Ben Carson has the ability to say everything he shouldn’t at exactly the wrong time. Since the former neurosurgeon has taken up the role of working on Donald Trump’s vice presidential team, he has suggested that the candidate may pick a Democratic running mate, dropped she-who-must-not-be-named Sarah Palin as a potential pick and earlier generally questioned a number of the presumptive nominee’s habits from his Twitter use to lack of pragmatism. So he was off the VP team in a hurry.

Donald Trump will meet Monday with Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, whom key Republicans consider a possible running mate for the presumptive nominee. The pair is scheduled to meet at Trump Tower in New York City, The Washington Post reports, citing sources who asked not to be named. Corker, 63, is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He is the former mayor of Chattanooga and was first elected to Congress in 2006. He has had a key role in many foreign policy issues involving the Obama administration, including the Iran nuclear deal.

Which begs the question: Who is he going to pick as his vice presidential nominee? The short answer: No one knows. Trump relishes being unpredictable so trying to game out how this most unconventional of politicians will make his mind up is a bit of a guessing game. Add to that the fact that Trump's inner circle remains, largely, devoid of establishment types and you quickly get into a situation where the people talking don't know much and the people who do know aren't talking.
