WASHINGTON — Firearm bump stocks would have to be surrendered, destroyed or made inoperable under a ban proposed Friday by the Justice Department. The devices, which allow semi-automatic weapons to fire as fast as a machine gun, became the focus of concern following the discovery that Stephen Paddock attached them to 14 of the 22 rifles he used in the October 2017 shooting rampage in Las Vegas, killing 58 people and injuring more than 700. "After the senseless shooting in Las Vegas, this proposed rule is a critical step in our effort to reduce the threat of gun violence that...

Donald Trump Settled a Real Estate Lawsuit, and a Criminal Case Was Closed By MIKE McINTIRE APRIL 5, 2016 For Donald J. Trump, it is a long-held legal strategy, if not a point of pride, to avoid knuckling under to plaintiffs in court. “I don’t settle lawsuits — very rare — because once you settle lawsuits, everybody sues you,” he said recently. But Mr. Trump made an exception when buyers of units in Trump SoHo, a 46-story luxury condominium-hotel in Lower Manhattan, asserted that they had been defrauded by inflated claims made by Mr. Trump, his children and others of...

The billionaire started the gourmet steak line in 2007 and sold it through Sharper Image. But as some observers pointed out on Twitter, the filets Trump was serving up at the event came wrapped in packaging from a company not affiliated with the his business empire.“Trump steaks. Is paying for the BBB membership good for your company? That is a decision you will have to carefully make after reading further… While the Better Business Bureau seems to do a good job at exposing some fraudulent business practices, its methods of accrediting businesses are borderline “mafia-style” and “bully-like” in a sense. For example, one media outlet wrote: “The Better Business Bureau is a Mafia-Like Racket” that uses blackmail and coercion to set its bogus ratings and even defamed a law firm for refusing to submit to its shakedown methods, claiming a $200 Million complaint against the bureau in...

During last week's Fox News GOP debate in Detroit, Donald Trump was confronted by anchor Megyn Kelly about Trump University. Trump claimed during the debate Trump University received an A-rating from the Better Business Bureau. As Kelly pointed out in an exchange with Trump at the debate, that is false. Trump then claimed the BBB faxed him in the middle of the debate to confirm the A-rating. They didn't. Trump's people handed moderators a sheet of paper and claimed it was from the BBB to verify the A-rating. It wasn't. Megyn Kelly EXPOSES Donald's TRUMP University SCAMS! - GOP Debate Trump...

Julianna Goldman, Laura Strickler CBS News March 7, 2016 Documents Reveal What Trump Actually Said About His University Republican groups fighting Donald Trump are trying everything to derail the front-runner, including airing ads targeting Trump University. The program sold nearly 7,000 students on learning the billionaire's real estate secrets, but the school began winding down in 2010. More than 150 former students allege it was a fraud. Three lawsuits have been filed, one $40 million case in New York brought by the state's attorney general and two class action suits in California. Trump University began in 2004 with online courses...

We are going to examine the facts behind three new ads attacking GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump and his involvement with Trump University, which are being aired by the American Future Fund, a super PAC that does not disclose its donors but backed Mitt Romney in the 2012 campaign. But we first wanted to start with a video that Trump filmed to tout the program, in which he declared he was going to have the “best of the best” professors — “handpicked by me.” As you can see, the president of the “university” later conceded that that claim was false...

... "I can see the bumper sticker now: “Vote Trump – Because there are jobs Americans won’t do.†Cruz and Rubio finally landed some blows against Trump in this debate; Rubio’s mockery was especially amusing (and unnerving for Trump), though my man Cruz’s attacks were more serious and grounded. But at this late date, the hits Trump took on his (lack of a) health care plan, tax returns, even Trump University, might not make any difference. But the whole point of his candidacy is that he’s a nationalist, that his first concern is for America and Americans; his (obviously unread)...

Donald Trump moved closer to a jury trial over allegations he misled Trump University students with promises that seminars as good as the Wharton business school would be taught by his "handpicked" instructors. Trump, 69, and the school on Wednesday lost a bid to throw out the claims by senior citizens and other disappointed students ahead of trial. The billionaire and his business, which stopped enrolling students in 2010 and changed its name to Trump Entrepreneur Initiative, convinced U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel in San Diego there was no need for a court order barring further misrepresentations about the seminars....

President Obama leads Donald Trump by 15 percentage points in a hypothetical 2012 match-up, but the president is unable to top the 50% level of support even against an opponent some are deriding as a joke. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that the president earns support from 49% of Likely Voters nationwide, while Trump attracts the vote from 34%. Given that choice, 12% would vote for some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.) Only 65% of Republican voters would vote for Trump over Obama. Among voters not affiliated...
