The state’s 1,800 municipal clerks are prohibited from using President Donald Trump’s federal voter database intended to flag noncitizen voters, the Wisconsin Elections Commission ruled Friday. Accessing the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements database would be “impossible” because state law bars clerks from sharing voters' personal information, the bipartisan commission determined in a unanimous vote. That law supersedes a U.S. Supreme Court ruling last month that allowed the Trump administration to move ahead with creating the database, commissioners said. The Pennsylvania Department of State issued a memo on Friday telling election officials in all counties that a "widespread outage" is impacting Statewide Uniform Registry of Electors (SURE) services. This means that the voter databases, as maintained by the state, is essentially non-functioning as election day approaches. SURE is the state-wide system to maintain accurate voting records that county election officials can rely on when managing and facilitating polling places in their counties.

The State Department paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxpayers grants to an Israeli group that used the money to build a campaign to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in last year’s Israeli parliamentary elections, a congressional investigation concluded Tuesday.
