Murkowski's Camp Attempts to Stop Freedom of Speech

A local Alaska radio host recently discovered that freedom of speech does in fact have limitations. Dan Fagan of KQFD, angered by Alaska incumbent Senator Lisa Murkowski’s decision to launch a write-in campaign after her defeat in the Alaskan GOP primaries by Tea Party favorite Joe Miller, allowed his radio show to become a platform for anti-Murkowski rhetoric. Fagan dubbed Murkowski a “sore loser” for her decision to mount a write-in campaign and spoke out against her unreasonable expectations, such as urging the Alaska election board to accept entries like “Lisa” and “Lisa M.” in the write-in. When those requests were rejected, Murkowski then convinced the Alaska Division of Elections to give out lists of write-in candidates.

Fagan, clearly frustrated, continued: “I’m tired of letting the government break the law day after day after day. We sit around and do nothing. This is an honorable thing to do. If the government says it’s going to assist Lisa Murkowski legally, we are going to make it as hard as possible to do that.”

Fagan apparently has some influence, as hundreds of his fans took his advice just hours before the deadline to file as write-in candidates. The list now holds well nearly 200 names, some of which are quite close to Lisa Murkowski’s, like “Lisa M.” and a few Polish-sounding names that also end in “ski.”

Murkowski seems very powerful in that state.

Is it possible that many of the write-ins are writ-wrong?

I think at this time she has more write-in support than the others have in votes.

The corrupt Alaskan Ruling Class has announced it will NOT accept write-in votes for Miller!

I wonder what this manual count of write-in candidates will reveal?

It will reveal that anything from "Gus Schultz" to "xxyabbbaQQ2yellow" qualify as alternate spellings of Lisa Murkowski.

I think you’re probably right. And she is detestable. I really wish she was a democrat, she’s certainly not what I want in a Republican.

Too powerful.

I watched the last debate and I can understand (liberal) folks wanting to vote for McAdams. And I can understand Republicans and Conservatives wanting to vote for Joe Miller.

But for the life of me, I can’t see why anybody in their right mind would vote for that Murkowski.

I bet she doesn’t have enough write-ins to win.

She did what Lieberman did, in effect.

“It will reveal that anything from “Gus Schultz” to “xxyabbbaQQ2yellow” qualify as alternate spellings of Lisa Murkowski.”

Whereas, Gus Schultz and Murkowski both contain the letters “U”, “S”, and “R”, we proclaim “intent of the voter” rules apply. Furthermore, xxyabbbaQQ2yellow, as most everyone is aware, spells Lisa in the language of the natives of Alaska, and again, the rules apply.

Alaska law requires exact spelling of a name or it is tossed.

Of course, ballot counters at the state elections office are allowed to change the spelling if, in their opinion, the voter intended to vote for someone specific. At least the Alaska Supreme Court will rule that way in the end. If that doesn't work, Murcowski’s friends in the Democratic party will find some excess ballots that they are not using and deliver them to her.

You are confused my FRiend.

Lisa is not “powerful” she is but a meat puppet for the power behind her

Unions
Native Corporations
Big Oil

All those that stick thier snout into the public trough and feed slopily on the tax dollars there.... They own lisa - outright.

How can I tell?

A (D) former govenor goes on the air and declears THe Dein can’t win - vote for Lisa

40 “Republican” bigwigs go after Joe Miller and praise Lisa

Several Unions who reliably go (D) oddly come out and and support Lisa

TV stations support Lisa overtly and coverly - some get caught.

Yup, up here, when Big Money talks - people dance..... oh, do they dance.

You warned from the beginning that with Murkowski’s incumbency and cash it was going to a uphill fight for Miller. Lots of folks here thought all he needed was Palin’s endorsement and it would be a walk in the park after that.

Ya, well the view on the ground here in Alaska is going to be diferent than somewhere in KS or NY.

And the “Lisa thing” is more who is backing her, than Lisa herself. Finger puppets are funny that way.
