• Supreme Court Won’t Restore Green Party to Nevada Ballot

Epoch Times ^ | 20 Sept 2024 | Mathew Vadum
The U.S. Supreme Court rejected on Sept. 20 the Green Party’s request to restore its candidates to the state ballot for the Nov. 5 election. The new ruling was made after the Nevada Supreme Court ruled 5–2 on Sept. 6 that the party’s candidates could not appear on the ballot because they used the wrong form when gathering ballot-access signatures from the public. The ruling also follows the Nevada State Democratic Party’s challenge of signatures that would have permitted Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein to appear on the ballot. No justices dissented from the new order, nor did they explain...
• Inside the 'weird' write-in campaign needed to help Biden win New Hampshire

Last year, Biden tried to end New Hampshire’s 100-year reign as the nation’s first presidential primary state when he directed the Democratic National Committee to overhaul the 2024 primary calendar by putting South Carolina (which he won in 2020) ahead of New Hampshire (which he lost). The Democratic National Committee, which essentially becomes the political arm of the White House when a Democrat is in occupancy, promptly ratified Biden’s wishes. Iowa went down easily since it was already on the chopping block... But the Granite State refused to budge... triggered DNC rules prohibiting any presidential candidate from campaigning in any...
• 'Free Speech' Social Network Parler Allegedly Censoring #WriteInTrumpforGA

Newsweek via MSN ^ | 11/24/2020 | James Crowley
Social network Parler has allegedly hidden posts on its website that are tagged as #WriteInTrumpForGA. The hashtag is encouraging disgruntled supporters of President Donald Trump to write the president in rather than any candidate for the upcoming Senate Runoff elections. The hashtag originated in a Super PAC with GOP ties. The Committee for American Sovereignty, connected to political consultant Roger Stone, launched a website calling for people to "Hack the Runoff," and write in Trump. The website states: With enough write-ins in the Georgia senate race, we can tilt the balance in Georgia in Trump's favor! If we can do this,...

A former Marine colonel who served as General John Kelly's chief of staff says he will run as an independent write-in candidate in the upcoming Alabama Senate contest. Kelly currently serves as Donald Trump's chief of staff. The announcement by retired colonel Lee Busby is just the latest twist in the Alabama Senate race that has been roiled by charges that the GOP candidate, Roy Moore, dated teenage girls. Washington Times: Mr. Busby told the newspaper that he intends to run as an independent and rely on social media to promote himself. "If this were a military operation, the...
• Mitch McConnell Publicly Floats Jeff Sessions As Write-In Alternative To Roy Moore

The Washington Examiner ^ | 11/14/17 | Al Weaver
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday publicly floated the idea of getting Attorney General Jeff Sessions to take his old Senate seat, as Republicans continue to seek alternatives to Judge Roy Moore. McConnell made the comments to the Wall Street Journal's CEO Council while talking about who could mount a successful write-in campaign, like Sen. Lisa Murkowski did in Alaska in 2010. McConnell said she was popular in the state and was universally well-known, qualities that Sessions has in Alabama. "The name being most often discussed may not be available, but the Alabamian who would fit that standard would...

Former Republican presidential candidate John Kasich confessed on Monday evening that he wrote in Arizona Sen. John McCain for president on his early voting ballot instead of Republican nominee Donald Trump. Chris Schrimpf, the governor's political spokesman, confirmed to Cleveland.com that the Ohio governor voted straight-ticket Republican on the rest of his ballot, but stood by his July promise not to vote for the billionaire businessman.

During a debate Monday evening in Phoenix, Ariz., in which the Republican incumbent faced off against Democratic Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, McCain revealed he just might write in a friend of his in the Senate. "I think I might write in Lindsey Graham," McCain replied, referring to his fellow senator and former Republican presidential candidate. "He's an old, good friend of mine and a lot of people like him," he added with a smile.

