Single-mother families make up one in five American families with children under 18. I grew up in one of them. Solo parenting is no easy feat. Even though my Philadelphia childhood was filled with happy memories, we went through hardship, too. I remember how stressed my mom would get about making ends meet. In high school, while I spent hours on homework, she was in court fighting not to lose our house. The mayor of Japan's Osaka has come under fire for suggesting men should do grocery shopping during the coronavirus outbreak because women are indecisive and "take a long time". Japan is under a state of emergency over the pandemic, and residents in some areas have been asked to shop less frequently and only send one family member out to get supplies to limit contact. Osaka Mayor Ichiro Matsui told reporters on Thursday (Apr 23) that men should be entrusted with grocery runs because women "take a long time as they browse around and hesitate about this and that", Kyodo news...

<p>TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- A man who fought the driver of a moving truck while hanging from the side window died when the truck hit a tree.</p> <p>Hector Lopez, 20, of Houston, was killed Saturday when the truck hit a palm tree and the vehicle landed on him, sheriff's deputies said.</p>
