At the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner Saturday night, comedian Trevor Noah pointed out Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in the audience before attempting some humor at his expense. The only problem with this? That’s right — it’s fake news. Gov. DeSantis was not at the dinner. Watch for yourself: “There’s many big names here tonight. Yeah. One of my favorites, Rhonda Sanctus is here. Yeah, yeah. Oh, man. I’m actually surprised that he found the time. You know, he’s been so busy trying to outmaneuver Trump for 2024. I see you, Ron. I see you, player.” Trevor Noah on FL...

The Hill said Tuesday it is pulling out of future White House Correspondents' dinners without “major reforms” to the event following the controversy that erupted over comedian Michelle Wolf’s performance at this year’s dinner on Saturday. “The Hill, which has participated in the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) dinner for many years, does not plan at this time to participate in the event moving forward,” James Finkelstein, The Hill’s chairman, wrote in a letter dated Tuesday to Steven Thomma, executive director of the White House Correspondents’ Association. “In short, there's simply no reason for us to participate in something that...

“The Daily Show’s” Hasan Minhaj, who is hosting the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in DC, was asked by organizers not to make fun of President Donald Trump, who will not be in attendance, says a source who saw the comic at the Village Underground on Thursday. “It was a polite request because Trump is so thin-skinned,” the source said. Reuters’ Jeff Mason, who is president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, insists he never said Trump was “thin-skinned,” but added that he wanted a balanced event.

Remember Margaret Sullivan? She is The Washington Post media columnist who wanted to retire the term "fake news" when it boomeranged on liberals after it had been embraced by the mainstream media. Now Sullivan has another crusade in which she wants to cancel something. The White House Correspondents' Association dinner. Although Sullivan supported The New York Times withdrawing from the dinner several years ago when she was their Public Editor, she did not call for its outright cancellation. It is way more than obvious that her real reason for her sudden urge to cancel the dinner outright is that Donald...

The D.C. Chapter of FreeRepublic.com invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us for our annual protest of media bias to be held outside the White House Correspondents Association dinner in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, April 25. The D.C. Chapter has freeped this dinner every year following the first freep organized by Free Republic in 1999. This protest is always the most fun one of the year as it puts us in direct contact with reporters, columnists, editors, politicians, activists, government officials, Hollywood-types and curious tourists. Our protest location has been moved this year for the first...

A dozen conservative activists interacted with dinner attendees including Woody Harrelson and Chris Matthews. As the nation’s elite journalists arrived at the Washington Hilton to hobnob with President Obama at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, many were met by a small group of protesters shouting "don't believe the liberal press" and holding signs adorned with photos of deceased conservative activist Andrew Breitbart. A few notable attendees politely mixed it up a bit with the protesters, who also shouted accusations of hypocrisy at the well-dressed journalists and Hollywood celebrities. Protester Kevin Martin asked MSNBC host Chris Matthews why he wasn't driven...

Donald Trump pushed back Sunday at President Barack Obama for making him the "focus of the evening" in his White House Correspondents' Dinner speech, and laced into Saturday Night Live comedian Seth Meyers as a "stutterer" whose delivery was lacking. Trump's comments came in a quick phone-in to "Fox and Friends," a day after he sat almost stone-faced while the president and Meyers ripped him repeatedly, to belly laughs from the crowd. People at tables around him gaped at him watching for a reaction, and some of his tablemates wrote on Twitter that it was uncomfortable. "Well, I really understood...

On April 29, Pied Piper Pitt bid FAREWELL to DUmmieland and in TYPICAL form returned less than a week later. One would think that Pitt would at least keep a low profile for awhile due to his embarrassing backtrack but NO, he is back with his typical unintentionally comedic bloated grandstanding style. Pitt apparently decided to jump onto the Colbert bandwagon and attempt to ride on his popularity with the DUmmies by posting this melodramatic hyperbole-laden THREAD titled, "An Open Letter to Richard Cohen." And what was Richard Cohen's great "crime" that he is now on the receiving end...

