The sister of a federal protective officer in Oakland who was fatally shot during a protest for George Floyd that turned violent told Congress on Wednesday calls to defund the police are "ridiculous". "It is a ridiculous solution to claim that defunding police departments is the solution to police brutality and discrimination because it's not a solution. It gets us nowhere as a nation and removes the safety net protection that every citizen deserves from their communities elected officials," Angela Underwood Jacobs said at the House Judiciary Committee's hearing on proposed changes to police practices on Capitol Hill. Jacobs' brother,...

If the left has its way in the next few years, there won't be anyone left in prison because, you see, they're overflowing with innocent black men locked up for "nonviolent drug crimes." All of them! Over the weekend, NBC News investigative reporter Leigh Ann Caldwell appeared on MSNBC's "Kasie DC" to tell the story of Bill Underwood, loving parent and prison mentor, who has already spent nearly 30 years in prison for a nonviolent drug crime. Caldwell reported: "William Underwood, now 65 years old, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for a nonviolent drug-related crime. It was...

Under pressure from the courts and the New York attorney general, the Trump Foundation has agreed to dissolve under judicial supervision. Attorney General Barbara Underwood announced on Tuesday that the Foundation's remaining assets will be distributed to charities approved by her. And the lawsuit filed by the AG isn't over. According to Underwood's announcement, the lawsuit -- which seeks millions in restitution and penalties and a bar on President Trump and his three eldest children from serving on the boards of other New York charities -- remains ongoing.

A series of New York State Attorney Generals have weaponized the Office of Attorney General against Donald Trump, his relatives, and his businesses. AG Eric Schneiderman, who ended up resigning in disgrace after sexual abuse allegations, made a name for himself by threatening Trump, as the NY Times reported just before Schneiderman resigned: For the last 17 months, Eric T. Schneiderman, the attorney general of New York, had held himself up as the anti-Trump: a one-man legal wrecking ball, taking on the president and his agenda in both the courts and the court of public opinion… Some have even held...

Lauren Underwood has won the 14th District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, defeating challenger Randy Hultgren, according to returns as reported by the Associated Press. Underwood is a registered nurse and health policy expert. Her top causes as a candidate are access to quality health care for all Americans, the presence of high-paying jobs and a strong local economy, and maintaining the safety and security of northern Illinois families. Hultgren has been the 14th District congressman since 2011. Underwood was endorsed by former President Barack Obama and supported by a Democratic super PAC. The flipping of the 14th...

The Manhattan district attorney’s office is considering pursuing criminal charges against the Trump Organization and two senior company officials in connection with Michael D. Cohen’s hush money payment to an adult film actress, according to two officials with knowledge of the matter. A state investigation would center on how the company accounted for its reimbursement to Mr. Cohen for the $130,000 he paid to the actress, Stephanie Clifford, who has said she had an affair with President Trump, the officials s

The New York State attorney general’s office filed a scathingly worded lawsuit on Thursday taking aim at the Donald J. Trump Foundation, accusing the charity and the Trump family of sweeping violations of campaign finance laws, self-dealing and illegal coordination with the presidential campaign. The lawsuit, which seeks to dissolve the foundation and bar President Trump and three of his children from serving on nonprofit organizations, was an extraordinary rebuke of a sitting president. The attorney general also sent referral letters to the Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Election Commission for possible further action, adding to Mr. Trump’s extensive...

