Not much on Bushmaster. Same for Olympic Arms. ARmalites QA has really gone down hill... Colt, DPMS, Rock River, Cavalry Arms. One or two other small manufacturers of high end parts all have good reviews from those I've talked to.

Hehhe... EVERYONE should know at least "something" factual about guns. If nothing else, at least basic safety. I'd be all for adding it to school curriculum.

I know the basics. Gun safety, how to handle and load them, how to shoot them. I just don't know types and parts and stuff like that.

I used to have a 5.56 AR, but sold it when I got discharged.
I never have trusted the gas system/bolt-carrier/bolt arrangement in such a light-powered round.
If the heavier loads are more reliable (or if someone would just put a damned buffer rod in the gas system) I'd be pleased to get an AR-type rifle: The lower receiver is simply brilliant.

I got lots of book-learnin', but not much of that learnin' is about guns.

They even come in a variety of colors as well. Advancements in coatings techonogy has done some really neat things for firearms. My AR has a black teflon coats barrel. Makes cleaning carbon off the out side as easy as whiping it down with a rag. Bolt is chromed and cleans up just as easily. Gas system still can be a pain to clean out, but isn't really all that hard.
I'm the type that loves to tinker with stuff. No other gunsmith will ever touch this rifle unless I simply don't have the right machining equipement to do the job.