Kapow! Within a day, I got more than 2,000 e-mails. A day later, I got 1,000 more. By the fourth day, the number had reached 3,499 -- a figure that does not include the usual offers of nubile Russian women or loot from African dictators. The Colbert messages began with Patrick Manley ("You wouldn't know funny if it slapped you in the face") and ended with Ron ("Colbert ROCKS, you MURDER") who was so proud of his thought that he copied countless others. Ron, you're a genius. The e-mails pulse in my queue, emanating raw hatred. This spells trouble --...

WASHINGTON - Political comedy often is intended to stir controversy, but this doesn't usually involve broadcasting rights and the public affairs network C-SPAN. The cable network asked two Internet video providers, YouTube and IFILM, to pull clips of Stephen Colbert's April 29 performance at the White House Correspondents Association dinner from their Web sites. C-SPAN said it contacted the companies because the copyrighted material was posted online without its permission. Both YouTube and IFILM complied with the request. Colbert hosts a satirical current events show on Comedy Central and performed his comedy routine at the correspondent's dinner. YouTube posted the...

A "blogstorm" is thundering across liberal Web sites. Many liberals are furious at the White House press corps for virtually ignoring Stephen Colbert's keynote speech at the press corp's own White House Correspondents' Dinner last Saturday. To non-liberals, this may seem like an isolated complaint. To liberals, it further justifies their belief that the media, particularly TV news, is a big stinking cabal of conservatives. The truth is many in the media wrote about Bush's stand-up routine at the dinner as if they had just watched the coming of a comic genius, but they didn't report much on Colbert's funnier,...

First, let me state my credentials: I am a funny guy. This is well known in certain circles, which is why, even back in elementary school, I was sometimes asked by the teacher to "say something funny" -- as if the deed could be done on demand. This, anyway, is my standing for stating that Stephen Colbert was not funny at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner. All the rest is commentary. The commentary, though, is also what I do, and it will make the point that Colbert was not just a failure as a comedian but rude. Rude is...

House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) took on a rare role yesterday as a defender of President Bush. Hoyer came to the defense of the commander in chief after Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, where the president took a drubbing from comedian Stephen Colbert. “I thought some of it was funny, but I think it got a little rough,” Hoyer said. “He is the president of the United States, and he deserves some respect.” “I’m certainly not a defender of the administration,” Hoyer reassured stunned observers, but Colbert “crossed the line” with many jokes that were “in bad taste.”...

A thank you site dedicated to Hero worship and praise for left leaning non-comedian Stephen Colbert. I FReeped it and put in a few sarcastic "Thank you's" of my own and thought others might like to do the same. At the very least it is entertaining to see what the linguini spined Liberals consider a Hero. Is it a Soldier who defends all of our freedoms?...NO Could it be a life saving doctor?...OF course not! How about a geek using his fifteen minutes to act liking an idiot and read Democratic talking points?? BINGO!!

NEW YORK Probably to no one's surprise, Jon Stewart, host of Comedy Central's "Daily Show," hailed the performance of his stablemate Stephen Colbert at Saturday night's White House Correspondents dinner. Colbert's lampooning of the president and the press has generated a good deal of praise and criticism. "It was balls-alicious," Stewart said. "Apparently he was under the impression that they'd hired him to do what he does every night on television" -- that is, make fun of conservatives, public officials, and the press in the guise of an O'Reillyesque talk show host. "We've never been prouder of him, but HOLY...

Lack of Raves Prompts Rants You'll never believe what the Angry Left is angry about now. It seems the biased right-wing media are trying to cover up . . . a comedy routine! Editor & Publisher, the trade magazine for Bush-hating newspapermen, tells the story: A blistering comedy "tribute" to President Bush by Comedy Central's faux talk-show host Stephen Colbert at the White House Correspondent Dinner Saturday night left George and Laura Bush unsmiling at its close. . . .[E&P's Joe] Strupp, in the crowd during the Colbert routine, had observed that quite a few sitting near him looked a little uncomfortable at times, perhaps feeling...
