seal hidden from view.
PJ pointed this out to me. Without the use of any filters, PJ could see tghe ripples in the Kos image.
And, my response to finding the hidden seal is BIG WOOF!
As I mentioned earlier on, the State of Hawaii does not issue uncertified COLB’s — either you have a COLB that bears the embossed seal and signature block on it, or you have zilch.
Therefore, ergo, at some point in the creation of the first fake image, there had to have been an actual COLB or a copy of an actual COLB.
Either way, you cannot create a fake COLB from thin air. You have to start with something that is a copy of one.
Speaking of “zilch,” that is exactly what Obama has provided to America to prove where, when and to whom he was born.
Obama does have some s’plainin’ to do.
We’ve read his “Audacity of Hype.”
We’ve read his “Schemes of my Birth Certificate.”
Now, please Sen. Obama...

With all due respect to the OP, this thread is about Obama’S BOGUS BC, and if we let the conversation be steered away from discussing this hoax, then those who started the hoax will have carte blanche to perpetuate even more fraudulent activities.
Enough of you do believe it IS a big deal, as I do, and as others have said. What I am going to do now, is to sum up exactly what these investigations mean to all of us.

An original, printed on green paper, and duly certified, “Certification of Live Birth” for Barack Obama does not exist anywhere in the public domain, and most likely not in the private sector that is limited to Obama, his family, and anyone else authorized by the State of Hawaii to have one.
You can be sure that if a real one was obtained under false pretenses, the offender would have made a copy of it and either posted it under a pseudonym, exactly as it is, or is keeping it to blackmail Obama.
In short, whatever information is contained on the actual BC — if one really does exist — that information would likely be very damaging to Obama if ever released to the public.
The only thing we know for sure is that EVERY SINGLE IMAGE purported to be a copy of Obama’s real BC or COLB, is a phony, a fake, a forgery, and/or a fraud — take your pick of adjectives. Either one says that a crime has been committed.
And, is it not our civic duty to report any crime we see?
Somebody start the petition, and count me in as one of the first signers.

The rebuttal fails. Most of it is just snark and snarly agreement with AJ Strata’s points (yet AJ Strata was trying to correct the record on some impressions that were given).

The seal raised impression is faint ... but is there.
Saying its not there is just filibustering. the seal impression is there in the Obama COLB.
Seals are something you can see, feel and discern without resorting to CSI forensics, fool.

What you are asking for is for Obama to wave the original in front of the cameras and show to journalists.

I am sure he has the COLB, and that is what was shared (scanned version). He wont do more than this. Why not? Because it will suit them much better if this rabbit trail is pursued by the right-wing ‘crazies’, and the activity used to discredit his opponents should it get out of hand.
But we know Obama has such proof and such documents. His passport is a proof of US citizenship, and he has one.
The probability that his passport says anything other than “honolulu hawaii”? Nil. And if his passport has that, then prior in his life he provided sufficient proof of it to authorities. The COLB image therefore does have indirect confirmation of validity.
That’s not the issue. The issue was the (debunked) claim that there was no seal on the document that was the source of the image. There is. Less insults and more paying attention to the actual argument and discussion would help.

If this is true (I am sure it is not), how on earth did Barack Obama ever manage to get a US passport?
He may have a US passport but what no one knows is what name is on it...it could be Barry Dunham or Barry Toot, (joke) for all we know.

I checked the Factcheck edition of the Obama COLB and it does appear to have what appears to be a seal on it.
And I compared it to every previous copy of the same document posted on either the Daily Kos or Obama’s own site.
Why is it that the seal can be seen on the latest version and not the “original”?
Why is it that all of the versions have a border that appears to be manipulated at the corners, and at the text boxes?
Why is it that in all the versions the green background is blurred white around the black lettering?
I have a simple answer, we are looking at a progressive forgery backed by “experts” whose sole job is to fix or debunk the flaws in the original until the latest version of the forgery is unassailable.
The left has learned from the Rather debacle, and is using us to proofread their frauds for them so that they can create even better frauds.
