The Bravo network TV show and its production company, Magical Elves, are fighting efforts to disclose the details of an incentive package from the state worth $400,000 in taxpayers' money... The requests sought details about the incentive agreement reached with the state. The program is outlined on the governor's website , but the deal struck with producers of Top Chef is the first of its kind. Lucy Nashed, a spokeswoman for Gov. Rick Perry sent this response: “The state has an integrated marketing agreement that allows for cross promotional opportunities between Texas Tourism and Top Chef.

Anyone who’s seen Bravo’s "Top Chef" knows Tom Colicchio. He’s a man who knows how to cook and a man who knows good food. When I was a kid, only chemists knew what a carbohydrate was; now, everybody does. But we have yet to see Italian restaurants boast of Seven Blends of Complex Carbohydrates in Vodka Sauce on their menus. They still—so far—proudly speak of ‘pasta.’ Still, specialized food lingo is part of popular culture. Reviews of two cooking show contests now ongoing-Fox's "Hell's Kitchen" and Bravo's "Top Chef". Both shows feature would-be chefs but the tasks, judging and prizes are as different as night and day. The Top Chef features air,earth,fire and water entrees while Hell's Kitchen is same old, same old with the Chef wearing too much makeup sent home.
