Former President Bill Clinton was in Denver, Colorado, stumping for his wife yesterday. In a long, and interesting speech, he characterized what the U.S. and other industrialized nations need to do to combat global warming this way: "We just have to slow down our economy and cut back our greenhouse gas emissions 'cause we have to save the planet for our grandchildren."

A U.S. spy satellite set to reenter the Earth's orbit in late February or early March could hit land somewhere in North America, the military said. Normally such objects break apart and then burn up in the Earth's atmosphere on reentry. But the military says parts of the large satellite are likely to survive reentry and become hazards as they tumble back towards Earth. "We're aware that this satellite is out there," Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart, who heads of U.S. Northern Command, said in an interview with The Associated Press. "We're aware it is a fairly substantial size. And...

WASHINGTON -- Senator Edward M. Kennedy will endorse Barack Obama for president tomorrow, breaking his year-long neutrality to send a powerful signal of where the legendary Massachusetts Democrat sees the party going -- and who he thinks is best to lead it. Kennedy confidantes told the Globe today that the Bay State's senior senator will appear with Obama and Kennedy's niece, Caroline Kennedy, at a morning rally at American University in Washington tomorrow to announce his support. That will be a potentially significant boost for Obama as he heads into a series of critical primaries on Super Tuesday, Feb. 5....

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) - June 1, 2006 - Several self-avowed pedophiles founded a political party in the Netherlands and plan to endorse broadcasting pornographic material on daytime television and allowing children as young as 12 to feature in porn films. The Charity, Freedom and Diversity party said Wednesday its central campaign platform will be lowering the age of consent in the Netherlands from 16 to 12. "Forbidding children from sex only makes them more curious," party president Martijn Uittenbogaard told The Associated Press. Uittenbogaard said his new party had supporters from "all corners of the country" but acknowledged Wednesday's launch...

Iraq Veteran Sues Moore Over 9/11 Film By DENISE LAVOIE BOSTON (AP) - A veteran who lost both arms in the war in Iraq is suing filmmaker Michael Moore for $85 million, alleging that Moore used snippets of a television interview without his permission to falsely portray him as anti-war in "Fahrenheit 9/11." Sgt. Peter Damon, a National Guardsman from Middleborough, is asking for damages because of "loss of reputation, emotional distress, embarrassment, and personal humiliation," according to the lawsuit filed in Suffolk Superior Court last week. Damon, 33, claims that Moore never asked for his consent to use a...

he New Testament story describes Jesus walking on water in the Sea of Galilee but according to a study led by Florida State University Professor of Oceanography Doron Nof, it's more likely that he walked on an isolated patch of floating ice. The study points to a rare combination of optimal water and atmospheric conditions for development of a unique, localized freezing phenomenon that Nof and his co-authors call "springs ice." In what is now northern Israel, such ice could have formed on the cold freshwater surface of the Sea of Galilee -- known as Lake Kinneret by modern-day Israelis...

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, India (AFP) - An Indian movie director said he hopes to persuade Paris Hilton to play the role of Nobel laureate and prospective Catholic Saint, Mother Teresa, in an upcoming film. "Her features resemble Mother Teresa," director T. Rajeevnath told AFP from the southwestern coastal state of Kerala. The filmmaker said Hilton is on his shortlist after a computer-generated image showed a close facial match between the hotel heiress and the Albanian-born nun. Mother Teresa, who died in 1997, worked among the poor in the teeming slums of Kolkata, formerly Calcutta, with the Missionaries of Charity. She was beatified...

I really don't understand why this has not been announced in the MSM. It seems like something that the American Public should be made aware of. Regardless of whether or not this threat is viable, I don't think it is our place to judge that really. I do think, however, viable or not that the public should be aware of it.
