This December, it's a different kind of drama. The past two SEC championship games were 3 1/2-hour commercials for the league's dominance. Powerhouses Florida and Alabama squared off in de facto national championship semifinals. Both games starred past or eventual Heisman Trophy winners, neither with a whiff of controversy, and two coaches with reputations of success exceeded only by their capacity for grimness. The 2010 version tastes a little different. South Carolina is coached by one of the conference's most despised (and successful) coaches. Auburn brings a perfect record, a shot at a national championship and a Heisman candidate, runaway...

WAR EAGLE! Today is the day that we all wait for. It comes once a year. Every year. It is all down to this. And NOTHING else matters. IRON BOWL DAY! Beat Bama! I grew up in Auburn. I was moved there in the fall of 1962 when my dad became a professor in the School of Engineering. We lived across from Magnolia Dormitory, right in between the Day Boarding House and Mr. and Mrs. H.W. Nixon's home. Bodie Hinton was the director of the Auburn Marching Band. Ralph Brown Draughon was the President. Jimmy Sidle was the quarterback...

I nearly choked on my coffee when I read that Obama thinks Pelosi will go down as one of the finest speakers in the U.S. Whatever he's drinking I don't want any. It makes people delusional. Reid must drink the same. Why else would he think that "but for him" we'd be in a depression?

Tuscaloosa, AL (AHN) - Officials from the University of Alabama admitted Thursday that student athletes received free textbooks for other students. Allegations started during the 2007 football season, when five players were suspended for violating NCAA rules. The rules say a student athlete cannot spend more than $100 dollars as gifts for girlfriends, boyfriends or other students.

1. Utah ... national champion?! Why not? I still don't believe this is the best team in America, but without a playoff, it's all about the résumé. This wasn't a fluky win and this wasn't a case of Alabama coming out flat. Utah straight-up whipped the Tide on both sides of the ball, and remember, this was against a team that was No. 1 for most of the year and was a quarter away from playing for the national title. This was a great, great 'Bama team, and Utah beat it like a drum. This isn't 1984 BYU; that Cougars...

36-0 WHOOOOOOOOO. Thank God, I can go to work Monday. I've been letting my mouth overload my hind-quarters, and it would have been embarassing if the Tide had lost, or even if the Tigers had held it close. Bring on the Gators.

It is time to get things underway. A very wet Texas is digging out from the damage left from Hurrican Ike. Ike is now over the northeast and is still a very wet storm. Best wishes and prayers to those in Ike's path. As far as I know, we are enjoying a reprieve from tropical storms at the moment. The NYTs has put out at least 4 stories smearing Sarah Palin. Have they covered the Ayers-Obama relationship? Have they investigated as to whether Nobama is even eligible to run for President? I don't think so. In a non-related matter, stock...

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- Arkansas relied on a swarming defense and the rushing tandem of Darren McFadden and Felix Jones to beat No. 2 Auburn 27-10 Saturday, severely damaging the Tigers' national title hopes. McFadden rushed for 145 yards, including a 63-yard touchdown run, and Jones ran for 104, leading the Razorbacks to the stunning victory. Jones' 1-yard touchdown run gave Arkansas (4-1, 3-0 Southeastern Conference) a 24-10 lead late in the third quarter that was too much for a sputtering Auburn offense to overcome. The Tigers (5-1, 3-1) had already survived two SEC scares, salvaging wins over South Carolina...

AUBURN - On cool Tuesday morning, Auburn's football team put the finishing touches on its game plan for Thursday night's game at South Carolina. The No. 2 Tigers (4-0, 2-0) play the Gamecocks (3-1, 1-1) at 6:45 at Williams-Brice Stadium. The game will be televised nationally by ESPN. "It's been a hectic week, a short week," Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville said. "These guys have done a lot of work and the coaches have done a lot of preparation. We've gotten a lot done." Tuberville said his team should go into the game healthy. Tailback Kenny Irons, linebacker Karibi Dede and...

AUBURN, Ala. -- No. 3 Auburn beat No. 6 LSU, 7-3, in a game that set football back 40 years, and that is typed with a song in my heart. If you love physical football, this game was for you. If you love a game between the tackles; if you think passes are for sissies; if you think the spread offense is an Al Qaeda plot, you should have been one of the 87,451 screamers Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Let the rest of the nation razzle and dazzle. The Southeastern Conference has officially survived the Steve Spurrier Era with its...

Newspaper Apologizes to Bo Jackson for Reporting He Took Steroids The Associated Press Apr 10, 2005 ONTARIO, Calif. "Jackson has stated publicly he has never used steroids," the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin said on its Web site. "We retract the quote and the further statement that the speaker personally witnessed this damage to his life. We apologize to Mr. Jackson, without reservation." In a story published March 24 under sports editor...

Auburn beats VA Tech in the Sugar Bowl, 16-13, to finish the season undefeated. 2 days ago Utah whipped Pitt in the Fiesta Bowl to also complete an undefeated season. USC and Oklahoma play tomorrow night in the bogus national championship game, but in truth, once again no one will know who was the best team this season.