As Republican presidential candidates argued about foreign policy, terrorism, immigration and, of course, the horrors of a Hillary Clinton administration, another politician was sneakily making his move -- and he wasn't even on stage. "America, I'm only getting started," announced President Frank Underwood in a fake, but cleverly timed, campaign ad for his reelection bid. The parody ad, which promotes the launch date of the fourth season of Netflix's "House of Cards," was released with the hashtag #FU2016 during Tuesday night's GOP debate. It's a new day in America. #FU2016 https://t.co/0AcBefiby5 - House of Cards (@HouseofCards) December 16, 2015

“Something in the Water” (Mark 1:4-11; Romans 6:1-11; Genesis 1:1-5)I don’t listen to pop music or country music on the radio, but recently I read that there is a song that’s popular on the airwaves right now that makes some references to baptism. That caught my attention, naturally, so I looked it up and listened to it online. It’s a song called “Something in the Water,” by a singer named Carrie Underwood. I don’t know if you’ve heard it or not. But it does have to do with baptism. Now very likely it’s coming from a theological perspective on baptism...

Underwood started by addressing the crowd of a “serious” condition plaguing the world and it’s called “Postpartum Taylor Swift Disorder.” That is when Brad Paisley stepped in and asked why the government refuses to do anything about it. “Why isn’t our government doing something about this?” asked Paisley. “I’ll be the first to say that President Obama does not care about Postpartum Taylor Swift Disorder.” Carrie Underwood’s answer resulted in the crowd erupting in laughter and applause. “I’m pretty sure that’s why the Democrats lost the Senate,” she said.

The Christian community has rallied around Carrie Underwood in support of her new single, “Something in the Water,” which has earned her criticism from far left atheists. However, she is about to be in hot water with her Christian fan base, as recently surfaced interview transcript has revealed that the songstress supports gay marriage. After wedding NHL player Mike Fisher in July of 2010, Underwood stated, “As a married person myself, I don’t know what it’s like to be told I can’t marry somebody I love, and want to marry. I can’t imagine how that must feel. I definitely think...

The live production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein 1959 Broadway musical, also starred "True Bloods" star Stephen Moyer as Maria's employer and love interest, the strict Capt. Georg Von Trapp; Laura Benanti as the Captain's fiancée, Elsa Schrader; multiple Tony Award-winner and "Private Practice" star Audra McDonald as Mother Abbess and "Smash" alum Christian Borle as family friend Max Detweiler. Somehow, each supporting star outshined Underwood in a show fraught with numerous problems, which were promptly maligned on social media. ... Kym Karath, who played Gretl Von Trapp in the film, echoed the family's sentiments. "Love Carrie Underwood but this...

SNIPPET: "On Tuesday, Bryan Underwood was sentenced to nine years for trying to pass secrets to China. The irony is that the Chinese government didn’t put him up to it, and when Underwood went to a Chinese government building to sell photos of a U.S. consulate compound in Guangzhou, the Chinese turned him away. They were not interested, or didn’t understand what he was trying to convey.'

Aquanetta Gordon knew that her remarkable son's life on Earth soon would be over. "You can let go," she told him. "You can go home. When you get to heaven, tell Jesus to save that spot right next to you. That's for your mother." Hours later, Ben Underwood, the blind Elk Grove teenager who dazzled people all over the world with his ability to "see" with sound, died at home with his family surrounding him. Ben would have turned 17 on Monday. Instead, friends and relatives will be gathering on that day for his funeral. The service is scheduled for...

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - The man convicted of killing a 10-year-old girl as part of a cannibalistic fantasy "gave up on being normal" and was driven by deviant sexual disorders and a downward spiral of depression, a psychiatrist testified Wednesday. Dr. Martin Kafka, a clinical associate at Harvard Medical School, testified for the defense in the penalty phase of the trial of Kevin Underwood, 28, who has been convicted of first-degree murder for killing Jamie Rose Bolin. A jury will decide whether Underwood should be sentenced to death or life in prison, with or without the possibility of parole. The...

A little bit of this, little bit of that. A tribute to our veterans with a picture that will amaze. Plus some TV tidbits. It's great, it's zany, it's offbeat, it's funny, it's true life. I speak of my new TV fascination…."Desperate Housewives" Plus what's with Faith Hill at the 2006 CMA Awards? Finally, the new series, "Brothers and Sisters". There's are very distasteful liberal flaws in this series and they could cause it to fail.
