Travis Childers (D) pledges allegiance to SPLC designated hate group(SPLC to advise Thad campaign?)
Y'all Politics ^

U.S. Senate candidate Travis Childers made a naked play pandering for Chris McDaniel voters Thursday by signing the same FAIR anti-amnesty pledge as the Republican state senator.

Childers is hoping the news overshadows the fact that the liberal noose of the Democrat Party remains securely tightened around his neck.

Rabid McDaniel voters seized on the news, sending a tingle down their legs. Some attempted to make the leap that somehow it showed that Childers is more conservative than Thad Cochran, the Republican nominee, as if this one bit of news alone gave them the reason they needed to crossover.

This Y'all Politics website always posts pro-Thad and anti-McDaniel stories. I wonder if the SPLC helped Cochran's campaign.

I wonder if all of McDaniel's primary voters are on an SPLC list somewhere.

I wonder if the very popular Vitter and Jeff Sessions are part of a hate group according to the SPLC and Cochran’s campaign.

this is entertaining.

I like that Childers is moving to the Right even if its just to play head games with the noxious Cochran campaign:))

He called Cochran out for not having support of his own party.

I would vote for Angela Davis before I’d vote for Thad Cochran - pure D slime.

the Cochran campaign seems to have dismissed the possiblity that Childers could use what Cochran did in the primary against him. Bad move for Cochran.

Southern Dems can move to the Right. It was a Pelosi tactic years ago with the faux “Conservative” Dems who won a lot of seats in the House.

I guess the website is a sock puppet of the Barbour GOPe/RINO machine. Any funding for it from K Street lobbyists?

Travis Childers has a long history of supporting Conservative legislation:

“NO” on the DREAM Act.

Censured Charlie Rangel.

Received NRA endorsement.

“YES” on several tax reduction bills.

“YES” on several F-35 fighter bills.

“NO” on ObamaCare.

“NO” on debt increase.

“YES” on several DOD budgets.

“NO” on funding for ACORN.

“NO” on new hate crime bills.

“YES” on offshore drilling...

All those votes are recorded from 2008-2010 at Project Vote Smart, so Childers has been doing this for a while.

He's clearly center-left, but I'll bet his record is more Conservative than most GOP congressmen from New York.

I thought that all along some people were saying that Childers is quite conservative, that he'd be a better choice than Cochran but not necessarily better than McDaniel.

Wouldn't it be ironic if a conservative got to the US Senate via a throwaway nomination by dems in MS?

It doesn’t matter how conservative Childers is. If elected, he will still caucus with an organization led by Harry Reid who determines how each member of his caucus will vote. Reid could care less about pledges an individual makes to get elected. No Democrat Senator is a free agent.

When I watch a politician turn making a pledge into a major publicity event, particularly when I know the pledge is inconsistent with his past behavior or his party’s leadershp’s position, I am always reminded of George H. W. Bush pledging “no new taxes” in 1988 during his first presidential run. The pledge made headlines because everyone knew Bush was the consummate beltway insider and really did not believe tax reduction.

If Childers is elected he will represent Harry Reid, not the people of Mississippi.

Please don’t take this as an endorsement of Cochran. I’m just stating the obvious. Unlike the Republicans, Democratts in the Senate walk in lock step, even the ones representing conservative to moderate states. Look at the voting records of Kay Hagan in NC or Bill Nelson from Florida. All Democrat senators fear Harry Reid much more than they do the people.

The problem is the Cochran primary tactics. It was a bridge too far in its attacks on constitutional conservatives, supported by RINOs in DC. The establishment could still turn it around. It would’ve been better if it happened at least a week ago. That would be the Republican Party in MS or conservative leaning judges should say the nomination belongs to McDaniel. Otherwise, the arguments that constitutional conservatives aren’t the first enemy of RINO establishment backstabbers aren’t working.

The Cochran camp has painted itself into a corner. I have news for them, it has nothing to do with Childers, at least for me. I’m not voting for Cochran if he was the only name on the ticket. I would continue to say, let him get his votes from whence he got them in the primary, but it looks like the gang that couldn’t shoot straight is trying to screw that up too, if they ever had a tiny chance of getting any of those votes in the general election anyway.

I support senator McDaniel and will write his name in, I will NOT vote for democrat childers regardless of what he signs, he will vote as his party needs him to when it comes down to it. I will NOT vote for cochran. In the article Y’ALL politics talks about Mississippi being the reddest of the red states, I don’t really believe that when you look at the voting records of our US Senators and Congressmen. Y’ALL politics seem to me to promote haley’s rinos as does supertalk radio. They have an count the days update ridiculing McDaniels and obviously don’t believe he should have his day in court. POYP