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) said Tuesday that she will write in Jeb Bush’s name when voting for president in November, according to ABC News. "I think I'll write in the name Jeb Bush," she told the Miami Herald editorial board. "A candidate should espouse optimism." Ros-Lehtinen had endorsed the former Florida governor’s primary campaign before he dropped out of the race in February.

This is my message to the GOP. Ignore trump voters at your peril. Keep saying that nominations are done by delegates not constituents. Keep saying that rules have not been yet made for this convention as even when made they won't matter to my ilk. Earlier Limbaugh had a guest that asked why Trump or any other candidate wouldn't just support the nominee. Rush in his wisdom stated he wouldn't worry too much about the nominees, but rather Trump's legion of voters. Aye, if Trump gets a majority and doesn't get the nomination I'll be writing him in.

Jill, a former Miss USA Mississippi pageant winner, is the wife of Chris McDaniel, whose selection by CONSERVATIVES was thwarted by the race baiting team of Thad Cochran.I went to ballotpedia.org:http://ballotpedia.org/Ballot_access_requirements_for_political_candidates_in_Mississippito find out if there was any reason Jill could not be a write in candidate. Some of pointed out, I believe, that Mississippi, has a "sore loser" law that prevents CHRIS from running as a write-in.

First, it was a Florida congressional race. Now? A Pennsylvania special election for the state Senate. The Citizens Alliance of Pennsylvania scores a major win — and yes, the winner says he heard about Obamacare. Scott Wagner is a Pennsylvania state Senator this morning. It wasn’t supposed to happen. In a stunning upset, the York County businessman, taking a stand against the state’s political establishment of both parties, made state history by winning a special election for the Pennsylvania state Senate — in a write-in landslide, defeating both the Republican and Democrat nominees. Wagner captured 48 percent of the vote....

I have seen a lot of FReepers state that they would NEVER cast a vote for Romney. That is my gut reaction as well. Mitt is on recored saying that I will vote for him eventually. His arrogance makes me want to prove him wrong and write in a cadidate. But I fear that will lead to 4 more years of Obama. Until I stare at the ballot in November, I don't know for sure what I will do. If it is a choice between Obama and Romney, what will you do?

This just keeps getting better and better for the Virginia GOP, doesn’t it? Via Ballot Access News, first we get the Attorney General for Virginia pointing out that the requirements for ballot access are far too restrictive: _____________________________________________________ I would throw out for consideration that we should lower our requirements to 100 legitimate signatures per congressional district. Let’s face it, absent a serious write-in challenge from some other candidate, Virginia won’t be nearly as ‘fought over’ as it should be in the midst of such a wide open nomination contest. Our own laws have reduced our relevance. Sad. _____________________________________________________ …and...

The Division of Elections has unveiled the process by which it will count the write-in votes in the U.S. Senate race. The write-in count will begin Wednesday morning, though the division is also counting more than 20,000 absentee ballots today. The ballots will be transported by Goldbelt Security from the Division of Elections ballot room to Juneau's Alaska Litho Building, where there will be 15 teams of two elections officials, with an observer from both the Murkowski and Miller camps likely sitting at each table. When the counting of the write-in ballots begins, election workers will open the sealed envelopes...

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski is on the cusp of vindication after waging a high stakes - and long shot - write-in campaign to keep her job. Initial returns show write-in ballots holding a 13,439-vote edge over GOP nominee Joe Miller, and though it's not clear how many of those are for her or will be counted as valid, she's confident enough in her winning to tell supporters that they'd "made history." The write-in count starts Wednesday in Juneau.

A local Alaska radio host recently discovered that freedom of speech does in fact have limitations. Dan Fagan of KQFD, angered by Alaska incumbent Senator Lisa Murkowski’s decision to launch a write-in campaign after her defeat in the Alaskan GOP primaries by Tea Party favorite Joe Miller, allowed his radio show to become a platform for anti-Murkowski rhetoric. Fagan dubbed Murkowski a “sore loser” for her decision to mount a write-in campaign and spoke out against her unreasonable expectations, such as urging the Alaska election board to accept entries like “Lisa” and “Lisa M.” in the write-in. When those requests...
