Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that Israel had “crossed the threshold of intent” and was causing genocide in Gaza. On the House floor, Ocasio-Cortez said, “If you want to know what an unfolding genocide looks like, open your eyes. It looks like the force famine of 1.1 million in a sense. We must write our story in this moment of what it means and who we are as Americans and our story must be not that we were good men who did nothing now.”

Chris Christie is one step closer to making the Republican debate stage. The former New Jersey governor claimed late Wednesday to have reached the 40,000 unique donors required to participate in the Aug. 23 showdown in Milwaukee, Wis. “Last night, we went past 40,000 unique donors in just 35 days, and it gives you some perspective because I ran eight years ago,” Christie told CNN’s Anderson Cooper. “In 35 days, eight years ago, we had 5,000 donors. We have over 40,000 donors now. “There is a donor in every state in America and we have over 200 donors in 36...

A recent Echelon Insights survey shows Republican Georgia Senate hopeful Herschel Walker leading Democrat Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) by seven percentage points, surpassing the 50 percent threshold in the Peach State. The survey asked respondents, “If the election for U.S. Senate were held today, would you vote for Herschel Walker, the Republican candidate, Raphael Warnock, the Democratic candidate, or Chase Oliver, the Libertarian Party candidate?”

RENO, Nevada — Left-wing billionaire Tom Steyer would have qualified for Wednesday’s Democrat debate by Monday evening, but the arcane rules of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) may keep him from the stage. With barely 24 hours to go before the 11:59 p.m. ET deadline on Tuesday, Steyer has yet to meet the minimum criteria of receiving “10% or more support in at least four polls (which may be national polls, or single-state polls of South Carolina, and/or Nevada) ” or “12% or more support in two single-state polls in South Carolina and/or Nevada.”

Never one to mess up a good story by sticking with the facts, the liberal media in Washington refuse to tell us much about the inner-workings of the Senate. Oh sure, they are quick to carp about anything they think may be a misstep by a Republican member. But that is about as deep as their news reports usually go. No one ever reports that few senators fully understand, or even read, any of the bills before voting. Nor are we often informed that an inordinate amount of each senator's time is spent seeing lobbyists and other campaign contributors, rather...

A QUARTER-century ago, Proposition 13 and a court decision to equalize funding among school districts transferred power to the state and eroded local control over school taxes.

Since then, legislators have turned education financing into a monument to the Winchester Mystery House. It's illogical and byzantine, with tiny pots of money in a thousand nooks and crannies. At least the Mystery House's foundation is stable. Education is built on the loose foundation of a cyclical economy.

Reports that the Bush administration is developing plans for the possible use of low-yield nuclear weapons in pre-emptive strikes against underground targets in Iraq are raising concerns in Washington. Officials dismiss these worries by saying that such plans merely reflect the need for a full range of military options in an unstable new environment and do not imply a change in the U.S. nuclear doctrine of deterrence.
