Please post this for me as I am in the middle of this mess near where the nunns fire started. This article explains how these fires followed nearly the exact same path they did in 1964. http://www.pressdemocrat.com/news/7382773-181/gaye-lebaron-tubbs-fire-revives?artslide=0 It is complete mismanagement. The burnable material wasn’t managed the people were not alerted when it started I’m well though suffered hard but pray for the others who are much worse off. Thanks to whoever posts this for me. Go Cubs!

Amid a noisy, sometimes, raucous crowd, 7th Congressional District candidates George Miller and Rick Tubbs faced off Thursday at the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum. Candidates for state Senate District 2, incumbent Noreen Evans and challenger Lawrence Wiesner; and District 7 Assembly candidates newcomers Michael Allen and Doris Gentry also spoke and answered questions during the four-hour event. But the Miller-Tubbs debate, by far, drew the most heat as candidates answered questions on job creation, the war in Afghanistan, Social Security, and dismantling Mothball Fleet ships, among other issues. While Miller said he strongly supports the recent health care reform...

Software engineer Jennifer Kolar is to be sentenced this week in federal court for her role in Earth Liberation Front arsons, including one at the University of Washington. Her time in prison will be reduced because she turned state's witness, but that doesn't mitigate the fact she is now regarded as a snitch by peers and could be labeled a terrorist by the government.By Kim McDonald "Don't hang up," FBI Special Agent Jane Quimby told Jennifer Kolar on Dec. 10, 2006. "There were arrests and there is a target letter for you." She gave Kolar the name and number...

Members of the ecoterrorism gang that torched buildings on Vail Mountain in 1998 will be sentenced in April, a federal judge ordered today. At a hearing in U.S. District Court in Eugene, Ore., two key members of the gang formally pleaded guilty to federal arson charges, although they already had admitted their role in the multimillion-dollar fires. They destroyed several mountaintop structures including the popular Two Elk Lodge, a restaurant that has been rebuilt. During the 10-minute hearing, Chelsea Gerlach and Stanislas Meyerhoff, both 29, acknowledged their guilt when asked by Judge Ann Aiken. Gerlach responded "yes," and Meyerhoff said,...

While visiting Iraq on assignment, KOA Denver reporter Steffan Tubbs was touched by the children forced to survive in such harsh conditions. After talking to several soldiers, he learned that soccer balls are "like gold" in Iraq and the soldiers asked Steffan to send over as many soccer balls as possible when he returned home. Along with the help of his college friend Trevor Slavick, "Little Feet, Big Goals" was started. Michael Mann’s somewhat disappointing new movie may be called Miami Vice and the names of some of its characters may trigger recollections of explosions, pastel, linen suits, stubble, wisecracks, gunplay, and music-video brio, but it has little to do with the ground-breaking television series of 20 years ago. And no, the tawdry remake of Phil Collins’s Michelob anthem that accompanies the film’s closing credits won’t fool anyone that using the old title is anything other than an attempt to cash in on a legendary brand. This movie is Miami Vice in name only. Accept no imitations. For the real thing,...

(AP) — A federal grand jury in Eugene on Thursday indicted two more people in the 2001 arson at a Clatskanie tree farm, court officials said, bringing the number charged in the case to six. In all 14 people are charged in what government prosecutors describe as an arson conspiracy across several Western states over five years. Nathan Frazer Block, 24, and Joyanna L. Zacher, 28, were arrested Thursday in Olympia, Wash., after the 14-count indictments were handed up. Advertisement Government attorneys will seek their return to Eugene to face trial, said Karin Immergut, U.S. Attorney for Oregon....

Three environmental activists were cooking up plastic explosives and had planned to test a device the day they were arrested, federal prosecutors alleged Wednesday as they indicted them. The three face five to 20 years in federal prison if they are convicted of conspiring to use fire or explosives to damage property. The suspects planned assaults this spring in the name of the Earth Liberation Front, a 'loosey-goosey, sort of mist-of-the-fog kind of an organization' of environmental activists, U.S. Attorney McGregor Scott said. Eric McDavid, 28, Zachary Jensen, 20, and Lauren Weiner, 20, remain in jail. They could enter a...

FBI agent testifies Arizona bookstore owner is suspected... A federal agent on Friday named an Arizona activist bookstore owner as the second suspect in the 1998 arson attacks at Vail resort that stood for years as the most damaging single act of eco-terrorism in the nation. Catalyst Infoshop owner William C. Rodgers was the second suspect this week linked by a federal law enforcement official to the $12 million conflagration that has been cloaked in mystery for seven years. FBI Special Agent Doug Linter testified in U.S. District Court in Flagstaff, Ariz., that investigators suspect the Prescott, Ariz., bookstore owner...

The arrests could begin to close the book on one of Colorado’s enduring mysteries. At the time, the Vail firebombing was considered the costliest act of eco-terrorism in the country, causing $12 million in damage, destroying the Two Elk Lodge, a mountaintop restaurant, among other structures. "The indictment tells a story of four-and-a-half years of arson, vandalism, violence and destruction claimed to have been executed on behalf of the Animal Liberation Front or Earth Liberation Front, extremist movements known to support acts of domestic terrorism," Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said at a news conference today. Appearing with Gonzales, FBI Director...

The arrest of six suspects in a string of eco-terror arsons has generated a string of related stories, including many about the jail-cell suicide of one defendant described as the "ringleader" behind eco-terror fires in several states. In a follow-up report that caught our eye, The Seattle Times talked to defendant Kevin Tubbs' mother. Tubbs is charged with setting a $1.2 million fire in June 1998 which consumed the USDA's Animal and Plant and Health Inspection Service facility in Olympia, Washington. He's also accused of torching 35 sport-utility vehicles at a Eugene, Oregon car dealership. And according to his mother,...
