The leader of the Justice Department’s civil rights division, Kristen Clarke, said in an extraordinary personal statement shared with CNN that she was a victim of years-long domestic abuse and chose not to disclose an expunged arrest record from that period during the Senate confirmation process. Clarke’s now-expunged arrest, which reportedly occurred during a domestic dispute, quickly became a cause célèbre among right-wing media and lawmakers who claim she lied during her 2021 Senate confirmation hearing, with some calling for her resignation. “Nearly 2 decades ago, I was subjected to years-long abuse and domestic violence at the hands of my...

This post was updated 5JUL19, when I received word that the FDA approved Bremelanotide PT-141 under the name Vylessi. I updated this post, and subsequently added the name Vylessi to all mention of Bremelanotide PT-141, and added updated histories and commentaries at the end. We have a tendency to think inside the box. We try to improve what we know. We try to work within the framework of what we have. We actually do need to think "outside the box"... As a man gets older, your body changes. Your hair starts receding, and starts to fall out. You start to...

Here, I argue that Hollywood is not using their innate and basic movie-making skills when pandering to their progressive causes. I argue that not only are they losing money in the process, but they are alienating their viewership base. I thus offer some suggestions to this end to prevent a hemorrhaging of the Hollywood profit model. Ah. Hollywood. So famous, and so taken for granted. The more that I think about it, the more that I am convinced. Indeed, I am convinced that those in Hollywood have found a new profit model. As, it seems, the movies that they are...

Back in the day, I was one of the first people to start using Google as a search engine. I liked it’s clean interface, and simplicity. Of course, over the years, other people also found this to be the preferential search engine. Unfortunately, Google became big, powerful and yes, evil. They siphon up your personal information with zero regard to fourth amendment protections. They sell the information to the highest bidder, and give it away for free if the person is part of a government agency. Unfortunately, people like myself VALUE privacy. And that means that I no longer can...

Here is a movie that I loved as a kid. There are people who think that it is a piece of Satanic propaganda. I disagree. I just think that it is a chunky tongue in cheek, campy, pseudo horror flick from the 1970’s. Here’s my take on this masterpiece of camp. They just don’t make ‘em like The Abominable Dr. Phibes* anymore. In fact, they just don’t make ‘em like Vincent Price anymore, either. Dr. Phibes, first off, is the definitive role that Vincent Price was born to play, and second off, is firmly embedded in a different time. He...

Here are a selection of micro-videos that amply illustrate what is going on in Asia this summer. With that being said, let it be well understood that there is quite a bit going on, let me tell you all. And it is all so very different from what you would find in the West that it becomes noteworthy, though rather difficult to classify individually. Here, the videos depict China, Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan. I hope that you all will enjoy these micro-videos and visions of Asia as much as I do. Please kindly note that this post has multiple embedded...

Have you noticed how often people come up to Donald Trump and tell him he’s right? We don’t get to see or hear all this unsolicited praise, but he assures us he does...... [SNIP] Trump hears what he wants to hear. Criticism is either ignored or somehow misperceived as more affirmation.... [SNIP] In that same interview with Cuomo, Trump stated, “I was given the biggest award by the Marines the other day, one of the biggest civilian awards by the Marines the other day.” Not quite. Trump was given an award by a civilian charity, the Marine Corps Law Enforcement...

Charisma can trick people into entrusting their fate to someone whose words cannot be relied upon, in the mistaken belief that somehow his actions can be relied upon. But sooner or later, people will wake up to the fact that neither his words nor his actions can be trusted. We can only hope that it will be sooner rather than later.

Ed Rendell is too truthful to be a good vice-presidential candidate. Just ask him. The Pennsylvania governor and Hillary supporter was a guest on this afternoon's Hardball. Wrapping up the interview, host Chris Matthews broached his availability as Veep. CHRIS MATTHEWS: Do you think the Democrats have a shot at carrying Florida on the best of conditions this year? ED RENDELL: Oh, absolutely, absolutely. Particularly when the issues about Social Security are fashioned. I think this is going to be the best chance we've had to carry Florida since 2000. MATTHEWS: I think Hillary has a better chance than Barack...

NYT: SUICIDE MANUAL FOR DEMSNovember 21, 2007 Here's a story that may not have been deemed "Fit to Print": In the six months that ended Sept. 25, The New York Times' daily circulation was down another 4.51 percent to about a million readers a day. The paper's Sunday circulation was down 7.59 percent to about 1.5 million readers. In short, the Times is dropping faster than Hillary in New Hampshire. (Meanwhile, the Drudge Report has more than 16 million readers every day.) One can only hope that none of the Democratic presidential candidates are among the disaffected hordes lining up...

Are there no limits to the comfort and support being given to our enemies by our so-called news media? On the front page of the Oct. 20 issue of USA Today, we find the headline "Put to test, 300 Iraqi troops fled." But in the fine print we find that 2,000 other Iraqi troops stuck with U.S. forces in taking the militant stronghold in Samarra. The one of eight who purportedly fled got the headline: The seven of eight who remained and fought were mentioned as an afterthought. American successes in Iraq are ignored or minimized — only shortcomings are...

<p>August 7, 2003 -- SURPRISE! Democratic 2004 front-runner Howard Dean is starting to sound like Bill Clinton in a very un-good way: playing word games and waltzing with the truth.</p>
<p>Which doesn't quite suit his claim that his honesty sets him apart from rivals.</p>
