JACKSON, Miss. —Mississippi Republican Thad Cochran has won a seventh term in the U.S. Senate. Unofficial results show the 76-year-old incumbent defeated two challengers Tuesday -- Democratic former Congressman Travis Childers and Reform Party candidate Shawn O'Hara.
  • Pledge Aligns Childers with Hate Groups

In September, Travis Childers, Mississippi's Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, completed a survey about immigration. Childers' stance has consistently been anti-immigration, so his opposing amnesty for "dreamers," young people whose parents brought them into this country without authorization when they were too young to object, is no surprise. #What angers Democrats is the questionnaire's source: The Federation for American Immigration Reform, known as FAIR. The questions are: 1. Will you oppose or support legislation that would grant any form of work authorization to illegal aliens? 2. Will you oppose or support legislation that would increase the overall number of...
  • Travis Childers (D) pledges allegiance to SPLC designated hate group(SPLC to advise Thad campaign?)

U.S. Senate candidate Travis Childers made a naked play pandering for Chris McDaniel voters Thursday by signing the same FAIR anti-amnesty pledge as the Republican state senator. Childers is hoping the news overshadows the fact that the liberal noose of the Democrat Party remains securely tightened around his neck. Rabid McDaniel voters seized on the news, sending a tingle down their legs. Some attempted to make the leap that somehow it showed that Childers is more conservative than Thad Cochran, the Republican nominee, as if this one bit of news alone gave them the reason they needed to crossover.

Ex-Fox News pundit launches House bid in Miss. By Sean J. Miller - 02/09/10 06:13 PM ET Conservative author Angela McGlowan (R) launched her bid to unseat Rep. Travis Childers (D-Miss.) Monday by declaring herself pro-life, pro-gun and pro-small business. "In Massachusetts, the people rose up and reclaimed their seat in the U.S. Senate in an election that's been compared to 'the shot heard around the world,'" McGlowan, a former Fox News Channel contributor, said in a statement. "But that was just the beginning, let the rebellion in the House of Representatives start right here in Mississippi." Childers beat Southaven...
  • NRCC calls out Rep. Travis Childers (D-MS1) on Obamacare

With a massive government takeover of healthcare looming, Travis Childers has gone AWOL – it’s as if the vacancy in Mississippi’s 1st District still exists 16 months later. Childers needs to come out of hiding and let his constituents know where he stands on the president’s healthcare takeover. Will he continue to tacitly enable Obama with his silence, or will he stand up and fight for the North Mississippians who resoundingly rejected Obama’s costly agenda in 2008?” – Andy Seré, NRCC spokesman Is Travis Childers really thinking about voting for President Obama’s government takeover of healthcare? He’s not saying much,...

Conservatives rationalized on May 13 when Republicans lost their third consecutive special Congressional election, in the supposedly safe 1st District of Mississippi. After all, they said, the victorious Democratic candidate Travis Childers, sounded more conservative during the campaign than his losing Republican candidate. He was a county official, a good old boy who the voters figured would be an independent conservative vote in the House as one of the Blue Dog Democrats. But once in Washington, he drank the Democratic leadership’s Kool Aid. In the first 13 House roll calls contested along partisan lines after Childers took his seat in...

I am not an expert on campaign strategy, but I know a losing game plan when I see one. The Republican Party’s strategy in a series of special House elections this year has been to tie Democratic candidates to Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi. How’s that working? Three straight losses, all in congressional districts President Bush carried easily in 2004. Some strategy. John McCain may well win the presidential election, but at the congressional and grassroots level, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the GOP in a more severe state of disarray. The worst result yet has come from the...

2008-05-14) — An ebullient Sen. John McCain told a crowd of supporters today that the Republican loss of a Mississippi Congressional seat Tuesday bodes well for his presidential hopes in November. “Travis Childers, who beat the Republican in Mississippi, ran as a conservative Democrat and will now join the liberal Democrat coalition in the House,” said the presumptive Republican nominee. “What does that signal if not the triumph of the McCain strategy?”

In a major blow to national Republicans, a Mississippi congressional seat that once voted for President Bush by a twenty-five point margin elected a Democrat on Tuesday. Prentiss County Chancery Clerk Travis Childers beat out Republican candidate Greg Davis, the mayor of Southaven, by a 54%-46% margin, a spread that several Republican strategists on Capitol Hill characterized as a startling wake-up call for a party in dire straits. Voters cast ballots for the fourth time in three months for the seat, vacated when Republican Roger Wicker was appointed to fill the remainder of Senator Trent Lott's term. After winning the...
